To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk. Blaupunkt's compact THb 200A amplified subwoofer mounts just about anywhere, so you can add great-sounding bass to your vehicle without giving up precious trunk space. The slim, die-cast aluminum cabinet contains a 70-watt RMS amplifier and an 8" subwoofer for clean, low-frequency reproduction that enhances any style of music. You don't have to worry about turning the sub on and off just feed it some music and it'll respond, and it shuts off one minute after the tunes stop. Jeeps aren't exactly known for having a lot of extra space, so when the factory sub went out in my 2002 Wrangler I wanted to replace it with something that would offer decent bass but not take up the whole back seat. I decided on the THb 200A and installed it under the driver's seat. The sound is excellent and really fills out my music. It's not going to rattle the windows but it is powerful enough to let you know it's there. I have no complaints at all. 6 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I needed some better bass response in my Tundra Access Cab, and the THb200 does that beautifully. I listen to jazz, rock, classical, big beat and the Blaupunkt handles it all. As you've read already, its not a pair of 12" pounders, but for a contained unit that easily installed under the passenger seat (and is a total sleeper), it sounds great. It took some time to adjust the high and low pass filters in my HU to get the Sub Woof handling the appropriate lows, and my full range door speakers handling the rest, but the effort was well worth the rich balanced sound. I thought that the lack of a remote would be a problem, but it turns out that once you match the SW settings to your HU, you can pretty much control everything you need from the HU. I turned the volume up to as high a level as I generally listen to and then got out and stood next to the vehicle and was surprised that I could hardly hear the bass. For me, that's perfect. 4 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? After alot of research, I narrowed it down to the Blaupunkt unit because it would fit under the passenger seat of my 1996 suburban I just got. How can a vehical come with 8 factory speakers and no base? Don't know but they managed it. I was really hopeing this small unit was going to give the huge interior enough bass, and I was not dissapointed. The install took me 2 1/2 hours, and when I turned it on I was amazed. This unit delivers the low sounds that was needed and the right amount of thump when required. I was able to pull my (heavy!) spare tire and mount this unit in the vacant cavity in the rear of the car. I recently had this unit installed in my 2007 Pathfinder under the drivers seat. This is not a unit for the kids who want to impress their friends with loud bone shaking bass, but if you want clear, tight bass that fills in where your door speakers leave off then this is the one. Unit is easy to install, package comes with everything except in line fuse and RCAs. I looked around and found some for a few bucks off, but I remembered that crutchfield will stand behind their products with no hassle with great service and advice. Product only superceeded by Crutchfield service. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Quality product Written By Eric, Minneapolis, MN on Monday, October 20, 2008 I was cautious at first when I considered this sub, as it was on the smaller end of what I was looking at, but I was very surprised when I plugged it in and listened to it for the first time. The enclosure is made entirely of metal, so it won't rattle or shake as a plastic enclosure would. Also, I have it stashed in a vented compartment in the back of a wagon type vehicle, and despite its size, it fills the entire vehicle. This isn't the sub for you if you want to rattle your trunk, but it will give you all the bass you need, and more. Also, when I say that it won't "rattle your trunk", that's all I mean - you can defiantly hear the sub from outside, but you might be disappointed if your goal is to impress people _outside_ the car. I had also read about problems with the auto-off feature, but I have not had any issues with this. When you turn the car off, it takes about 30 seconds for the sub to go, then it's out. 7 out of 7 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? 5 out of 5 Amazing value Written By Andrew, Lansing, MI on Monday, July 21, 2008 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Its amazing Blaupunkt can offer a great package like this for this price. Try calling another seller for help troubleshooting. Buy from Crutchfield they are a top notch retailer. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No
5 out of 5 incredible Written By dave, phoenix, az on Friday, July 04, 2008 is it as good as two 12's in your trunk? no, but thats an unreasonable expectation. i have a regular cab, small tacoma and there is NO room for any components. i bought this because its the smallest thing out there, just hoping it would fill in the lows for me and it does that and more. i am impressed at how low this 8 will respond and how hard will hit. if youre only willing or able to give up as much space as a shoebox only half as tall then you couldnt ask for better performance. i've been building systems as a hobby for over 15 years and for the price, size and sound, it doesnt get much better. 9 out of 10 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? 5 out of 5 Quality product Written By Eric, Minneapolis, MN on Monday, October 20, 2008 I was cautious at first when I considered this sub, as it was on the smaller end of what I was looking at, but I was very surprised when I plugged it in and listened to it for the first time. Yes | No
