You've stored all your music in the MP3 or WMA format, and you want a simple way to play tunes in your car — Blaupunkt's Adelaide 130 digital media receiver offers a variety of ways to connect your music in one sharp-looking car stereo. You can also take it old school by listening to radio broadcasts using the built-in AM/FM tuner.
Plug a thumb drive into the Adelaide's front-panel USB port, and you'll have access to all your favorite MP3 and WMA music files. If you have more music on an SD card, this receiver features an SD card slot behind its faceplate. And if your music lives on a portable like the Astell & Kern music player, you can plug it into the front aux input.
In addition to all the ways you can listen to your music, the Adelaide 130 helps you get the best sound out of it. With three EQ presets, you can tailor the sound the way you want it. You'll find the set of RCA preamp outputs convenient for hooking up an amp or a powered subwoofer for more impact.
Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.
So far this has worked just the way I expected. It was very simple to install. I haven't tried to play music off a memory card yet, the primary reason I ordered it was to have an Aux In to play music from my phone. I'd say this was a good value. 2 days after I purchased the radio, it went on sale for $10 less and Crutchfield refunded me the $10. I've purchased before from Crutchfield and will continue to do so in the future.
I bought this stereo as a replacement to my 2004 F150 OEM and it has been in use for about a month. It was very easy to install and it delivers very good sound quality even though it is very light and compact. The installation kit and harness were easy to install. I was able to replace my factory system w/speakers for under $150 and it sounds great.
Pros: Ease of installation, sdCard use, great price, Crutchfield team: I ordered the wrong dash kit and the support team sent me the correct one without ANY additional cost.
Cons: small detail...the knob to adjust volume is small and smooth so it can be a little challenging to adjust, but the remote works just fine instead.
Great unit for the price. I really like the idea of the SD card as an input. It also has a USB input. You are really going to need to use the great user manual on this one, because these units have become more complex. Ample volume.
Pros: SD card; night lighting adds drama
Cons: A bit complicated to set up unless you use the User manual.
Looks sharp. Intuitive design. Well built. It took me longer to select the stereo than it did to install it. A lot of other stereos had complaints about the displays being too bright at night. The stereo allows you to set the brightness for day and night. The kit included a wiring harness that auto dims the display with the headlights are on. If you don't wire it, there's also a manual option that dims the display by touching one button. Well thought out.
Very easy to use and the sound quality is excellent. It replaced an older Blaupunkt. I tried to stay with the original due to the Rover was intially sold in Germany. Perfect fit!
Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: Complexity of use
Great product. Was delivered within 2 days of order! Will definitely order again from Crutchfield
This is almost everything I was looking for. I don't need CD's when I can pop in a memory card or flash drive with 32G of music. This is fairly inexpensive, small, and light since it doesn't have a CD player. This randomly gives SD card errors and I need to re-seat the memory card to correct it, but it seems to play the USB port w/o issues. My friend in Ohio has the same unit and his does the exact same thing. If it wasn't for those errors it would be perfect for my needs.
Pros: Will play a 32G memory card or USB flash drive and it remembers where it left off when you start it back up. If you put your music in folders it lets you jump from folder to folder (a very nice feature). Sounds pretty good for the price.
Cons: SD card errors (need to re-seat the memory card to correct).
Great product for the price
I bought a 2001 vw Golf with a broken head unit and needed a replacement. My dad has a blaupunkt so I figured sticking with a German brand would be a good choice. My only requirements was an auxiliary port and am/fm radio. This has met all my needs and thanks to crutchfield installation after soldering it only took 10 minutes.
Pros: Auxiliary input USB input Am/fm radio reception Matched interior lighting for Volkswagen Easy installation (crutchfield kit was perfect)
Works good, looks good, easy install..........now to figure out how to operate it...very complicated....finally got the clock to appear...still trying to set the time. All I play is my USB music. came with a scratch on the face and the paint popped off where the scratch is. Price was good.
