The GTA 4 will power a couple of sets of full-range speakers or component systems with ease — or use it in 2-channel mode to drive a couple of subs. The slim, compact design will fit places where other amps may not. The high- and low-pass filters let you contour the sound to match your needs, while the bass boost will kick up the lows when the craving for bass strikes you.

Features

Status LEDs: Two LEDs on the left side of the amplifier provide the status of the amplifier. The green power LED indicates the amplifier is on and functioning normally. The red protect LED lights to indicate the amplifier has entered the protection mode because of a malfunction.

Channel Configuration: The GTA 4 can be wired as a 4-channel amp for driving two pair of full-range speakers, a 3-channel amp (bridging one set of channels) for driving one pair of full-range speakers and one subwoofer, or as a 2-channel amp (bridging both sets of channels) for driving two subwoofers.

Bass Boost: The amp is equipped with a bass boost centered at 45Hz. The front and rear amps have separate switches for 0, 6, or 12 dB boost.

Crossover: The GTA 4 has 12dB per octave for the front and rear channels. You can independently select high-pass, low-pass operation, or flat (for full-range operation) for the front and rear channels. The high-pass crossover is fixed at 80 Hz, the low-pass is adjustable from 50-250 Hz.

Inputs, Outputs, and Controls

Left Side of Amp:

Preamp Inputs: 2 pair of nickel-plated RCA jacks, front and rear channels
Input Level: rotary control to match the level of the head unit's preamp output signal, 100mV to 8V, separate controls for front and rear channels
Crossover: 3 position switch to select the crossover type; Flat (no filter), Low-pass, or High-pass, separate controls for front and rear channels
Low-pass Frequency: rotary control to set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass crossover, 50-250 Hz, high-pass is fixed at 80 Hz, separate controls for front and rear channels
Bass Boost: 3 position switch to set the level of the 45 Hz bass boost; 0, 6, or 12 dB, separate controls for front and rear channels

Right Side of Amp:

Speaker Output: 8 set screw terminals for connecting speaker wires, 0.33 wide
Fuses: Slots for two 25 amp fuses (installed)
Power:
- +12V: set screw terminal for power wire from battery, 0.48" wide
- Remote: set screw terminal for remote turn-on lead, 0.33" wide
- Ground: set screw terminal for ground, 0.48" wide

Very good amp

Bought this amp in Jan 07. I have it pushing a pair of component speakers in the front doors and the rear channels bridged on a Kicker 10". It sounds very, very good. When I installed it at first, I did not ground it good enough. This caused an alternator whine and a hiss. I grounded it to where the seat is bolted to the frame, usually a good place to ground an amp, but I did not sand the contact areas down to bare metal. Once I did this (cleaned off the paint) the amp really came to lif. It really sounds good.

Got two of these, one running four sat's up
front, and the other running two 10" sub's.

Good grounding is a must !!!
Only way to avoid any noise, or alternator whine.
Proper use of level controls and crossovers important.

These amp's put out solid power, and sound
very clean at high volume. They hold their own
against amp's costing more.

Pro's
Good power rating, clean sound.
4/3/2 speaker operation, and 2 ohm capability.

Con's
They are big, not easy to place two unless
in the trunk.
Must be grounded well.

Great budget minded amplifier!

Here's my current setup: Pioneer 880prs feeding signal to an Audio control matrix line driver This is going to an active setup utilzing this amp (which is being used as a replacement for use until my Arc Audio 4150xxk returns) and an Arc Audio 2500xxk running a Rockford Fosgate 12"HX2. The Blaupunkt is running a pair of Dayton RS180-4 midbass drivers, and Rainbow CAL25 tweeters.

The Matrix peaks at 13volts out to the amps and the Blaupunkt handles it just fine. It puts out a very clean signal with little to no coloration it gets loud and does not distort audibly. I have not had any issues with noise as I've seen mentioned before. The amp is mounted underneath my passenger seat and I have not heard any noises from it. I have not utilized any of the functions of the amp like the bass boost or the lpf and hpf so I cannot comment on the accuracy of those settings however based on the rest of the amlifiers build, I would assume they perform as they should. All of the settings are clearly marked and easily adjusted. I am very pleased with the amp, it absolutely cannot be beat for the price. It has done me well and at this point I don't know if I will even re-install the Arc Audio 4150xxk when it comes back from warranty service!

I snatched one of these amps up from Crutchfield's Outlet back in December. I then picked up another. The idea was to use them to temporarily drive my system while I can save up enough to buy what I want. So... one of these is driving 4 Polk db650 in the stock speaker locations. The other is pushing 170 watts to a 10W3 (will soon push 340 watts to an SW7200). I did most of the install work - power line, speaker level inputs to a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 and actual speaker install. Anyway, as soon as I first turned the car's switch to accesory, I got TERRIBLE HISS. In order to overcome this, I have to play the system at very high volume. I methodically traced every source of noise (power line, speaker level inputs, RCA interconnect from my mp3 to the Aux In on the 3Sixty, etc...). Nothing explained the HISS. So I did two things. First, I hooked up my mp3 directly to the amp. Still had HISS. Second, I connected the amp to an external battery with the power line completely isolated from any other line. Still had HISS. This means: the Blaupunkt GTA4 has a huge amount of inherent HISS. Do not buy this amplifier without being aware of this.

The amp is just massive. It is really long and would not fit under the seat in my Tacoma. I should have paid closer attention to the dimensions. Although they were right at the clearance I had, the binding posts and such would have been too cramped.

This may be me perfect for mounting to the back wall of a truck or in a trunk (maybe), but for me, it was just too big.

It is a shame; I really wanted to use this amp. Such a good deal!
