You'll love the subdued blue color of Blaupunkt's ProComponent speakers, but there's nothing mellow about the energy these speakers will inject into your car's audio system. Blaupunkt builds ProComponent speakers for high efficiency, so they'll provide punchy sound — even if you're hooking them up to a factory radio.

The PCxb542 5-1/4" speakers feature lightweight, rigid woofers that supply solid bass and midrange production. Mylar semi-dome tweeters springboard the highs into action. If your car's original 5-1/4" speakers have seen better days, you'll hear a big improvement with these Blaupunkt speakers in their place.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers and quality of sound is so much better than the stock, but installation was pretty hard. I installed them in my 95 Toyota Camry, it took me over 6 hours to install and broke a door handle in the process, so be wary of replacement in a Camry. Directions provided were good, but you needed to figure out a couple of things that were not intuitive.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these lil' gems in the rough after I purchased my Dual CD player here. I actually had to buy them becasue my new Dual CD player ate my factory speakers for lunch. I installed these today in my Ford Ranger and I am amazed at the sound quality coming from these lil' guys. They fit great as well, even with the adaptor kit. Thank you again Crutchfield!

Great Deal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in my centra-pod which is mounted on the trans hump in my 91 Jeep Wrangler, and there's noting bad I can say about them they sound awesome. Dont drop tons of money on other component speakers (unless your running external amps to them) and go for a set of these bad boys you wont be dissapointed.

Great for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were a snap to install in my truck doors, practically plug and play. They are a huge improvement over the stock units. These have great highs and decent mids but you will definitely want to add a sub and maybe some 6x9's to handle heavy mids and lows. If you are looking for something affordable to replace your stock units or to add some nice clear highs you would be hard pressed to find something this good for this price.

Perfect for back of 2002 Hyundai Accent

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had ordered these to use in the front of the car but ended up using it in the back as the 5 1/2 ones (PCxb652) did not fit very well.

As my luck would have it I am having to wait for a new set to use in the front (they are on backorder) so once I ge them and actually get to use them I'll post how it worked for the front. See below for back install experience.

The sound is way better than what it was with the stock speakers.

As for install, it was easy once I removed all the parts in the back. Must remove all the back section where the top break light is. While it was not too hard to do I am hesitant to put it back (maybe i'll take it to dealer :)" . Taking out is definitelly much easier than putting back in the car. This is the case not with the speakers but with the car itself.

Excellent speaker for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the factory door speakers in my '95 Chevy Silverado with these items & have been living with them now for several months.I also replaced the factory stereo cassette player with a Kenwood head unit (22 watts rms)that powers the Blaupunkts nicely. The install was a breeze with Crutchfield's detailed instructions, the adapter plates & wiring harness. Along with the factory indoor tweeters the highs are bright but not overpowering, & the lows improved quite a bit over the factory paper cones. I plan to add a subwoofer to the system soon to augment the bass, but these speakers are a great addition to make my ride more enjoyable! The five stars are for Crutchfield's service & instructions as well as the speakers.

Great Value

Written By Erik, North Carolina on Wednesday, July 19, 2006

These speakers are a great value at $40 a pair. I have them running directly off of my Blaupunkt Monterrey head unit. They give good bass punch and crisp highs without an amp or channel filter.

My one and BIG complaint is that the installation hardware included is GARBAGE. The brackets (actually called "speed nuts" so you know what to look for at your local hardware store) are worthless. It also didn't come with any washers which are necessary since the #8 screws can be pulled through the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.

Other than that they're good. Just be prepared for a trip to the hardware store.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed these in my 1999 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab. I had a fried factory speaker in the front passenger door that needed replaced. I chose these 5.25 Blaupunkts for two reasons: low price and Crutchfield included free speaker mounting brackets so I wouldn't have to drill into my door. First off: there is absolutely nothing that Crutchfield can do to improve on the ease of installation with any product you buy from them. They are absolutely the best! The speaker bracket and wiring harness fit the factory applications perfectly, and the included vehicle specific instructions were much clearer and easier to follow than those you might find on-line or in one of those repair manuals from the auto parts store.

Now the speakers: the bass response is no better than factory (remember these are smaller speakers) but it is no worse, either. My factory system already had component tweeters, so I don't notice a great increase in the upper range. One word of caution: don't test them out with the door panels off, you will hear no bass whatsoever and may get a little discouraged. It'll sound much better when it's all put back together. These speakers are exactly what I wanted and for less than I expected to pay.