Pros: easy install
Cons: too complicated
Cost was the main concern, and this was a great value. Helped take the car from 1999 factory to the age of digital downloads. Easy to install, menu is a bit cumbersome, but makes a world of difference.
Pros: SD, USB, auxiliary
Cons: Menu a bit awkward, but may needle less so with use.
Chinese build. Very clean interface, doesn't look gimmicky. Operation complex, all the controls have multiple functions, long push for this, short push for that, etc. Not as simple to use as it looks. Can't comment on sound quality yet.
Pros: Clean look, standard installation.
Cons: Complex controls, small print on face difficult to see.
I love this stereo. It looks great. Sounds great and it was easy to install. The sound and ease of use are more than I expected.
Pros: Sounds great. Easy to install.
Cons: SD card behind faceplate
Unit works well looks great in the dash. Sounds amazing in my S 500
Pros: Look and easy installation with the install kit that is available with this purchase. i have loaded over 1000 songs on the SD card. Its like having satellite radio for no monthly charge!
Good radio sound
Pros: Radio sounds great
Cons: Difficult controls. Plays for one hour and shuts offCrutchfield response on March 23, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
I prefer to keep my car stock, but with the stereo failing I looked for an upgrade that would also look somewhat retro and would weather well. This stereo exceeds my expectations. I love using a USB memory stick as opposed to CDs. It means there is less in my car to attract the attention of thieves, which is crucial when you have a soft top that is frequently left down. The look is very low key, and the sound is way better than I thought I would get without upgrading speakers.
Pros: Low-key appearance, USB slot, removable faceplate, exquisite sound
Straight forward install. The radio sounds good. The overall sound is very good. I'm not an audiophile and I have the factory speakers in my Honda Accord. They say the largest USB or SD card usable is 32GB but I have used a 64GB. I don't recommend it though because the "browse folder" option is not available with a 64GB drive. You can put more than 400 albums in MP3 on a 64GB drive and if you can't browse directories to find an album it don't do you much good. The 64GB drives might be usable on other systems, difference is 64GB drives come formatted in exFAT which won't with most radios. FAT32Format which is freeware will format the 64GB drives with FAT32.
Pros: Easy install, good sound, plays SD cards and USB drives, looks nice. I like that this radio has an easy dimmer and it doesn't try to look like a light show.
Cons: The controls are small. There is a learning curve for this unit, but that's life. Buy a new digital watch and read through one of those manuals :)
Just what I wanted plenty of power easy to use
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Owners manual very basic
i had the factory VW deck in my car since my after-market CD player failed a couple of years ago, and i was making do with an FM transmitter for mp3's. nice concept, but tunes would fade in and out any time a bus with GPS came near me in traffic, or if a strong radio signal overpowered the transmitter. so i was looking for an affordable deck with AM, FM, and digital.
the adelaide 130 fit the bill perfectly. after reading the fine manual and planning, removal and install took less than an hour. the included chassis fits tight in the radio slot, and went in with minimal effort. Crutchfield included the factory deck removal tools, and various wiring harnesses that weren't needed: the VW factory wiring harnesses (2, plus antenna) are a perfect match for the blaupunkt deck.
while it's not the sexiest-looking receiver and the controls are a little clunky, the sound is incredible. the 17-year-old factory speakers handle the adelaide's rich digital audio beautifully - but i could see this deck blowing them out if i'm not careful. aux in and USB both offer great sound reproduction. my next purchase may well be an SD card writer, if for no other reason than to have music at my fingertips without carrying a thumb drive or an mp3 player.
if you're looking to spiff up the sound system in an older VW easily and affordably, this is the deck for you.
and 5 stars to Crutchfield, my go-to electronics store for 25 years! i told my wife to look no further when christmas shopping.
UPDATE 12/30/14: i said that the provided wiring harnesses weren't needed. i was wrong, and taking a shortcut caused my car's alarm system to go batty. so i uninstalled - and reinstalled as Crutchfield directed - which fixed the problem.so i'd like to tell potential buyers of that deck to1. read the manual more carefully than i did and2. just do as Crutchfield's installation experts advise... the first time.unfortunately, i'd also like to slightly downgrade the ease-of-use rating for this deck. the sound still rocks, though.
