Blaupunkt BPTRN420MIC

Overview

Our take on the Blaupunkt BPTRN420MIC

Improve call clarity

Blaupunkt's Toronto 420 CD receiver features a built-in microphone for Bluetooth calling, but conversation can be difficult in some cars. If you drive a convertible or any vehicle with a noisy interior, adding this external microphone will ensure that your contacts hear you loud and clear. Just plug the cable into the jack on the rear of the Toronto, then place the mic in a good location. The 7.75' cord is long enough to make routing easy. Warranty: 1 year.

Not the best mic, certainly not the worst. A huge step up from the integrated mic on the front of the Head unit. Very good price.

A must-have

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a must-have for the Blaupunkt in-dash radios that have a built-in microphone. I tried that for about a day and it was totally worthless. I'd already purchased this external mic in advance, anticipating this problem and I'm glad I did. It made a world of difference. Now my callers tell me they can hear me just fine.

Pros: None.

Cons: None.

Great add-on!

Increases the quality of hands free talking. Users on the other end of my calls have no issues hearing me over my cars loud exhaust.

Pros: Great and cheap addon

Cons: Wasn't included with my Blaupunkt Brisbane 230 originally.

Discreet mic, but not very loud

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The microphone is nice and discreet, unlike some of the larger microphones sold with other brands, so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. However, with the small size, I think it sacrifices quality. It does not seem to be a noise-cancelling microphone, and listeners on the other end of phone calls say that I sound very far away, and have trouble hearing me, even though I have it mounted high on the A-pillar, fairly close to my face.

Pros: Small, discreet, easy to mount, with plenty of wire length.

Cons: Poor audio quality

Fantastic Microphone!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have the Blaupunkt 420BT radio, which has a built-in microphone. I drive a Honda Civic, so I was hoping the built-in microphone would be good enough, since my car doesn't have tons of road noise. However, 80% of the time, I had to switch my calls back over to the handset audio, since the people I was talking to couldn't hear me. I also wasn't able to use any kind of voice-recognition functionality before. So I bought this external microphone, and it's solved all those problems! I'm able to use my phone completely hands-free in the car. Additionally, because the cord on the microphone is so long, I was able to route the cord up through some body trim, so it's pretty much completely hidden. I would highly recommend this microphone to anyone with the Blaupunkt 420BT stereo!

Pros: - Long cord, which is easy to hide - High quality microphone

Cons: - None

A must

Easy to install. The wire was sufficiently long to reach all the way to the a pillar in a relatively large vehicle. Not sensitive enough to pick up every ambient noise which is a good thing.

Pros: Worthy addition to Toronto 420. The built in mic is ineffective.

Cons: None.

Untested

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am pleased with the entire upgrade that I have done with the help of Crutchfield. I have not yet had opportunity to test this product, as the built in microphone in the radio has thus far been adequate. I bought this anticipating that I will remove the radio and attach this in the back of the unit(along with a rear USB based wire to charge the phone). The slots are there, so I decided to try to use them.

Pros: Moves the microphone closer to the driver, makes the voice clearer to the person at the other end.

Cons: None yet, but I expect that it will over-ride the built in microphone. It may turn out to be overkill.

Note: No mounting bracket or hardware is included with the external mic. Use a small piece of two-sided 3M tape (not included) to secure the mic to the driver pillar or your dash.

This is not made to plug into an audio input jack on the front of many stereos. It is specifically for a stereo with cell phone connect ability. It plugs into the back of the unit if equipped to do so. [ CHRIS  Sep 26, 2014 ]
no, this is specific for the blaupunkt unit, i bought one for my vintage unit which is a 3.5mm and it didnt fit. [ DIGESTIVE DISEA  Sep 26, 2014 ]
