Improve call clarity

Blaupunkt's Toronto 420 CD receiver features a built-in microphone for Bluetooth calling, but conversation can be difficult in some cars. If you drive a convertible or any vehicle with a noisy interior, adding this external microphone will ensure that your contacts hear you loud and clear. Just plug the cable into the jack on the rear of the Toronto, then place the mic in a good location. The 7.75' cord is long enough to make routing easy. Warranty: 1 year.

Features

External Microphone: This external microphone (BPTRN420MIC) is designed to work with compatible Blaupunkt head units or other Bluetooth-enabled head units that feature a 2.5mm mic input. The external microphone enables you to mount the mic closer to the driver and provides improved voice pick up, when compared to the integrated mic on the front-panel of a head unit. The BPTRN420MIC features an attached 9.75' cable that is terminated by a male 2.5mm connector which plugs into the 2.5mm mic input on the back of your compatible head unit.

Note: No mounting bracket or hardware is included with the external mic. Use a small piece of two-sided 3M tape (not included) to secure the mic to the driver pillar or your dash.

Fantastic Microphone!

Written By Kim B., Atlanta, GA on Thursday, September 04, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have the Blaupunkt 420BT radio, which has a built-in microphone. I drive a Honda Civic, so I was hoping the built-in microphone would be good enough, since my car doesn't have tons of road noise. However, 80% of the time, I had to switch my calls back over to the handset audio, since the people I was talking to couldn't hear me. I also wasn't able to use any kind of voice-recognition functionality before.

So I bought this external microphone, and it's solved all those problems! I'm able to use my phone completely hands-free in the car. Additionally, because the cord on the microphone is so long, I was able to route the cord up through some body trim, so it's pretty much completely hidden. I would highly recommend this microphone to anyone with the Blaupunkt 420BT stereo!

Pros: - Long cord, which is easy to hide - High quality microphone

Cons: - None

Great external mic

This the best 10 bucks I have ever spent! My wife has a 50 minute commute and also travels for work. Now that she has this bluetooth she is talking handsfree and so much safer! Thank you. The voice quality is great!

picked up too much road noise, and people on the other end couldn't here a thing I was saying

A must

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install. The wire was sufficiently long to reach all the way to the a pillar in a relatively large vehicle. Not sensitive enough to pick up every ambient noise which is a good thing.

Pros: Worthy addition to Toronto 420. The built in mic is ineffective.

Cons: None.

Untested

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am pleased with the entire upgrade that I have done with the help of Crutchfield. I have not yet had opportunity to test this product, as the built in microphone in the radio has thus far been adequate. I bought this anticipating that I will remove the radio and attach this in the back of the unit(along with a rear USB based wire to charge the phone). The slots are there, so I decided to try to use them.

Pros: Moves the microphone closer to the driver, makes the voice clearer to the person at the other end.

Cons: None yet, but I expect that it will over-ride the built in microphone. It may turn out to be overkill.

First off, great and fast service. I got the microphone for my head unit and it works like a charm!! Phone calls sound as good as if your holding the phone! Pretty satisfied.

Pros: Easy to install!

This is not made to plug into an audio input jack on the front of many stereos. It is specifically for a stereo with cell phone connect ability. It plugs into the back of the unit if equipped to do so. [ CHRIS  Sep 26, 2014 ]
no, this is specific for the blaupunkt unit, i bought one for my vintage unit which is a 3.5mm and it didnt fit. [ DIGESTIVE DISEA  Sep 26, 2014 ]
