Want to add Bluetooth wireless capability to your Yamaha receiver? Pick up the Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth wireless audio adapter and start streaming music from your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone, tablet, or computer. Just connect the included USB cable to your Yamaha receiver's USB port to power this adapter. Then connect it to your receiver's coaxial digital audio input so you can enjoy your smartphone or computer's music capabilities without the hassle of wires. And if your device has aptX® compatibility, music streamed via Bluetooth will sound its best with this compact device. It's a great way to get more out of your Yamaha receiver.
I have and been happy with my Yamaha RX A730 Receiver for quite some time. Unfortunately, this particular receiver does not have built-in blue tooth, but since it is mostly used for a home theater setup, this was not an issue when I bought it. Lately, however, I find that I use the receiver more and more for streaming music, podcasts and even Sirius|XM from my iPhone. Using the USB port on the receiver's front panel was really inconvenient and kept the phone out of reach.
The solution suggested by a Crutchfield support person was the Yamaha YBA-1 Bluetooth® wireless audio adapter for Yamaha receivers. This "dongle" adds the bluetooth functionality to the receiver for a relatively inexpensive cost and a very simple installation. It's hockey puck size module sits unobtrusively on top of the receiver and conects to the receiver via a USB power connection and a coaxial digital input connection (both included) to the amp. It worked flawlessly first time. After adjusting the sound program on the receiver I was really impressed how good the music sounds!
Pros: Relatively inexpensive add to older Yamaha receiver that has no bluetooth. Dead easy to set-up. Great sound from my iPhone. Keeps the device handy instead of tethered to the receiver.
Works as advertised. Crutchfield's offer was lower than every major online seller, who were also selling the product out-of-stock to be shipped from Japan (read long waiting period). The product is still more expensive than it should be, but I couldn't find a better, less expensive product that I could trust. Installed instantly. Worked quite well. I wished it would be shipped with USB charger (see Crutchfield's video review) --- fortunately, I had one at home.
Pros: Easy to install. Works well. Less expensive at Crutchfield. Faster shipping from Crutchfield for free. Trusted brand.
Cons: More expensive than it should be.
I needed to upgrade my system in order to be able to use my system with ITunes or Pandora. I found this little gem of an adapter that matches my Yamaha receiver and it works like charm. The box is Bluetooth detectable and the sounds comes out perfect no noise or interference. Works fine for me. Some people probably want more out of it but I go with simplicity and functionality. Great adapter.
Pros: works fine with my phone or any Bluetooth box. good sound without noise
Cons: None that I could find
Works well good sound
Pros: Easy use
Works well and as advertised. I hooked it to an older Yamaha receiver and had to use an old telephone power supply to plug the USB cord into for power. Easy to pair up with my iPhone 6S.
Pros: Small and easy to hook up Customer service was great troubleshooting the first one that did not work.
Cons: The first one didn't work at all. Crutchfield sent me a new one immediately and it works great.
Bluetooth works as advertised- good range with the R-N500
Pros: Good range
So far so good. Im using it right now. I have been in different rooms of my house and it has not cut or diminished reception at all. I have paired with my iPhone 6 and connected to the the Yamaha A-S801 Integrated Amp.I was informed with the DAC in the amp that the stream may sound even better than if the iPhone were connected with RCA cable, and it is very close. Happy with the purchase.
Pros: easy to connect and stays connected.
Cons: None so far.
There's not a lot to get excited about, but the YBA-11 does what it is designed to do. With my pre-2012 Yamaha receiver (no USB port) I had to find an unused charger and play around with cabling a bit, but it only took a few minutes. For me the extra value came from Adam, Crutchfield's tech advisor, who explained how I could use the YBA-11 with my older, "incompatible" receiver. I'll enjoy having a Bluetooth capability in my system.
Great device for adding bluetooth to your equipment when you're not ready to buy a whole new receiver
Pros: good sound quality
Tried it with a Yamaha 301, and quality was not as good as my old Sony-Ericson Bluetooth receiver. I really didn't like the fact that this BT device did not auto-connect to my tablet, as all of my other BT audio devices do. Sent it back.
Pros: easy to setup
Cons: audio quality, Bluetooth auto-connect
Nice Bluetooth receiver that's very easy to install. Connection as well is super easy to set up and stays connected pretty much instantly once your device is pressed to connect.
Pros: Easy installation and set up is just as harmless.
