About the Yamaha SRT-1000
Surround sound for the 21st century
Surround sound for the 21st century
The Yamaha SRT-1000 provides 5.1-channel surround sound in a clutter-free 1-piece design.
Yamaha's Digital Sound Projector technology seems like an idea out of science fiction when you first read about it. It directs beams of sound around your room, bouncing them off your walls and into your ears with precise timing, for realistic surround sound effects from a single speaker. With the SRT-1000, Yamaha puts that cool technology in a sturdy platform that sits right underneath your TV. It sounds great, it's convenient, and it's about as visually unobtrusive as surround sound can get.
Loaded for home theater action
How does one speaker handle five separate channels of surround sound plus another channel just for the bass? Well, this speaker has a lot more to it than most. It starts with built-in Dolby® Digital and DTS® decoding to unlock the 5.1-channel soundtracks available in TV broadcasts or on DVD or Blu-ray discs. The SRT-1000 reproduces those separate channels of sound using an array of 8 small "beam" speakers, flanked by a pair of oval-shaped front-firing woofers. The beam speakers are responsible for creating the sound reflections that give you a sense of space and depth. A pair of down-firing subwoofers provide solid bass — but you can also add an extra subwoofer if you want more. Every driver is powered by its own individual amplifier, with system power totaling 136 watts.
Bluetooth for music and control
Lots of sound bars have Bluetooth for wireless music listening from smartphones and tablets. The SRT-1000 takes Bluetooth a step further by allowing you control the system with your phone or tablet. Download the Yamaha Home Theater Controller app to your Apple® or Android™ device and use it to adjust the sound beams, select listening modes, and change the volume. Of course, Bluetooth is also an easy way to enjoy your digital music collection or streaming music services with this system.
Yamaha's Digital Sound Projector technology directs precise beams of sound off your walls and into your ears.

Features
Soundbar Speaker Base: The Yamaha SRT-1000 soundbar speaker base offers a space-saving design that's simple to install. Thanks to its 29.4375" (w) x 13.3125" (d) top surface, the SRT-1000 can be placed under flat-panel TVs up to 55" (weighing up to 88 lbs). Because it's designed to fit easily under your TV, the soundbar speaker base brings you surround sound without getting in the way of the TV screen. The SRT-1000 can also be installed on a shelf or on top of TV furniture for use with wall-mounted TVs.
Digital Sound Projector Technology: The SRT-1000 soundbar speaker base uses Yamaha's exclusive Digital Sound Projector technology to produce sound beams that reflect off the walls of your room to deliver a virtual 5.1-channel surround sound. The result is an expansive and immersive listening experience that brings your favorite TV shows and movies to life. The Yamaha SRT-1000 soundbar speaker creates this virtual surround sound experience by producing beams of sound that reflect off the walls in controlled directions using Yamaha' proprietary Digital Sound Projector technology to precisely control the orientation of the sound by focusing it through multiple beams. The center channel sound is heard directly, while sounds from other channels are heard after reflecting off walls. The result is a multichannel (up to 5.1ch) surround sound that sounds like a multi-speaker system, but without the need for extra speakers.
10 Speaker Array w/ Dual Subs: The Yamaha SRT-1000 soundbar speaker base features a central array of eight 1.125" beam speakers and 4" x 1.5" oval woofers on both sides that together create Yamaha's Digital Sound Projector sound beams. The soundbar speaker base's dual 3.25" subwoofers are mounted on the left and right sides of the bottom surface and feature independent bass reflex ports. The ports reduce unwanted resonance by facilitating a smooth flow of air. Combined with the cabinet's large-capacity construction, the unit delivers rich, clear bass. All drivers are housed in a MDF constructed cabinet, ideal for producing good quality sound.
136-Watt Amplifier: The Yamaha SRT-1000 soundbar speaker base system is equipped with a 136 watt amplifier for dynamic sound reproduction. 2 watts of power is sent to each of the 8 beam drivers and 30 watts to each of the oval midbass woofers and built-in subwoofers.
