Stock dash speakers HAD to go. New headunit putting out 45 watts, my stock would distort at like 1/10 max power. I slapped these in (more like painstakingly installed because I had to dremel my dash because the power connectors are bulky and wouldn't for down the hole). Highs don't distort at all at high volumes but it can't handle bass notes worth anything, deffinately need 600/800 bass blockers. If you're going to order these, order the bass blockers at the same time so you save yourself from having to take the speakers out again to put on the bass blockers, they deffinately need them. Also they're a little weak at 45 watts (they're dash speakers what do you expect). My component speakers in the back running at 80 watts overpower this with ease and I can't hear them at higher volumes. Still very good speakers, absolutely love them and the price rocks!

not too shabby

I got these for an 88 Cutlass Ciera, hands down better than the stock speakers. Of course, its not all too hard to beat dry-rotted, low quality speakers in the first place. Yes, dry-rotted. The sound is excellent, especially for the price. I got the Aiwa CD receiver deal and got em half of, so I'd watch out for Crutchfield deals, theyre good. Anyways, my only complaint was installation was a little tricky. Besides my dashboard thats falling apart, which inst a fault of the product, installation was a bit difficult seeing as I'm a beginner with all this. After we got the right wrench to get my stock speakers removed, we found that the wiring harness wouldnt work, so we had to cut and strip some wires. bah, but it was well worth it.

And by the way, if you want to save money and avoid messing with wires, just put your receiver on a setting that doesnt send bass to the speaks. Works for me, saved me some bucks.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although these may be the cheapest 3.5" speakers Crutchfield has to offer, by no means are they cheap sounding. First off, you want to get a pair of 600hz bass blockers, little speakers like this aren't ment for bass, leave that to your 6"x9" and subwoofers. The build quality of these speakers are excellent. The magnet is surrounded by this thick plastic coating to protect it from damage. Warning: with the magnet size, speakers may not fit in all locations.

These barely fit in the dash of my 1986 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. They sound fantastic with the bass blockers. They punch out every mid and high note you could possibly want. I'm an audiophile for life, I rarely praise anything to such an extent. That just shows how good these speakers really are. They sound 10x better than my friends 6.5" Sony Xplodes 4-ways.

Remember people, the speakers in the dash are closest to your ears!

If you're on a budget and don't want to cough up the dough for the Infiniti's, these are the way to go. I only recommend them if you are going to get a pair of 600hz bass blockers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the stock speakers in my Cutlass Ciera. They sound pretty good and aren't expensive. I only have my stock speakers to compare them to so I can't say much. Huge improvement on the stock speakers though.

i have a pair of these in the dash of my 1981 caddilac coupe deville, and these speakers have some exelent highs and mids they bring out all the detail of your music some of the best sounding speakers out there of there size, you will need a set of bass blockers though otherwise they sound terrible cuz they where never ment to play lower notes leave that to the subs. best speakers you'll find for the price i would highly recomend these speakers for anyone no mater the type of music you listen to

Product Research

Transparent Polymer Cones (TPC): The injected transparent polymer cones are lightweight and mechanically rigid, allowing the speakers to play louder with less power. Acoustically inert, the cones do not "color" the sound of the music, giving you accurate musical reproduction. Each woofer uses a foam surround.

1" Mylar Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1" Mylar semi-dome tweeter for clean, accurate highs.

Transparent Polycarbonate Baskets: The transparent polycarbonate baskets are acoustically inert, so that sonic output is free of unwanted resonances. Since the magnets are encapsulated by the polycarbonate baskets, the speakers are inherently water-resistant, allowing you to use them in outdoor and marine applications.