Pros: ease of installation, price, sound quality
Cons: 9-digit display with less-than-smooth scrolling, controls are a little awkward
We weren't looking for anything special, just a replacement for our dying factory receiver. This more than does the job, and lets me plug my phone directly into it for playing music.
Pros: Not overrun with buttons.
Cons: buttons are a bit on the small side.
Great stereo for budget minded people who don't need a cd player since they have moved their music to, or purchased either MP3 or Windows media music files. The reason I purchased this stereo for my Jeep Liberty was due to my OEM Jeep stereo eating a cd and not ejecting it back out, not to mention it did not have an aux input or MP3 play capability like the Blaupunkt Adelaide 130 has. Now with the Blaupunkt Adelaide 130, I do not have to worry about a cd player dying on me, taking my fav CD with it, since there is no a CD player. Sound quality was just ok until I found the X-Bass setting and activated it. That brought it to life! Now it sounds nice for an under $100 unit..and pretty close to the factory OEM stereo I removed, but now my '05 Jeep is way more modern with this unit in it! This was my first time buying from Crutchfield and it was a great, perfect experience. I am very happy!!!
Pros: Price, Quality, No moving parts (No CD Player), Crutchfield ease of purchase and fast shipping.
Awesome radio this is the second one I have purchased from crutchfield especially from this brand very happy with the product
Pros: Easy to use and install
I haven't bought a stereo in quite a long time, but needed one for my Toyota T100 work truck. Although the truck already had a decent 6 CD changer in it the head had died. I decided that I really just needed a unit that played AM/FM and MP3s. I was delighted to see that the Adelaide did that and nothing more and at a great price. I've always bought Blaupunkts for my vehicles in the past and was excited to see that the quality is still high and the design still thoughtful. Simple and well made, this unit is a great value.
Pros: Easy to install (with the Crutchfield kit). Sound is great, even through the stock truck speakers. Price was great.
Cons: None that I've found so far.
Great value, easy install, good looking @ night.
Pros: Able to use my iphone w/the radio.
Easy to install. USB does not work, waiting on back-ordered product to replace installed unit.
I have to give this unit a poor review, simply because of, in my case, its high failure rate (100%) in a very short period of time (1 month). I have gone through three of these (Crutchfield provided a replacement each time because of these failures)
The units all failed by suddenly being unable to read/play MP3 files on either USB thumb drives or on SD cards. The same basic sequence of events occurred each time:
1) Unit was on, playing an SD card, doing fine at the moment 2) Car was parked, engine turned off, key removed. Unit was turned on at the time, SD card was inserted. 3) After returning to car and starting engine, unit came back "on" as expected, since it was previously left on. 4) The unit displayed the "SD" indicator (normal) but would not play it. Display returned to clock (not normal). 4A ) I turned the unit off / on via it's power on button; no change. Unit 'saw' the SD card, 'read" the SD card, didn't play. 4B) I turned the unit off / on, removed/reinserted SD card ... see 4A 4C) I turned the unit off, removed the SD card, turned the unit on, radio portion worked fine. 4D) Inserted USB drive, unit "recognized" its presence, "read" it (presumably reading the directory), wouldn't play it.
I've been through every iteration / sequence I could think of but in the end, neither of those media would be played.
Pros: Excellent value, excellent quality, excellent ease of use, excellent (I guess ... not important to me) Coolness Factor. Beyond excellent customer service by Crutchfield. All in all they provided me with 3 of these in total (the original and 2 replacements). There were no arguments nor questions asked, the Crutchfield folks simply did the right thing: "we'll send you out a new one, and a return shipping label for the old one. When you get the new one, send back the old one"
Cons: Very high failure rate (100%). Very short failure times (1 day to 2 weeks). Very small sample size (3 units in succession). I, and Crutchfield, have given up on this unit and I'm waiting for a similarly priced, similarly featured replacement from a different brand. I noted with some interest that even as I write this, the unit is displayed as "Out of Stock". I figure that's because there were only 3 in stock in the first place, and I've gone through all of them. Might be a bad run of units?
