Narrow the expansive gulf between your TV's sound and picture quality. The Yamaha YAS-103 can elevate your viewing experience by delivering sound as big and detailed as your HDTV's picture. Fill in all those missing low frequencies, get clearer dialogue, and feel immersed in the soundtracks of movies and TV shows, so picture and sound are in true harmony.
Yamaha packs a lot of value into the YAS-103. But let's start with the basics: its detailed, powerful sound. Built-in amplifiers power four drivers to deliver rich, full-range sound, with plenty of high-frequency detail and low-end thump. Each end of the bar is ported for enhanced bass response, so you get deep bass without the need for a separate subwoofer. Built-in Dolby® and DTS® decoding as well as Yamaha's digital surround processing give movie and TV sound a more three-dimensional effect. It's a far cry from the flat, thin sound TV speakers are infamous for.
If you have a Bluetooth-compatible smartphone, this sound bar offers a couple of very cool features. The first is wireless music streaming, so you can use the YAS-103 to enjoy your favorite tunes — great for MP3s stored on your device or streaming music from services like Pandora® Internet radio and Spotify. But Yamaha takes Bluetooth a step further than most sound bars: download the free Yamaha Home Theater Controller app to your Apple® or Android™ smartphone and use it as a remote. It lets you select your input and choose from different surround modes.
One cable is likely all you'll need to connect the YAS-103 to your TV to bypass its built-in speakers for room-filling sound. Choose from optical digital (included), coaxial digital, and RCA cables to connect your TV and start hearing movies and TV shows the way they were meant to sound. The included remote can learn your TV's power and volume commands. And a built-in IR repeater on the bar means that your TV remote will still work, even if the bar blocks the TV's infrared receiver.
If your HDTV's screen size is larger than 55 inches, check out the larger Yamaha YAS-152 sound bar.
Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.
Ordered the YAS-103 based on reviews and advice from Crutchfield. Received in short order. The unit immediately powered down after applying power. Tried resetting the processor. Did not work. Discussed with Crutchfield tech support. Discovered the unit was discontinued. Sent it back fro a refund.
Pros: Crutchfield Tech Support is excellent. Talked to them at 10:00 at night. Gave me suggestions on things to try and when they didn't work gave me an immediate return authorization.
Cons: The YAS-103 would have met my needs had it actually worked.
This sound bar solved our problems with the background music/noise overwhelming the dialog.
Pros: Fits easily in front of the TV
Cons: Didn't really find any
I installed this as an improvement to a Sony WEGA 32 inch analog TV. The TVs speakers were designed for old time stereo output and modern audio from movies or television shows comes out indecipherable at times. All I wanted was to be able to distinguish voices over the music or background sound and this unit delivers. Additionally, the YAS-103 automatically monitors volume so that the commercials don't come thru louder than the show. Finally, the YAS-103 unit learns the basic commands from your existing remote (on/off, +/- volume, mute) and passes thru the more complicated commands by way of a IR repeater in back. You don't need an extra remote, which is good if you have older folks around who are used to using the same remote. All in all it was a good purchase for a specific reason.
Outstanding product! Very easy to set up and connect with Bluetooth. The sound is very good and the bass was impressive without the separate subwoofer.
Pros: Extremely easy to set up, Bluetooth pairing very easy.
Cons: None that I found
Sounds great. Didn't get the Yas- 203 because Woofer is separate. The 103 woofer is good enough - you can adjust the woofer volume independent from the normal volume.
The pass through IR signal is great because I have three small devices blocked by the YAS-103. I'm using the harmony hub/remote and programmed it to use the YAS-103 for volume (short button press Normal volume and long button press for Woofer volume). My Vizio TV allowed me to disable the TV speakers.
The Bluetooth connection I use for playing audio from my iPhone. Also, Bluetooth from my laptop when watching SlingBox from DVR downstairs.
The thing is heavy and solid which I like and would expect. You can remove the feet to lower the profile so it doesn't block the TV - it still has low profile feet when you do. I have a 46" Vizio I use it with the YAS-103. I use the TV HDMI inputs to switch between the ROKU box and Blueray player as well as the TV decoder. The Vizio has an optical audio output that plugs directly into the YAS-103. The optical cable comes with the YAS-103 and is the only input I have into the YAS-103.
Item works as expected. Simple hook-up. Sound is much improved over the in-TV speakers. Remote is very low tech. The speaker meets my need for more and better sound in my exercise room. I would not be happy using this system as a main entertainment room sound system though. My suggestion is know what you want and buy accordingly.
