So your music sounds a little thin and you want some low-end oomph, but you don't want to install a bunch of gear in your vehicle to make it happen. Enter Blaupunkt's Blue Magic XLb 250 A.
This compact powered subwoofer uses a beefy 250-watt amplifier and a 10" sub to give you the low-frequency punch you need to round out your music. You can use the variable crossover control and phase switch to tune the bass for your vehicle, and you can crank the bass boost dial if you want even more low-end throttle.
Once you've adjusted the settings, you can turn up the bass output right from the driver's seat using the wired remote control that Blaupunkt includes.
There's no need for the conventional 12-volt remote turn-on wire connected to your car stereo. Instead, this Blue Magic sub fires up automatically by sensing the incoming signal coming from your RCA cables or your speaker-level inputs. It's a simple way to get your bass going.
Detach the power and ground connector for quickly removing and re-installing the Blaupunkt sub.
At only 9" deep, this compact bass blaster can fit in some tight spots. But let's say you need some extra room for your groceries, camping gear, or golf clubs. Blaupunkt makes it easy. Simply unplug the power and ground connector, detach your RCA cables or speaker wires, and remove the sub for more cargo space. When the cargo is unloaded, you can quickly reattach your subwoofer to get your thump back.
This sub's tough enclosure can withstand the bumps and bruises of life in a trunk or cargo area, and the speaker's protected by a stylish, heavy-duty grille.
To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.
This powered sub is a very solid addition to any persons sound system in their car or truck. 250 watts RMS will provide enough punch to make your mirrors vibrate and still provide clean sounds. You cannot get a better bass package at this price. The box itself looks clean and nice, the quick disconnect feature is a definite plus if you need the extra storage space, and the auto detect feature saves you from having to install a remote cord. The only real gripe that I have about this, is that if you don't have a seat to wedge the thing under (like in a truck) you need to find a way to secure it otherwise it will move while you drive. The other thing is, is that the instructions that come with it to tune your gain to your sound is very basic and not necessarily informative. You also need to set your LPF correctly for songs of different genres and bass notes, otherwise your sound will become muddy because the sub is trying to reproduce to many different notes at the same time (like in some pop and EDM). I listen to a lot of dubstep and this revealed hidden bass that I didn't even know was there. This is a great setup and will be able to provide great, crisp bass, as long as the filters are set. (Written after about a month of it being in my truck)
Pros: Inexpensive Potent Crisp Quick Disconnect Simple Amp Panel RCA Auto Detect
Cons: No mounting hardware (so it will slide if you put it in your trunk) Needs to have the filters set properly otherwise the bass gets "confused"
Perfect. Top quality wires. Great fuse. All perfect length
Pros: Very heavy gauge high stand wire very flexible coatings.
Cons: Only con was not using this on my last system.
The sub was just what my new Golfs factory system needed, the factory system was lacking any low end grunt like most, this sub filled in the void nicely.
Pros: well made, remote gain control, excellent connection/control panel, speaker activated turn on (no need for switched power lead)
Very nice sounding sub. Sounds good with all types of music. Remote gain control makes adjustments very easy. Overall very pleased with this sub.
Pros: Easy setup and installation
Cons: Can get a little boomy if pushed to hard
Big things come in small packages
This sub is so much better than other sub/amp I have ever installed in my 12 years of installing. Very loud for how small it is.
Pros: You don't have to even run a remote wire which saves time and on new cars sometimes that it harder than older cars. Also has the quick disconnect so it is easy to remove when you need room in the trunk.
Cons: Would like to see rubber feet on the bottom of the box so it would not slide in the trunk.
This is a very impressive piece of equipment. It's finished beautifully and sounds amazing. Clearest and deepest bass I've ever heard in a car
Pros: Easy installation
Great bass and kick, allthough I don't listen to music at "11" the xlb delivers a nice heavy kick and deep bass. Another nice feature is the included remote volume adjuster that lets you adjust foe each song.
Installed this on a BMW e46 with factory stock radio and speakers non-HK & non-GPS Navi. I blew both woofers on the stock radio setup and specifically the 2 ohm woofers mounted on the rear deck. I purchased this as a replacement woofer to pick up the 20 -250 hertz low range, along with a set of 5/12 speakers for low-mid frequency fill in the 60-2k hz range to replace the rear deck speakers. Wow! Truly an OUTSTANDING woofer for the price and the sound is perfect fill even when mounted in the trunk facing away from the back seat. I could not be any happier with the sound pressure that it produces inside the BMW 2004 325i and I just can't imagine how much SPL would be heard if installed inside the cab itself. The line level inputs are perfect for this setup and requires NO splicing if using split clips to tap into existing speaker wires; the brown wires are ground and the white wire is the remote turn on 12v on a BMW. This was icing on the German Chocolate cake! :-) Play with the settings on gain, freq cut off, and bass boost; however, I found that the box is nicely tuned already. I ended setting everything at the low end for all setting on the amplified woofer variables. I can also make some adjustments on the radio to control bass, treble, fade to further control the woofer output. Danke! I would love to post some pictures that I took of the set-up if Crutchfield would let me and let others see how easy this was to install.
Pros: Settings to control gain, cut off frequency, and bass boost. Excellent bass from 250 hertz down to 20 hertz Small size and excellent construction
Cons: No wires included, it would be nice to include 6 feet of 8 gauge of red and black wires. A blue remote turn-on signal wire and a couple more fuses.

Remote Gain Control: The included wired remote allows you to control the output level from the front of the vehicle. The remote is designed to mount under the dash. The attached 16' cable, with a 3.5mm mini-plug on the end, connects to the powered sub.
Note: The remote measures approximately 1-7/8" wide (2-1/2" including the mounting flange) x 1" tall x 1-3/4" deep (2-1/4" including the knob and wiring).

The sub has everything you need. I actually returned mine after it blew. It is overpowered and has to be watched very carefully for distortion. [ Eric May 31, 2015 ]
No, you'll need wiring. It comes with the basic connectors to the box itself. I purchased the Kicker CK8 wiring kit in addition to XLb 250. The head unit I purchased had RCA out for the subwoofer and that is the route I went. The Kicker wiring kit was probably a little overkill since it had wiring I didn't need but I was able to hook everything up without making a run to the store. As for the wiring: you need a power cable with inline fuse that will hook up to the car battery and gets routed to the connector to the sub. You also need a grounding wire for the sub, and, then, either RCA cables or speaker wire to connect from stereo to the sub. I purchased the stereo, sub, wiring harness kit, and the Kicker sub/speaker wiring kit from Crutchfield and installed everything the following day without a hitch. I hope that helps. Every thin is there including a gain adjuster on a cable. The only thing you may need is a larger power cable for a long power run. No anchors cane to fix the speaker in place. Speaker input is a breeze even if tapped from rear speaker. [ Ronald May 21, 2015 ]
You'll need wiring. Look at the EFX PA10BX Wiring Kit. The sub and the wiring kit are all you'll need. [ Chris May 21, 2015 ]