Put this in my 2003 Corvette. It is a great little deck, however there are not very many settings. All of the EQ is pre-set. You can adjust Treb, Base, fade and balance, but that is where it stops. You really cannot control mid-range or highs and lows. It's a little frustrating, but for the price I suppose that is OK? Overall though, good deck!
Pros: Simple, Easy to install and use
Cons: Lack of personalization, no real audio adjustments
For the price, an excellent unit.
Nice radio, easy to hook up. Excellent quality. I think it looks good in my 1986 IROC-Z.
I got this radio specifically because the when I searched on Crutchfield, it indicated it worked with steering wheel controls without the need for an adapter. It is in its own category on saying "Built in" for steering wheel controls.
Turns out, that is not true at all. This unit requires an adapter the same as 85 other stereos with much more robust features at the same or a lower price point.
I am disappointed in Crutchfield and really had hoped for more from them. When I called they basically told me "Too bad, sorry. Buy an adapter."
Pros: Decent styling Pretty good sound for the cost
Cons: Steering wheel controls are NOT built in No bluetooth, ipod, pandora, etc.Crutchfield response on July 14, 2014 Making a vehicle's steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket stereo always requires a special adapter to translate the steering wheel button signals to commands that the stereo will understand, since every vehicle manufacturer does this differently. We would gladly help the customer return this stereo and get a different one along with an adapter for the steering wheel controls. We urge every customer to contact us before placing their order so that we can make sure they're getting exactly what they're looking for. We also offer a generous 60 money back guarantee for situations just like this.when things go wrong, we want to help make them right.
This radio really brought my factory speakers to life, it's hard to believe OEM speakers can sound that good. But with his head unit it is definitely possible. This is my second Blaupunkt mechless head unit, but this one can handle a 32 GB card.....hours of sweet digital music!
Pros: A huge Pro for this head unit is that I was also able to integrate the OEM steering wheel controls using just this head unit without an adapter being necessary....found the pin out online....enough said.
Title says it all, "Very Pleased!". Replaced the factory radio and looks and sounds great. The power of the Blaupunkt made my stock speakers come to life. There is nothing fancy about the radio and has all the features I was looking for; aux input, preamp outputs, SD card and USB. Very happy with my purchase.
Pros: Aux, preamp, SD card, remote, simple display design and functionality
I bought this to replace the factory unit in my Dodge Ram 2500 non nav. Sound quality is very good through the factory speakers. SD card or thumb drive is nice plus the 1/8 input jack. Not a lot of bells and whistles but that's expected at this price.
Pros: Very nice appearance without all the gawdy colors and flash. If your music is on digital media and you don't want the teenager look in your dash this is a great choice!
Cons: Sound quality is much improved from the stock unit but it only has treble and bass adjustments. No midrange hurts an otherwise nice inexpensive unit. The user interface isn't intuitive but you get used to it fairly quick. Thumb drive door feels flimsy.
I replaced the factory stereo in my 02 Ford Ranger with this and also added four Polk DXi461 coaxials. I wasn't going for audiophile or thumpiness, just a replacement for worn out OE stuff and the upgrade that allows me to use computer aged music storage instead of compact discs. I got everything I was after and more with the Adelaide130 and Polk. Blaupunkt equipment is solid, with in this case , one twist knob with click stops and settings and controls accessed via a minimal and easy to navigate menu system. Colored lights are blue and red and the display is a small 9 character black and white. Some reviews for other Blaupunkt models complain that the display is hard to read in sunlight but that has not been my experience at all. The amp drives the Polks very nicely, louder than factory and good clean sound even at the higher range of the volume control. As with every car unit the music source has a great deal to do with the sound so an MP3 ripped at 128kbps will not produce sound that is as good as one ripped at 192 or 320. The manual says that the unit will handle as many as 20,000 music files which is ridiculous(in my opinion) so a lesser number of files on a 4 gig sd card ripped at 320kbps should be nice. If one remembers that the function of this unit is to play music that one can listen to... not an automotive disco ball or an ear damaging mobile steel box, this is a great option. And I have absolutely no need for bluetooth and if you need it look elsewhere.