Pros: Good sound and volume. A relatively inexpensive solution.
Cons: Would have preferred a flat black rather than gloss black finish.
I too was looking for a sound bar to enhance my Samsung 46" TV. Living in an apartment bldg, I didn't want to blow out my neighbors. This fit the bill! Good sound quality and good depth. Makes TV viewing far better than w/ just the built-in speakers. Base is more than adequate for an apartment.
Pros: Good sound quality, base has depth, enhances TV viewing 100%, VERY easy set-up, Bluetooth was easy--music sounds good, if you don't want an entire 5-piece surround system--this is the product for you, gives you that "movie" feeling in your house! Shipping was lighting fast.
Cons: Remote too small--could have been designed much better, buttons too small, a better way to see what volume the sound bar is currently on.
It's music playability was the best feature it had. Watching TV and Movies were terrible! Every show and movie we watched I had to have my thumb on the remote to suddenly change the volume or settings depending on the scene.
Pros: Good music quality and bluetooth
Cons: Everything else needed for a good audio experience.
Hard to beat this Yamaha quality soundbar for the price! Great sound, including subwoofer. Yamaha deals with speakers, and longterm quality company. Easy to hook up and use. Highly recommend.
Pros: All pros, with no complaints on this quality item. Plus, Crutchfield gives technical support as needed.
Cons: No cons. Very pleased with this purchase, and the company purchased from (Crutchfield).
Good for the money
This is a great sound bar for table top use. Good for wall mount bar if you have a TV that is on a standard wall mount (TV face 5" or more off the wall) - check the depth if you have a special low depth TV mount. It was a challenge to mount this on a swing arm mounted TV since there is no means to attach it to the TV. The sound is a sure step up from internal TV speakers and the sound reproduction is good - especially considering the size.
Pros: Good sound for size, easy to use.
Cons: Not designed for attaching to TVs.
Overwhelmingly great sound, the sound of movies and TV shows and music draw you in, become part of experience.
After a lot of shopping I felt this product would work best for the money, plus at the time it was on sale. It came in 2 days. Easy hook up. I have a fairly large room, 28' x 14' and am very pleased with the sound quality, no distortion and the bass is adequate for TV and music. Haven't used the Bluetooth. I don't think you would be disappointed with this product.
Pros: Sound quality, looks, price
Cons: None yet
As a senior citizen who loves british TV shows we were having problems understanding the dialog. This is a marginal aid. The remote is the worst I have ever tried to operate. Buttons are small and crammed together except the volume up/down buttons which are far apart but close to other buttons. We have a Vizio TV with front speakers so maybe the TVs with back speakers could benefit from this sound bar more than we have. All said it is an improvement and right now we are keeping it.
Pros: It is small and compact without a separate bass speaker. The volume has a wide range of settings. Music does sound very good. We generally do not watch movies with a lot of sound effects but I would think it would do a good job for that also. Able to place close to TV so do not need bluetooth.
Cons: Worst remote ever. Small, crammed with buttons with black buttons on a black background. Who thinks of this kind of design? Still trying to figure out how it all works. The buttons must do something. Plastic body which attracts a lot of dust.
This unit solved the problem and did what I wanted. The Bluetooth is a big plus.
Pros: Easy to hook up. Works well.
It was easy to hook up. Worked perfectly the first try. Pleased with the sound as it is in a room that does not allow for top of line system.
Pros: Very good sound and easy hook up
Cons: Only that the voice delay could be more effective for my TV voice sync issues with some stations.
Excellent product for my room size and application
Pros: Easy set up [optical cord included], looks good and no need for subwoofer in normal room size applications
Cons: Voice clarity could be better in some situations
It looks great, sounds great, and is easy to use. Getting it to sinc with the tv remote was not cut and dry as the instructions were not totally clear but we figured it out and are very happy with the product.
very nice feature that has the soundbar learn the remote commands from the TV, so you use the same TV remote. Easy hookup with digital optical cable. I used the bluetooth synch with my cell phone app so I could select a different sound preset (equalization presets) to improve bass response. Even with the built in sub speakers, I wish for more bass, but not bad for regular viewing. Looks good and sounds good.
Pros: style, bluetooth app, remote learning function, decent sound.
Cons: just a bit more bass, please..
Bought this sounder for my 70 year old parents who had difficulty following dialogue. So much better for them, especially clarity of dialogue and reducing background noise during sporting events.
Pros: Much improved clarity versus TV speakers (Samsung) Ease of use and set up. Great value.
