Selectable high-pass filters let you clean up the sound even more, by removing the extreme low rumble from your full-range speakers, great if you're using a subwoofer.

Blaupunkt will power your music

Blaupunkt's EMA 455 4-channel amplifier will power your front and rear car speakers with 55 watts RMS each — plenty enough to give you the extra clarity and impact you want for your music. Selectable high-pass filters let you clean up the sound even more, by removing the extreme low rumble from your full-range speakers, great if you're using a subwoofer.

Bridged to 2-channel mode, the EMA 455 can run two high-performance speakers or subwoofers with up to 165 watts each. Variable low-pass filters give you extra control over your sub, and a bass boost lets you bump up your punch a couple of notches when you need it.

A heavy aluminum heatsink helps keep this compact amp running cool and reliably. Speaker-level inputs let you connect it to a factory radio with no RCA outputs, so you won't need a line output converter or other device in order to play music.

Q
It says separate bass boost for fr/rr channels, but there is only one switch, how does it work?

I believe that the base enhancement circuits are separate for each set of channels due to potential differences in the speakers-- in other words, you may have smaller front speakers, different balance/fade settings etc., so in order to boost uniformly between the speakers they utilize separate speakers. In other words, they want to make sure that you get 6 db in each set of speakers regardless of differences in speaker size etc. You may want to boost one set of speakers more than another, but they made a different design decision.

There is two different bass boost switches one for front channels and one for the rear.. This is basically two amps in one . A front channel amp and a rear channel amp. I have the two rear channels bridged and hooked to a 4 ohm sub and the front two channels hooked to two 6s in the my rear doors. I have both the bass boost settings in the middle setting I think.. That's really not the most important settings with this amp actually. Dialing in your front and rear channels for low or high pass is what is really gonna make your sub hit and get your sounds clear. Bass boost settings also depend on the receiver your running.. Bottom line this amp for he money does everything I want it to do and more..

There are two switches, one for each "bank", Front and Rear. If you look at the input side of the amp you can see them as the outermost switches (the controls are laid out symmetrically).

I have a blaupunkt brisbane 230 stereo. I have tried to connect my blaupunkt ema 455 remote power wire to the power antena wire. The amp switches off after a couple of minutes. Where should I connect the remote power line to the stereo?

Q
What is the amp's input impedance?
nathan  Aug 21, 2015

A
The high level inputs on my unit measure at 200 Ohms DC. The RCA inputs measure at 17kOhm. There may be some filtering (e.g. DC blocking), so the real impedance may be lower. At the lowest, I'd expect the RCA to be ~10k Ohm, and the High level inputs to be ~20 Ohm for frequencies in the audio band. There is some isolation between the RCAs and ground, which is good (I haven't had any issues with noise on this amp).

Q
Can this amp be used to run the front stage off of 2 channels and bridge the other 2 to run a subwoofer?
kevin  Nov 07, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You can run that amp in a 3 channel mode. The front speakers would get 55 watts RMS power each. The back 2 channels could be bridged together and provide 165 watts RMS power for a subwoofer. It is also important to note that the when bridged the subwoofer channel would only be stable at a 4 ohm resistance. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