Pros: No unnecessary bells and whistles Classy understated looks Low price...great value with no sacrifice of quality Great sound for majority of listeners/drivers Easy install...it's from Crutchfield afterall
Cons: none for me but since this unit does not have many higher end options it's not for everyone.

Blaupunkt is a reliable company. I have found they have higher sound quality than competitors at comparable prices. I like the ease of set up and how clean the looking design of their products also. [ Christopher Ada Feb 07, 2016 ]
Good price with the features I wanted [ Larry Feb 07, 2016 ]

Hi DavId - Sorry I didn't have use of this Blaupunkt for too long and cannot answer how it'll do with a 32GB SD card. But I would highly recommend this Blaupunkt to anyone or any Blaupunkt in general. Cheers! [ 1st Still Jan 23, 2016 ]
I haven't tried anything larger than 32G. Both mine and a friends unit periodically require the SD card to be re-seated so we both use a low profile 32G USB flash drive that doesn't have that issue. [ JOHN Jan 23, 2016 ]
It should take a 32 gb sdhc card. I think it takes up to 64gb [ Keith Jan 23, 2016 ]
I use a 64 gb SD card. Any size should be ok. [ Wayne Jan 23, 2016 ]

This unit is only 2 channel so if your Mercedes has four or more speakers then this isn't the one your looking for. As to the question of easy to use I'd say yes. Considering how many features there are the menus are intuitive and easy to understand. [ jason Jan 06, 2015 ]
Hi David, More power? I don't know since I only had a decker europa radio in it. The blaupunkt is definitely better then the old radio. The unit is not intuitive, but reading and using the manual gives a result. (strange though, old blaupunkts were so easy to work with) Greetings [ Eduard Jan 05, 2015 ]
Not sure about power but unit is easy to use, easy to hook up, and works great. [ Anthony Jan 05, 2015 ]
Don't know about the power comparison, but I selected this receiver because of its control simplicity and I like it. No complaints to date. Speaking of East Texas, I'm headed there in a few weeks. God's country! [ Neal Jan 05, 2015 ]
No. I would not buy the Blaupunkt. I bought it because of the name and features and had to return it. (It does not like small thumbdrives, and it is NOT intuitive at all) Crutchfield recommended the Kenwood KMM-108U which is a Digital Media Player, but with more power, great sound, and can play all digital file formats I have (The Blaupunkt only accepts pretty much MP3). It is the same price as the Blaupunkt. [ Donald Jan 05, 2015 ]
No access to the Mercedes stereo specs so I'd advise trying a Merc dealer...maybe they can provide specs (but I doubt it). You might try searching Mercedes forums. As far as the Blaupunkt goes, this is an excellent stereo that doesn't have all the silly colors or unnecessary knobs. Menu system is easy and the stereo works well. I wouldn't put anything else in a Mercedes. I'm very pleased with mine but it sounds like you need to do some more homework. [ Pat Jan 05, 2015 ]
I believe it has more power than the stock unit in the 1999 C Class. It certainly sounds so! Insofar as the ease of use, my wife (let's say she and electronics don't agree) states that the Blau is the best receiver and easiest to use ever. She finds the USB functions extremely easy to use as well. That was a previous problem with other units. I also have the same unit in my 04 Jeep, exposed to the Texas Gulf humidity and have had no problems whatsoever. [ Joseph Jan 05, 2015 ]
It was very easy to use and has excellent sound quality. I would easily buy this stereo again. Also, I would recommend getting the plug and play harnesses as they make install a breeze. [ Keith Jan 05, 2015 ]
I send this stereo back and upgraded to a better kenwood. [ Donald Jan 05, 2015 ]
