Features
Overview: The Blaupunkt GTA 1500D is a mono, Class D amplifier designed to power subwoofers in your vehicle. The amplifier outputs 250 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load, or 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. The amp comes with a remote level control, spare fuses, and mounting screws.
Gain Control: The amp has a single gain control for matching the preamp output voltage of the connected head unit. The rotary control is continuously variable from 200mV to 5V.
Remote Level Control: You can remotely vary the output of the amplifier using the included remote level control. When the remote level control cable is plugged in, the on-board gain control is disabled. The remote comes with an attached 16' cable with a right-angled 3.5mm plug, and mounting hardware.
Low Pass Crossover: The GTA 1500D has a low pass crossover with a continuously variable rotary control. The crossover sets the upper frequency limit of the amplifier output. You can select a crossover frequency between 40Hz and 200Hz. (The slope of the crossover is not given.)
Subsonic Filter: The built-in Subsonic Filter is a variable high pass crossover that filters out extremely low frequencies that typically cause distortion and waste amplifier power. The Subsonic Filter control sets the lower frequency limit of the amp's output, and is continuously variable between 10Hz and 80Hz.
Phase Control: The GTA 1500D is equipped with a variable Phase control that helps fine tune the subwoofer with the other loudspeakers. Out-of-phase speakers create mutually canceling frequencies that hurt the sound system's bass response. The variable Phase control lets you adjust the "attack" of the subwoofer between 0° and 180° until the bass sounds the best.
X-over Switch: The amp features an On/Off switch for the built-in crossovers (low-pass and subsonic), the Remote connection, and the phase control. When the switch is set in the Off position, you can connect a Blaupunkt amplifier with an integrated DSP, such as the GTA 270DSP or GTA 470DSP) to use its setting options.
Connections: The Blaupunkt GTA 1500D features set screw terminals for all bare wire connections. The set screws are tightened/loosened with the supplied 4mm and 2mm Allen wrenches. The amp terminals are as follows:
- Power/Ground: The power and ground connections use set screw terminals. The terminal openings are 0.316" in diameter, and 8-gauge power/ground wire is recommended. A 50A fuse should be placed on the power wire no more than 18" from the battery.
- Fuses: The amplifier has two 25A ATO (blade-type) fuses installed. Two spare 25A fuses are included with the amp.
- Remote Turn-on: The set screw terminals for the remote turn-on lead is 0.15" in diameter. You can use 18-gauge or 16-gauge wire for the turn-on lead.
- Speaker Terminals: Two pairs of set screw terminals are
provided, allowing you to connect two subwoofers to the amplifier. The
terminals are internally wired in parallel, allowing you to connect two
4-ohm subs. The set screw terminals for the speakers are 0.15" in diameter,
allowing you to use up to 16-gauge speaker wire.
- Note: The positive speaker terminals are grouped together and the negative terminals are grouped together on the amplifier. Care should be taken in properly connecting the speakers.
- Line Level Input: One pair of stereo RCA jacks is provided for the input signal. These RCA jacks are mounted on the "control" side of the amplifier.