These are great little speakers for the price. I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for factory speakers and decided on these. I was surprised how good the bass sounds from a 5.25" speaker and the tweeter sounds great, but a little shrill at times. Overall these speakers are a steal for $40, get a pair (or two).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are unbelievable. The quality is amazing for only $40. I placed them in the front doors of my 1983 Camaro and they are paired with a couple 3-way Dual 6x9's. The overall sound is great, even though I'm running the four speakers off my Kenwood stereo amp. I will be buying a Dual sub (XS10 or something like that) very soon along with an amp for it. The speakers started to distort when I turned the volume up very very high, so I turned on my stereo's built-in high pass filter and it helped a lot. Definetely recommend to anyone. One of the best deals out there.

Good Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these speakers in the doors of my Pontiac Grand Prix. They sound remarkably good. They add a depth to the music that I was not expecting. The mids and highs are crisp and clear, the lows are soft but audible. A good balance if you have a sub. I have them going through an amp at 65 watts RMS, so I couldn't tell you how they sound coming straight from the radio, but they sound great through an amp. Even my wife, who thinks a stock system is all a person needs, and that putting after market equipment in the car is stupid and a waste of money (God bless her), says they were worth it.

Bang-for-Buck, unbeatable

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These dropped right into the rear of my 2001 Cherokee: Installation took about 5 minutes with a butter knife to remove the factory faceplates (which popped right back in when I was done) and a TORX driver to remove the old speakers (and screw down the new ones).

Are they actually 5-star speakers? No, not really. They certainly do sound great at reasonable volumes. But the cheap foam surrounds limit cone excursion, thus limiting bass "punch", and they won't last as long as butyl rubber surrounds. But FOR THE PRICE - oh yeah, these little Blaupunkts are fabulous - and a thousand times better than the tinny paper factory speakers in my Cherokee.

Excellent sound, better bass than I expected. I've added a complete Blaupunkt system to my 97' Bonneville. It may be the best investment i've made for my car since i bought it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was disapointed when Crutchfield said the only options for the front doors of by Bose Equiped 99 Bonneville SSEi was Blaupunkt, JVC or Kenwood. I decided to go with the Blau's after reading the reviews, and I was not disapointed. For $40 this is one heck of a speaker. The detail is crystal clear, highs are clean and not harsh, voices are warm and clean.

I replaced the stock Bose speakers after years of harshness and lack of detail or range. I wish I did it sooner. One tip to anyone installing these in a 96-99 Bonneville, remove the old plastic seal on the Bose speakers and install it on the new speakers, This will give you a complete seal on the face of the speaker to the door panel. This is important as this is a 'bottom mount' application and will keep waves from the back of the speaker canceling out your bass.

One cool detail on the Blau's is the blue metallic speaker basket that matches the cone, just kinda looks cool.

Oh yeah! Defintiely better quality than what I paid for

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

BOTTOM LINE: Fine pair of speakers for $40!

UPSIDE: Excellent improvement over stock sound bar speaks in my 97 jeep wrangler. As usual, Crutchfields free connectors and directions were right on. Installation took about 10 minutes and no directions were needed. Great sound; speakers handle strong bass and volume well, as loud as I can manage, anyway. If you're looking to improve a stock speaker, you can't go wrong here.

DOWNSIDE: None so far...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these because Blaupunkts were the factory speakers in my 86 Carrera, which I like to keep original. I matched these with 4x6s in the rear. Overall, they sound great (I've had speakers that cost 3x these that are no better). They have more bass than I expected from the specs, and the highs are good. These are good if your head unit puts out less than 25w per channel because they are relatively efficient. They were about 3mm too big for the factory openings, but I tightened them up flush with the factory grills, no big deal. Overall, I would recommend these. Crutchfield is easy to work with too.

Not bad for a $36(at the time) speaker set. It won't blow your ears off and will crackle at high volumes but overall sounds good

Injected Polymer Cones: The injected polymer cones are lightweight and mechanically rigid, allowing the speakers to play louder with less power. Acoustically inert, the cones do not "color" the sound of the music, giving you accurate musical reproduction. Each woofer uses a foam surround.

1" Mylar Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1" Mylar semi-dome tweeter for clean, accurate highs.
