Blaupunkt will power your music

Blaupunkt's EMA 455 4-channel amplifier will power your front and rear car speakers with 55 watts RMS each — plenty enough to give you the extra clarity and impact you want for your music. Selectable high-pass filters let you clean up the sound even more, by removing the extreme low rumble from your full-range speakers, great if you're using a subwoofer.

Bridged to 2-channel mode, the EMA 455 can run two high-performance speakers or subwoofers with up to 165 watts each. Variable low-pass filters give you extra control over your sub, and a bass boost lets you bump up your punch a couple of notches when you need it.

A heavy aluminum heatsink helps keep this compact amp running cool and reliably. Speaker-level inputs let you connect it to a factory radio with no RCA outputs, so you won't need a line output converter or other device in order to play music.

I replaced the stock speakers in all four doors. I'm running two sets of Infinity components off of this amp, and they sound great! I crank it as loud as i can stand, clarity is great! Amp only gets slightly warm, no over heating problems. Very happy with this purchase.

Great little amp

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the entire factory Mach 460 system in my 2003 Mustang GT convertible. I am using this Blaupunkt amp to run Kicker 6x8 component speakers in the front and Kicker 6.5" coaxial speakers in the rear. The amp has plenty of power for these smaller speakers. I can turn it up as loud as I can stand it and the sound remains clear and crisp with no apparent clipping or distortion. Properly powered, the speakers put out a surprising amount of bass. The amp appears to have plenty of options for different kinds of installs. I've never wired up a car with a separate amplifier before but it was pretty simple to figure out. Now that I've seen what proper amplification can do I am considering picking up another of these amps to put in my truck. A head unit pushing 17 watts per channel can not compete with a dedicated amplifier.

Pros: Small footprint. Adequate power for door speakers, etc. Good budget amp.

Cons: None yet.

Awesome amp

I installed this in my Yukon to replace the factory amp which had gone bad. I put my back two door speakers which are 61/2" kenwoods to 2 channels and bridged the other 2 channels to run a Rockford fosgate 8" 4ohm sub. The clarity and sound is very clear. Im very happy with my purchase..

Pros: Distortion level is very low, Amp has adjustments to dial things in..

Cons: none

A great upgrade. I replaced the OEM amp in my FR-S with this to get more volume out of the door speakers, and later to add a sub. Even just replacing the door speaker amp was a significant improvement. More interface options (variable high-pass, and phase select) would be kind of nice, but keeping the input chain simple is the way to go since most modern head units have time delay.

Pros: -Clean sound -Simple setup (if you already have sufficient amp wiring)

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit to be able to push new speakers that I had installed in my car (2015 Kia Soul), I liked that the footprint of the unit was not too big. The unit had more than enough power to push the new speakers. The sound in the car now is well balanced, before the Sub was overwhelming the rest of the speakers because they did not put out enough sound.

Pros: Easy to install and the footprint was not too large, plenty of power. I liked that the unit supported four different speaker configurations.

Cons:

Clean and Clear Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this amp in my 2001 Porsche Boxster in place of the Haes 4x40. Huge improvement in the clarity of sound and I now have the ability to set the crossover if I want to. I had to make an adapter from the factory quick connector to transition to the RCA and lug terminals, but that was not too difficult. I wanted the ability to go back in case this unit did not provide the desired sound. No worries there -- I will not be going back. I also installed the Blaupunkt Toronto head unit and replaced the door and dash speakers with Hertz. Now it sounds like it should, top up or down!

Pros: Clean sound, flexibility of connections and crossover points, good power, looks good in the trunk.

Cons: None noted.

I believe that the base enhancement circuits are separate for each set of channels due to potential differences in the speakers-- in other words, you may have smaller front speakers, different balance/fade settings etc., so in order to boost uniformly between the speakers they utilize separate speakers. In other words, they want to make sure that you get 6 db in each set of speakers regardless of differences in speaker size etc. You may want to boost one set of speakers more than another, but they made a different design decision. [ Jeffrey  Mar 06, 2016 ]
There is two different bass boost switches one for front channels and one for the rear.. This is basically two amps in one . A front channel amp and a rear channel amp. I have the two rear channels bridged and hooked to a 4 ohm sub and the front two channels hooked to two 6s in the my rear doors. I have both the bass boost settings in the middle setting I think.. That's really not the most important settings with this amp actually. Dialing in your front and rear channels for low or high pass is what is really gonna make your sub hit and get your sounds clear. Bass boost settings also depend on the receiver your running.. Bottom line this amp for he money does everything I want it to do and more.. [ Donald  Mar 04, 2016 ]
There are two switches, one for each "bank", Front and Rear. If you look at the input side of the amp you can see them as the outermost switches (the controls are laid out symmetrically). [ Jeremy  Mar 04, 2016 ]

The high level inputs on my unit measure at 200 Ohms DC. The RCA inputs measure at 17kOhm. There may be some filtering (e.g. DC blocking), so the real impedance may be lower. At the lowest, I'd expect the RCA to be ~10k Ohm, and the High level inputs to be ~20 Ohm for frequencies in the audio band. There is some isolation between the RCAs and ground, which is good (I haven't had any issues with noise on this amp). [ Jeremy  Mar 05, 2016 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You can run that amp in a 3 channel mode. The front speakers would get 55 watts RMS power each. The back 2 channels could be bridged together and provide 165 watts RMS power for a subwoofer. It is also important to note that the when bridged the subwoofer channel would only be stable at a 4 ohm resistance. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Nov 11, 2014 ]  Staff