Dolby Digital/DTS Compatible with Cinema DSP: The Yamaha SRT-1000 soundbar speaker base system is compatible with popular surround sound formats, such as Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround (up to 5.1ch), so you get the full effect of multichannel movie sound. Yamaha's ultra-sophisticated Cinema DSP technology enhances Dolby Digital/DTS and two-channel soundtracks to create a thrillingly realistic soundscape in your living room. You can select from five different Cinema DSP program modes; including Movie, Music, Sports, Game, or TV.
Audio Enhancements: The Yamaha soundbar speaker base provides a variety of audio adjustments to enhance your movie and music listening experience.
- Clear Voice: The Clear Voice function raises the level of dialog and narrations while maintaining overall sound quality. Movies, TV shows, sports commentary, and news broadcasts are more clearly audible.
- UniVolume: UniVolume is a Yamaha-developed technology that maintains a consistent volume level between different channels, programs, commercials, and input sources. For instance, when watching TV while using UniVolume, the volume of commercials will not be louder than the program being viewed. The same is true when switching sources to watch a DVD or Blu-ray movie, or to listen to music on CD. This is particularly helpful for late night watching and listening when spikes in volume can disturb others in the house or apartment building. This feature can be switched On or Off.
- Dynamic Range: Dynamic Range Control adjusts the dynamic range in relation to the volume, useful at low volume. It can be set to Normal, Standard, or Maximum.
- SRT Position: In order to calibrate the speaker's sound beams, you can customize your listening position and the dimensions (width x length) of your room.
- Channel Level: The soundbar speaker's surround effect is achieved using six (5.1) audio channels. While listening to a series of test-tones from the speaker, you can adjust the volume level of each channel to balance the sound heard from your listening position.
- Audio Delay Control: This technology adjusts the timing of the picture and dialog, so they are always in sync with one another.
Digital + Analog Connectivity: The SRT-1000 is fitted with both digital and analog inputs to connect your flat-panel television and other AV components. The soundbar speaker features two optical (toslink) digital inputs, one coaxial (RCA) digital input, and one analog stereo (RCA) input. The soundbar's digital inputs support PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS audio signals (up to 5.1ch). You should turn your TV's speakers off or set the TV's volume to 0.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box). That's why we recommend that you run separate digital audio cables from your TV, satellite/cable box, and Blu-ray player to the soundbar speaker for best sound performance.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Yamaha SRT-1000 features built-in Bluetooth (v2.1+EDR) for wireless connection to your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows PC, Mac Computer, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. You'll be able to stream stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or computer to the Yamaha soundbar speaker system. You will still control your music and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled device.
- aptX Playback: In addition to standard Bluetooth SBC playback, the SRT-1000 also employs AptX audio coding technology for lossless, CD-quality streaming with compatible aptX-compatible smartphones (like Android 4.0+).
- Multi-Device Pairing: Up to 8 devices can be paired, but only one device can be used at a time. Once paired, the SRT-1000 will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').
Remote App: Download Yamaha's free Home Theater Controller app for Apple iOS (5.0+) or Android (2.3.3+) to easily perform a variety of functions from your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone/tablet. Basic functions include Input Selection and Volume Up/Down. You can also use the app to choose between the 5 Cinema DSP modes (Movie, Music, Sports, Game, or TV) and configure SRT beam positioning.
Remote Control w/ TV "Learn" Function: The SRT-1000's IR remote control is simple and easy to use. It lets you turn the power On or Off, adjust the volume, and do other basic operations. The SRT-1000 also has the ability to "learn" the TV remote control operation, so you can use the TV remote control to turn the SRT-1000 On or Off, and to adjust its volume. This allows you to use either the TV remote or the Yamaha remote for easy operation.
Subwoofer Output: The soundbar speaker base system's subwoofer output consists of a single mono-RCA jack and lets you connect an additional subwoofer to enjoy even more powerful bass sound.
Auto Standby: The soundbar speaker base system will automatically turn off when there is no operation for 8 hours, or no audio input and no operation for 20 minutes.