Cons: TV must be raised a bit to not not block infrared signal for TV remote. Not a big deal , though.
Remote stopped working one hour out of the box. Yamaha is sending a new one but it has been a week and have not received it yet. Only a slight improvement over thtTV speakers
Cons: Difficult to sink remotes
Easy to use Bluetooth and remote work great
Pros: Sound. Ease of setup
Cons: Dialogue clarity a little muddy
Very happy with the product. Would recommend it
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Still needs the TV's volume input to work proiperly
Bought this to go with a Vizio 32" TV and very happy with the sound it produces. Good clarity on dialogue!
Pros: Dialogue clarity, attractive looks, big sound.
Was considering the Yamaha YAS-103 and the JBL SB100 to install in the bedroom, decided on the Yamaha due to the built in sub. First impression was great, looks good and was easy to set up, only took about 15 minutes to install and set up. The sound is great, has good bass for the size of the unit, with music the sound is very good, it does not go that loud but just enough that you could hear throughout the house, I personally think it could use a bit more clarity for the voice when using it for regular TV programming, with movies the sound is equally as good, the surround sound feature fills the room. The remote is simple and straight forward, I programmed my cable box remote since it also controls the TV and works perfect. Would definitely recommend to others.
Pros: Great sound and easy to set up and use
Cons: No HDMI
Easy install, works as advertised, sounds great
Pros: Easy install
I have a problem hearing dialogue, because of lost hearing during work at a navy shipyard. I hoped that the Yamaha would help me understand the dialogue better.
Pros: Easy to connect.
Cons: Just didn't improve the sound of my Sharp TV as much as I would have liked
Super easy to install, cool app to control it, bluetooth is great too. Excellent quality.
I've only had the sound bar connected a week, but the sound is great! Hookup was very easy. My wife was happily surprised at the quality of the sound! So far, so good!
Pros: great sound, good fidelity
This product lives up to the Yamaha reputation. Sounds quality is excellent. Definitely recommend it
Sound is perfect, and I have a large room (24 x 32). I got rid of 8 speakers (5.1 surround and 2 others for a different unit). My wife loves the fact we got rid of all the speakers and cable clutter. I love the sound and the simplicity. Haven;t programmed everything yet, but I did get rid of the "not available" message on the TV when I try to adjust the speaker sound on the Samsung. My son loves it too, and he is a sound engineer and plays in a couple of bands., He knows a lot about sound and what it should be. So far, I'm very pleased.
Pros: easy connect. great sound. no clutter. good bass.
Cons: using a different remote from time to time (my wife sometimes does that) throws off the "on/off" sequence of the YAS, but it's easily fixable with the YAS remote's menu.
i purschased the yamaha yas-103 soundbar and couldnt be any happier !!! this thing is amazing. i did alot of research and decided this is the one. i called cruthfield and picked their brain on a good soundbar. and sure enough, the yamaha was the first one that came otta his mouth. they matched a slightly lower internet price i found and it was at my house in two days !! installation was a snap. this soundbar has excellent treble. more than enough bass. (the bass isnt even turned all the way ) the surround sound is just perfect!!! the remore is simple and u can make it learn ur tv. mid priced investment but well worth it. i have always been a big fan of yamaha and of course crutchfield is the only place to go when looking for exc home audio equiptment. i even remember 20 years ago buying car audio stuff from them :) BUY THE YAMAHA YAS-103, U WILL BE HAPPY !!
Pros: exc surround sound. great treble and tons of bass. simple to hook up and mount on the wall.
Cons: a little pricey but GOOD home audio equipment isnt cheap
Great sounding, very simple to set up (I'm tech savvy so it might now apply to everyone). The bass is really good, and it really fills the room with sound. I got this for my gfs small apartment. Fills it perfectly.
Pros: Great sound at a good price
I bought this soundbar as an upgrade from my previous Panasonic. Obvious big difference. The sound quality is superior. The highs, mids, and lows sound very good using the digital optical cable for tv(cable),dvd, etc. The built in subwoofer sounds very good as well. Surround sound capability is impressive. Bluetooth is an added feature for my iPhone. Of the two, I prefer the sound of the tv(cable), over the Bluetooth of my iPhone so far.
UPDATED 8/11/14: The limited features of the Yamaha ht controller is a big minus. for sound, you can only adjust the subwoofer. there are no tone controls(bass & treble). that's a big mistake. there are also other features which are only available on more expensive models. the controller is of course in reference to bluetooth mode.