Cons: Distance should be much greater being that the unit is not very cheap price wise.
Too bad it is discontinued as it is a five star product because it works so well.
Pros: It works simply and well.
Cons: Discontinued must be a newer model to replace it?
I had previously purchased another brand but it sounded horrible. This Yamaha truly sounds as good as a CD!
I have an older receiver that does not have Bluetooth. It was something I wanted. But I am not ready to buy a new receiver yet. So I decided to purchase and the Yamaha YBA-11 and try it out. When it arrived, I read the manual that came with it. On the back of box was quick set-up/install guide which I found to be very helpful. In all honesty, it took me about 7 minutes to hook up. It came with everything I needed. I was completely blown away with how easy it was to use. There were times when I got home from work. I would be listening to music which is on MP3 player. With the YBA -11, I now have the ability to sync and continue listening. I have also, used it with my cellphone. Simply fantastic......hi 5's all around.
Pros: Ease of use and set up.
Cons: They should have added a AC USB Adapter plug, for USB cable.
The Bluetooth accessory works well . The only issue on installation was my Yamaha receiver inputs were not marked as the Bluetooth instructions said. It took trying a couple different inputs on the receiver ,but finally got it. I also had to reprogram my Harmony remote which was expected. Once installed it worked flawlessly!
Pros: Works great
Cons: Installation matching inputs/outputs on the Bluetooth module with my Yamaha receiver
Very pleased with this devise. I was excited to connect my IPhone5 to my Yamaha receiver via bluetooth. Before you purchase though make sure to understand the Digital to analogue devices available, There is a bluetooth devise with Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC) built right inside this small devise. Arcam rBlink I ended up purchasing after purchasing this Yamaha devise. I have both and can do a side by side digital transfers comparisons. Remember a poor quality compressed music file on your phone will always be poor. Get the best files is my point. Uncompressing them is the key.
Ok enough mubo jumbo. This Yamaha devise is excellent. But compressed digital files will always stay compressed. Unless you purchase a device that will uncompress and send off through your receiver.
DAC you very much.
Pros: Easy to hook up and very small.
Cons: NO CONS
Yamaha's YBA-11 BT converter performs just as described. Aside from the input assignment of the jack it was plugged into having to be changed the installation was virtually plug and play. I have yet to experience any connectivity issues. The only negative I experienced was not being able to utilize the adapter via Zone 2 on my RX-A1030. However inconvenient it isn't a deal breaker.
Pros: Works as described. Easy set-up. Cables included. No connectivity issues. Reasonably priced.
Cons: No Zone 2 utilization
Pros: Just pluged it in set up blue tooth and jam
Just purchased this device not long ago and it works great! Hooked it up to my Yamaha RX-V663 receiver, sync with my iPhone and I could not believe my ears, the sound was flawless. Switched over to the 7.1 surround sound and it was like being at the actual concert. The first song I played was Tom Sawyer by RUSH and what a rush it was! If you like music and you don't have this device your missing out on some great sounding tunes.
Pros: It's all good
Works great! I've bought a couple no-name Bluetooth devises similar to this and they stop working soon after the purchase. This one seems to be holding up well.
Pros: Easy Setup
I recently upgraded Yamaha receivers from a RX-V series to the Avantage series. With the old RX-V series, I used the older Yamaha YBA-10 with the dedicated cable that fit the back of those older receivers. Many blogs confirmed what I heard each time I used the bluetooth function of the receiver; a very high pitch whine that was annoying to listen to my music. Yamaha confirmed there was a problem but did not offer a solution. It almost lost hope in Yamaha but when shopping for receivers, I found the Avantage receiver and the new YBA-11. When researching the receiver, it said that it wasn't bluetooth capable which disappointed me initially. But, when I searched for the YBA-11 and read in depth about its compatibility with other receivers, the reviews gave me the great news that it would work with any receiver with a USB port and a line in input. And, what is better than the new receiver, is that the horribly annoying high pitch whine is GONE!!! Thank you Yamaha and thank you Crutchfield!
Pros: No high pitch whine like in older models Easy to pair Easy to hook up
I purchased the Yamaha YBA-11 to go with my new Yamaha RX-S600 receiver. This Bluetooth interface worked perfectly as soon as I plugged it in and paired it to my I-phone. Excellent sound quality.
