More science than magic

Nothing up the sleeve here! Blaupunkt's Blue Magic QL 690 6"x9" speakers offer high-end construction and materials at an affordable price. Each speaker features a rigid injected polypropylene (IPP) woofer that works with its rubber surround to produce accurate lows. Combine that with its Mylar midrange, a sensitive PEI dome tweeter, and a piezo super tweeter for your highs, and you'll get faithful reproduction of all your music.

Ample power handling, tough design, and a low profile make these Blaupunkts a great choice for replacing your stock speakers. Their included grilles also enable you to use them in a custom installation. You can power these efficient speakers with a factory radio, an aftermarket car stereo, or an amplifier.

Product Highlights:

  • 6"x9" 4-way car speakers (pair)
  • injected polypropylene woofer with rubber surround
  • 1-7/8" Mylar midrange cone
  • 1" PEI dome tweeter and 1/2" piezo super tweeter
  • black steel basket
  • power range: 2-67 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 30-25,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 92 dB
  • 3-ohm impedance works with a factory radio, an aftermarket car stereo, or an amplifier
  • top-mount depth: 2-3/4"
  • metal grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this speaker in the front door location in a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. It was time to replace the 11 year old stock speakers.

These speakers provide a wider sound field than I was expecting and I am satisfied with the purchase and the installation experience. I am hearing guitar picks on strings and the cymbals are present in a way that they weren't with stock. Just a much fuller sound with these speakers. There is bass but it is not the rattle-your-bones bass that some of you may want. I'm happy with these.

Crutchfield installation details indicates that you will need to use the factory speaker bracket. When removing your factory speakers, this bracket is light gray in color and seems to be adhered with a foam-like adhesive that readily releases from the factory speaker with the slightest intervention of a flat-head screwdriver and light prying pressure. You will pretty quickly notice that the new speaker holes don't line up real well with the factory bracket but the bracket is plastic and these holes are easily (seriously) enlarged by stepping up drill bit sizes. Slightly enlarging these holes permitted me to use the factory screws and the factory screw holes making the installation pretty much painless. If you're doing your own speaker install then this little alteration is very easy.

Pros: Simple install. A much better listening experience over stock (no surprise there). And the price for the value I feel is fantastic.

Cons: None come to mind. The only thing I had to do was make the bracket holes small bit bigger and that was truly easy with basic hand tools.

Blaupunkt 6x9 speakers fit 2009-2015 RAM 1500 with minor trim. Pure clarity over OEM small magnet speakers.

Pros: Fitment, 3ohm impedance, magnet size and speaker connectors included with speakers to avoid wire splices.

Cons: 2 of 4 speaker base holes have to be trimmed to align with RAM screw receptacle

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front doors of my 2014 Ram quad cab. As others have written the mounting holes need to be elongated in order to get all 4 screws installed. The Crutchfield supplied harnesses worked perfectly. The sound was better than expected with the factory radio.

Pros: Fits the front door without the window hitting. Great sound

Cons: had to modify the mounting holes

Major upgrade over stock speakers sound quality.Figured I had to do something because the factory speakers were so muddy and muffled.Bought 2 pair, delivered on the expected due date, and following the installation instructions had them up and running within 2 hours.Excellent replacement, wouldn't hesitate doing it again if I had to.

Pros: Cleaner highs and mid-range,easy installation, superior build quality

Cons: None to report so far.

They Don't Fit, even though Crutchfield says it does

Written by: Jason S. from New York on June 17, 2015

I just installed these into my 2014 Ram 1500 Express with Quad Cab and it doesn't line up with original screw holes. Only 2 holes line up, I could cram a 3rd on an angle. I only purchased them because they where the only pair that "fit" my vehicle. They sound incredible with the stock stereo.

Pros: Sound is awesome! Bonus the blue matches the color of my truck!

Cons: Doesn't fit, even though Crutchfield says it fits.

I had to file the holes a bit with a round file to fit the screw holes in my 1997 Ram 2500. But they sound way better than the OEM Audiolatina speakers!

Pros: good sound

Cons: hole fitment, loose connectors (had to crimp after fell off after driving)

as a consumer, this much for a pair of car speakers it's well worth the money. very surprised by the low tones and and the base it produces.

Pros: great sound great speaker cover, well packed for shipping.

Cons: hardware that comes with the units is very soft could upgrade to a higher class of steel. Such as my install application should come with speaker cloth grill that comes with It. Was unable to use speaker grill that came with it.

Blaupunkt 6×9's

Written by: Anonymous from Gibsonburg, Ohio on November 4, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound great, have a decent punch from the stock receiver. I usually go with Kicker, but these were the only ones from Crutchfield that fit a 2014 Ram. The only minor issue was the screw pattern doesn't exactly match the mounts in the doors. This is a Chrysler thing, nothing to do with the speakers. Unless you carefully drill out the holes in the speaker frame, you can only put in 3 screws.

Pros: Great sound, vast improvement over stock.

Cons: Had to drill out screw holes to fit my particular application.

2004 Dodge Stratus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In general a nice speaker, I think the 4-way really helps voice and guitar come through. Looks like they are built well.

Pros: Clear midrange and undistorted bass.

Cons: Didn't match hole pattern in a 2004 Dodge Stratus, could only get in 3 of the 4 screws. Would have liked a wiring adapter, I hate cutting wires. I wish the highs (tweeter) came through better.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

These speakers have worked without difficulty for almost a year now with a Sony head unit on the rear channels which as far as I remember had 4 ohm nominal outputs. [ Douglas  May 22, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: A head-unit supports 4 ohm impedance. These speakers are 3 ohm as Blaupunkt also considers the speaker wire's impedance which is enough resistance to allow the head-unit to only have an approximate 4-ohm resistance when using these speakers. It will not damage the head-unit as these are engineered to work in conjunction. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