Pros: Very good sound via digital optical cable connection to tv.
Cons: Bluetooth sound via iPhone could be better.
I bought this to install in my motorhome as the TV's sound is affected by the cabinetry. Before installing I decided to try it out on my TV at home. While not as dramatic as my existing surround sound system it is a big step up in sound from the Tv speakers. Connection was simple to my Samsung DLP. One optical cable, one power cable, a few setup steps and I was working. Tried a back and forth comparison between the two and it was amazing. I'm now thinking about getting a larger sound bar for home as this is a lot easier to use than a conventional surround sound system.
Only issue and a minor one was actually a TV problem. I turned the internal speakers of the TV off so the TV sound wouldn't try to follow the remote when using the sound bar. On my TV it display a large "Not Available" message in the middle of the screen when using the volume or remote.
Pros: Great sound. Easy setup. iPad and iPhone app for controlling it via Bluetooth.
The first test of the bar was listening to a Pink concert with the added base. For a little bar, the sound is impressive. It does not present a circle of sound with the appropriate delays. The centrality of the bar is still quite noticeable. However, the fidelity is pristine and the use of the underlying surface to disperse the bass is effective. A good solid wood surface is best. Glass and cheap fiber board surfaces reduce the effectiveness of the bar.
Pros: Easy to set up. Bluetooth is a plus. Good fidelity. Moderate size. Clean design.
Cons: May be improved with a true subwoofer. Otherwise, use on a good wood surface. Ideal for smaller square rooms.
I have an LG 47" LED LCD. I used to use two floor standing front speakers and center speaker by Polk with A Sony receicer. Granted that setup sounded great, but my apartments kept getting smaller. The audio from the TV itself isn't decent until you turn it way up. So I wanted to downsize.
I get my TV with an antenna. The audio sounds great with this soundbar. What I have noticed is not all stations sound the same. Some don't broadcast with a high volume, so you have to adjust the speaker.
I also use a Sony bluray and connect it via digital coax to the speaker. Sounds great. Have to turn down the sub at times so as not to wake the neighbors.
Best part is the Bluetooth. My Nexus 7 2013 edition connects flawlessly and Pandora sounds good enough to me.
Its no top of the line audiophile system but it looks great and sounds good enough to me. Less cables to worry about and takes up less space.
Pros: Bluetooth, sleek looks, remote control programming so my TV remote will power off the speaker too
Cons: Takes some getting used to not having a digital display, but eventually you learn the patterns to the illuminated lights on the front of the speaker.
The YAS-103 was an awesome, relatively cheap way to significantly upgrade my TV audio. This soundbar offers plenty of bass for those wondering; it is also adjustable so you can mess around with it to make it to your liking. The overall audio quality is awesome and gives that home theatre feeling that many want but can't afford. I highly recommend this product!
Pros: Great sound quality, compact, relatively inexpensive, good looking, IR remote repeater.
Cons: Could use a little more connectivity and features, but this didn't bother me.
I had high hopes for this Yamaha YAS-103 Sound Bar, unfortunately, it felt short and underperformed on certain task I wanted it to do.
My breakdown why I gave it 3 stars:
1. 5 Stars to Crutchfield ease of ordering and stellar customer service. I appreciate the security call I received when I placed this order online. Someone from Crutchfield called to verify that indeed a made such purchase and is to be delivered to a different address.
2. 4 Stars to the sound this Sound Bar produces for what it is. It definitely makes viewing TV more pleasurable especially when watching movies through our Yamaha Blu-Ray Player.
3. 2 Stars for Bluetooth functionality. It is quite temperamental. Bluetooth connectivity with all my iOS devices is "hiccup-prone." This has nothing to do with distance/proximity to the Sound Bar itself. My iPhone 5s would be sitting beside the Bar and yet connectivity still suffers. The same goes with my iPad. I will never depend on the Bar's Bluetooth functionality if having a party---this would definitely cause embarrassment. The other disappointment is that Bluetooth functionality is limited to iOS devices (and I believe other smartphones and tablets) only. It doesn't support Bluetooth on any of our Apple computers such as MacBook and/or iMac, hence, playing music directly from your iTunes Library is not possible. Of course, Yamaha can certainly fix this through software updates.
Pros: Sound definitely makes movie-watching enjoyable.
Cons: Bluetooth functionality and capability sucky, sucky, sucky!
This is a great soundbar for the price. I have it setup in the bedroom and it is perfect in sound, style and function, and a huge plus - playing music sounds GREAT on this soundbar!!