Pros: Ease of use and set-up
So this last little part, the adapter turned out to be critical as I live in a condominium and although I have wireless, it wasn't strong enough to play music from my I-Phone.
So...Steve who installed my receivers and speakers, put this in and presto! I actually can turn it on from outside or in my outside hall! I now have 60" television, great receiver and speaker set and yeah of course the blu-ray. Movies now are fantastical! Wireless tunes with music coming out of every corner of my living room (and soon office). I am so happy! Thank goodness I didn't buy the boxed set and found Crutchfield and Steve! Great products, great service....I couldn't have asked for more!!
Oh yeah, thought it may be difficult to figure out everything but no! And that's from someone who has gone from no-tech to high-tech :). I always laughed at my boys who always had to have the latest and the greatest but now, I out-tech them!
Thank you Crutchfield!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
EL YAMAHA YBA-11 funciona perfectamente bien y es facil de instalar. AHORA PUEDO ESCUCHAR TODA MI COLECCION DE MUSICA DESDE MI CELULAR CON CALIDAD DE CD.
The Yamaha YBA-11 works great and is easy to install. Now I can listen to my entire collection from my cellphone with CD quality sound.
Pros: tiene buen sonido,se escucha claro y con fidelidad. It has good sound, very clear and high fidelity.
Cons: nada en contra NoneCrutchfield response on August 14, 2013 Translation provided by Crutchfield's Spanish Sales & Support team. Visit our new Spanish-language site at www.crutchfieldenespanol.com:
I bought this for an Onkyo A-9050 (Integrated Amplifier with DAC). I power the Yamaha YBA-11 receiver with a 5W USB Power Adapter (not included). The range and audio quality is great with all of my smartphones and computers with Bluetooth. This is a great solution if Apple AirPlay or Apple TV aren't right for you.
Works great, sounds great, couldn't be simpler to install and use. For my Android devices, this is the simplest way to get audio to my home theater system.
Pros: Uses USB power and digital coax connection. I would expect this to work fine with any setup that provides those.
Cons: Obviously, you'll need to buy something else if you don't have an available coax input. USB power adapters, though, can be purchased for peanuts if your receiver doesn't have a USB power output.
Add-on Bluetooth Audio Receiver: The Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth Audio Receiver can be used to wirelessly connect your Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices with a 2012-up Yamaha AV receiver. The YBA-11 connects to the digital coaxial audio input on the back of the Yamaha AV receiver and is powered by the rear-panel DC Out/USB type-A port (5V/0.5A) of the receiver, so there is no need to take up an additional electrical outlet.
Yamaha Receiver Compatibility: The Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth Audio Receiver is compatible with 2012-up Yamaha AV receivers that feature a rear-panel digital coaxial audio input and rear-panel DC Out/USB type-A port (5V/0.5A).
Note: The Yamaha YBA-11 can also be used with other audio components that feature a rear-panel digital coaxial audio input, but will require a USB-to-AC power adapter (sold separately).
Bluetooth A2DP: The Yamaha YBA-11 features Bluetooth A2DP which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, laptop/computer, or other mobile device. You can stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device. Music navigation and song/artist information will still be handled by your Bluetooth-enable mobile device (not the Yamaha AV receiver).
Simple Pairing: The Yamaha YBA-11 can be paired with your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device with a single press of a button. Once paired, the YBA-11 will automatically re-connect with your Bluetooth device when in range (up to 33').
aptX CSR Technology: The Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth Audio Receiver incorporates aptX CSR technology for better sound quality. aptX audio coding delivers CD-quality wirelessly over Bluetooth, enabling users to lose the wires without compromising on audio quality. With the aptX audio codec source material is transparently delivered over the Bluetooth wireless link, whether it is stored uncompressed or in an alternative compression (MP3, AAC, FLAC) format. Low audio coding delay minimizes latency and lip-sync issues.
USB Powered: The Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth Audio Receiver is powered by the rear-panel USB type-A port (5V/0.5A) of your 2012-up Yamaha AV receiver; so no additional electrical outlet is needed. Power is supplied to the YBA-11 when the connected Yamaha receiver is powered "On".
Note: Do not connect the included USB power cable to a USB hub.