Pros: Easy to setup and hang on wall. Playing music through bluetooth is flawless Built in sub
Cons: Nothing so far.
Easy to set up, sounds great, small size, love the Blue Tooth feature.
Pros: Price, size, value

Soundbar Speaker System: The Yamaha YAS-103 is a slim, low-profile soundbar speaker system featuring the latest Air Surround Xtreme technologies from Yamaha and built-in dual-driver subwoofer that delivers a 7.1-channel surround sound from a single speaker unit. The Yamaha is a great addition to your flat-panel TV, replacing your television's miniscule speakers with rich, virtual surround sound. The soundbar's front panel and top have a glossy "piano black" finish that harmonizes beautifully with today's flat-panel TVs, for a stylishly compact home theater system. The YAS-103 soundbar can be table-top or wall mounted below or above your television.
Air Surround Xtreme Technology: Yamaha's exclusive Air Surround Xtreme reproduces 7.1-channel surround sound with high quality, excellent imaging, and rich presence; far superior to that of the speakers in your TV. You'll experience an extremely realistic and impressive sound field, with clear dialogue in the front and dynamic sound action at the back and sides. You can also set the soundbar speaker system to Stereo.
Active Speaker System: The Yamaha YAS-103 soundbar combines two 2.5" front-firing full-range drivers with dual 3.0" down-firing subwoofers driven by a built-in 30W RMS x 2 channel (6Ω, 1kHz, 10% THD) + 60W RMS x 1 channel (3Ω, 100kHz, 10% THD) digital amplifier. Although compact, its excellent structural design provides a large volume enclosure for all speakers. The two 2.5" full-range drivers are housed in separate acoustic suspension chambers, while the dual 3.0" subwoofers are housed together in a separate bass reflex chamber for added efficiency and better bass response.
Note: The grilles protecting the speaker unit is a saran net that allows unimpeded sound flow. All sounds, including vocals and music, are clear and pleasant.
Dual-Driver Subwoofer Design: The dual subwoofers employ large magnets and large-diameter voice coils to realize dynamic and robust bass sound reproduction. This ensures that the overall sound has a rich sense of presence, making movie effect sounds more realistic. The YAS-103 employs dual side-firing bass reflex ports (for the dual subwoofers) that have a straight shape and adequate length to provide outstanding bass response together with the large volume cabinet. The duct outlets are shaped like a trumpet bell, which reduces wind noise for better sound clarity.
Note: You can adjust the soundbar speaker's subwoofer volume independent from the speaker's main volume for added bass response.
Audio Enhancements: The Yamaha YAS-103 soundbar speaker system offers several audio adjustments to enhance your listening experience.
Dolby Digital/DTS Compatible Digital Inputs: The Yamaha YAS-103 soundbar is compatible with popular surround sound formats, such as Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, so you get the full effect of multi-channel movie sound. The YAS-103 soundbar is fitted with three rear-panel digital audio inputs. The active soundbar speaker features two optical digital inputs (labeled TV, BD/DVD) and one coaxial digital input. The soundbar's digital inputs support PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS audio signals (up to 5.1ch). There is also a stereo RCA input for connection of an analog source or if your TV does not have a digital output.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box). That's why we recommend that you run separate digital audio cables from your TV, satellite/cable box, and Blu-ray player to the soundbar speaker for best sound performance.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Yamaha YAS-103 soundbar speaker system supports Bluetooth (v.2.1+EDR) A2DP wireless audio streaming. This allows you to stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device (such as your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/table, or computer/laptop) to the YAS-103 soundbar speaker. You will continue to navigate your music and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled device. This unit pairs with your Bluetooth-enabled device with a single press of a button. Up to 8 devices can be paired, but only one can be used at a time. Once paired, the YAS-103 will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').
Control App (for Apple iOS/Android): The YAS-103 is compatible with Yamaha's Home Theater Control App (HT Controller), available for free download for Apple iOS (5.1+) and Android (2.3.3+) devices. Download this app from the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store. This remote app makes it easy to control the soundbar via a Bluetooth connection; including input selections, master volume, surround modes, and other settings.
Remote Control: The YAS-103's IR remote control is simple and easy to use. It lets you turn the power On or Off, adjust the volume, do other basic operations, and lets you switch the surround modes. The YAS-103 has the ability to "learn" the TV remote control operation, so you can use the TV remote control to turn the YAS-103 On or Off, and to adjust its volume. This allows you to use either the TV remote or the Yamaha remote for easy operation.
Note: Even if the YAS-103 blocks the TV's remote control signal, the IR flasher on the back of the soundbar transmits the signal to the TV so operation is not affected.
Mounting Options Because both speakers and subwoofers are built into the Yamaha YAS-103 soundbar, it fits easily into the available space you have above or below your television. With a height of only 4.1875" (with feet), the YAS-103 can be easily positioned in front of your TV so the soundbar straddles the TV stand, using the included feet. You can remove the feet and hang the YAS-103 on the wall, using the included wall-mount brackets (the soundbar's height is only 3.25" with feet removed). A wall-mounting template is provided. Wall mounting screws not included (sold separately).
Auto Standby: The soundbar will automatically turn off when there is no operation for 8 hours, or not audio input and no operation for 20 minutes.

Hi Lillia, I would assume that it works with a 58" only because I am highly satisfied with the way it works with my 50" Samsung. It provides a nice full sound with impressive bass too. For the price, you cannot go wrong and it keeps the room uncluttered with other surround sound substitutes. I will probably buy another one for my bedroom. Enjoy. [ THOMAS J. May 04, 2015 ]
Hi Lillia. Unfortunately I do not know if it works on a 58 TV. My TV is a little smaller but I really like the product and would purchase it again. I wish I could be of more help. [ BRIAN May 03, 2015 ]
I look for quality and features I have the Yamaha yas-103 on a 46 inch Samsung TV on a 58 inch TV I would use the yamaha yas-1400 [ Ronald D. May 03, 2015 ]
It will work with any sized TV but will look out of place with very large or very small screens. I. Ought it to use in my motorhome with a 37" TV and it is exactly the right size. Before installing it in the RV I hooked it up to my 67" TV to test it out and it was a great improvement to the sound. It did look a little small. [ Glen May 03, 2015 ]
Yes the sound output is great BUTtrying to get the sound bar to be controlled by the TV remote is impossible. [ WILLIAM May 03, 2015 ]

I believe it was the speaker, analog speaker wires (white and red rca) and an optical wire. Use the optical if your TV has the optical outlet. It works great with your TV remote after you program it. [ Edward Dec 02, 2014 ]
It came with 1 power cable/plug which plugs from the unit to the electrical outlet; 1 optical cable which plugs from the unit to other devices (blu-ray player, tv, receiver etc.); remote and the actual unit (sound bar). [ Rale Dec 02, 2014 ]

The Yamaha YAS-103 requires AC power, so you can't take it to a beach. It has plugs that allow you to connect the sound bar to DVD players, etc. You can also connect components via Bluetooth. [ Mike Dec 02, 2014 ]
Yes, thru bluetooth if ypu re using a phone. [ fabrice Dec 02, 2014 ]
Don't think so. Needs power and I run it through optical. Might be able to run it with adapters to RCA cable but would still need power. [ Robert Dec 02, 2014 ]
No, it needs to be plugged into to an outlet for power. [ Irina Dec 02, 2014 ]
Jojo: This sound bar can take various inputs, in addition to the TV. You'll need to plug it in to a 120V AC power source though. So, yes you can take it to the beach and use it for different inputs, but you'll need to have an AC electrical source (or a DC source and inverter to get the AC voltage). Hope this helps. It does require A/C power to work but can connect via Bluetooth or headphone jack to a phone or other music player. I use it in my RV and connect my TV, XM radio, and iphone to it. [ Glen Dec 02, 2014 ]
It is Bluetooth capable but has no battery so a 110 volt power source is needed. If you have the power source I suppose it would be useable elsewhere. [ Scott Dec 02, 2014 ]
Hi Kate, You don't need a tv for this. The bluetooth works great and you don't need to hook anything into your tv to use it. There are a few inputs on this (in addition to bluetooth) so you can hook up a blu ray, cable box etc. if you want to take full advantage of it. Thanks, Sean [ Sean Dec 05, 2014 ]
No, you don't need a TV. [ FABIO Dec 03, 2014 ]
It was built to be a home theater system but you don't necessarily have to use it as such. You could just put it in a room and stream music from your iphone. However, if what you want is a great bluetooth speaker that is half the size of the yamaha at the same price, check out the BOSE SOUNDLINK MINI. [ GABRIEL Dec 03, 2014 ]
This unit can be used as stand alone...just pair it with your iPhone through Bluetooth and you will be enjoying a very rich sound from your iTunes playlists...enjoy:) [ Peter Dec 03, 2014 ]