You should be able to connect it to your Yamaha receiver. I had to get a adapter that plugs into my power strip and changes 110v to 1 or 2 hdmi outlets. the other is RCA that should do it for you. [ William Jan 17, 2016 ]
Yes [ TREY Jan 17, 2016 ]
You can use it with your receiver if you have a digital coaxial audio input. you just have to put a usb adapter for 5vdc that plugs into household outlet. [ ANGEL G Apr 01, 2015 ]
The YBA-11 can be used on any device that has coaxial digital input. It does not know or care if it is connected to a Yamaha. I am using it on a DENON. It comes with a USB cable for power from any powered USB jack. I use an old (way before 5S) standard Apple charger cube which that supplies 5V @ 1A. [ MARK Mar 31, 2015 ]
I can't remember the model number of my Yamaha receiver (bought it in 2008) but I do have it powered by my the Iphone usb plug that came with my IPhone as well. Works fine. [ James Mar 30, 2015 ]
I use it with my Yamaha Receiver, off hand I do not have the model # but it is approx. 1-12 years old and has a digital coaxial input, I power with the power supply that was supplied and simply plug into an available outlet like any other Bluetooth device, works with my Iphone 5 and ITunes from my computer. No problems, easy hookup, good sound. [ DALE M Mar 30, 2015 ]
It comes with everything you need to connect to RX-V475. Both cables, nothing else to buy and nothing you need to supply from your IPhone. Trust me I have the same setup. Hope this helps. [ JOHN Mar 30, 2015 ]

yamaha yba-11 does not work with RCA connection only works with coaxial connection. [ ANGEL G Dec 16, 2014 ]
Yes and no. If you plug the power supply into the switched outlet on your receiver then it will do what you want. Otherwise it will always be on (not really a big deal either) [ rockinricker Oct 01, 2014 ]
It doesn't have an on switch. The blue indicator light comes on when it receives a pairing signal and the receiver is powered on. [ Douglas Oct 01, 2014 ]
It is powered by a USB plug. If your amp has a USB port but goes on and off with the adapter can be powered through it. I powered mine from power module so it is always on. It doesn't use much power. [ MARK Oct 01, 2014 ]
As long as it's connected to the amp it is powered on even if amp is in standby mode. It gets its power from the amp and does not have a separate AC power cord. Hope this helps [ JOHN Oct 01, 2014 ]
Unfortunately it is not compatible, and the adapter that was compatible is no longer made. However, the BTA 10 from Harmon Kardon should work with your receiver: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_532BTA10/Harman-Kardon-BTA-10.html?tp=2051 [ Jeff Aug 22, 2014 ] Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: If you mean the RXV377 then yes you can use the YBA11 and they are compatible. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jul 07, 2014 ] Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Yamaha does not list the YBA-11 Bluetooth Adapter as being compatible with the RX-V361. An alternative would be the Cobra CWA BT 150 (079AIRWAVE) for $39.99. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jun 09, 2014 ] Staff
Bluetooth allows for wireless connection so you can have your iphone or ipad with you elsewhere in the house and not tethered to the receiver. Some receivers with built in Airplay do the same thing with Apple products. [ GEORGIOS Mar 08, 2014 ]
my yamaha receiver does not have usb port [ ANGEL G Mar 08, 2014 ]
You can use the USB through the front of the receiver as an option. However adding the Yamaha YBA-11 lets you play music from across the room, in another room and keep our device with you to control the music and use it at the same time. Works great! [ David Mar 07, 2014 ]
Thanks all, for your feedback. I see that the YBA-11 allows you to use your iphone and other gadgets wirelessly. I will consider this option. [ sharon Mar 07, 2014 ]
I wanted to use the wireless Bluetooth. [ JohnOlson Mar 07, 2014 ]
Don't see why not. I use the DVD for mine. Call Yamaha and ask [ DAVID Mar 07, 2014 ]
I believe you can, but the YBA-11 lets you play music wirelessly, which is nice. [ JOHN F. Mar 07, 2014 ]
I connected mine to digital coaxial in on my 10 year old Yamaha receiver and it works great. Not familiar with the Bose setup, but if it digital coaxial in you should be all set, plug in it in change to that source and enjoy. [ DALE M Jan 21, 2014 ]
Only if you have digital coax input, it looks like an RCA but it is a single digital cable not an analog r/l pair [ rockinricker Jan 19, 2014 ]
I'm sure it would work fine as long as you have an audio input jack on the back of the Bose. I have it hooked up on the back of my Yamaha receiver and it works just fine. The range is probably around 12 feet max from my own experience [ ANDREW Jan 19, 2014 ]
