So your music sounds a little thin and you want some low-end oomph, but you don't want to install a bunch of gear in your vehicle to make it happen. Enter Blaupunkt's Blue Magic XLb 300 A.
This compact powered subwoofer uses a beefy 500-watt amplifier and a 12" sub to give you the low-frequency punch you need to round out your music. You can use the variable crossover control and phase switch to tune the bass for your vehicle, and you can crank the bass boost dial if you want even more low-end throttle.
Once you've adjusted the settings, you can turn up the bass output right from the driver's seat using the wired remote control that Blaupunkt includes.
There's no need for the conventional 12-volt remote turn-on wire connected to your car stereo. Instead, this Blue Magic sub fires up automatically by sensing the incoming signal coming from your RCA cables or your speaker-level inputs. It's a simple way to get your bass going.
Detach the power and ground connector for quickly removing and re-installing the Blaupunkt sub.
At only 10" deep, this compact bass blaster can fit in some tight spots. But let's say you need some extra room for your groceries, camping gear, or golf clubs. Blaupunkt makes it easy. Simply unplug the power and ground connector, detach your RCA cables or speaker wires, and remove the sub for more cargo space. When the cargo is unloaded, you can quickly reattach your subwoofer to get your thump back.
This sub's tough enclosure can withstand the bumps and bruises of life in a trunk or cargo area, and the speaker's protected by a stylish, heavy-duty grille.
To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.
It's loud but it seems to lag a little behind the music. It's also not very punchy and it's more boomy. I listen to techno music and I prefer the quicker response sub woofers
Pros: Loud and boomy
Cons: Not as punchy and responsive as I'd like
This Blue Magic is easy to install. I like that the amp has already been matched and is hidden inside the box making it a clean install. The additional features of having a volume control, and can be mounted anywhere. In the old days we had to pull over and crank up the dial- now it's at your fingertips. This easily fits behind the seat of an S-10 pickup with bucket seats/ or split bench. I complimented this with a new Kenwood excelon KDC-X598.
Pros: Easy hook-up, clean design with amp already installed- no guess work on compatibility.
I was a bit hesitant on this setup, but I highly recommend it for those who want a hard hitting sub but like to save space. This beats the alpine type r 12 I had which also was pushing 500 watts. I love that it comes with the gain knob. I can adjust the bass for each song as I please from the drivers seat. Works wonders since I listen many genres. Going to purchase a second for my wife's car very soon.
Pros: -No need to find matching amplifier -Doesn't require remote wire ( turns on using signal from RCA) -GAIN remote control included - amp built in box
Cons: None so far
Easy install, especially with the wiring kit bought here. Just needed a big terminal ring for the ground cable because I used the seat belt bolt. Definitely use the remote volume control! Different styles of music will like this sub in different ways. I have a good jvc head unit so I can switch the eq on the fly. This boombox will give a decent shake to your car and get very loud.
Pros: Lots of fun
Cons: I had to buy an alpine amp to boost the mids and highs from my four polk door speakers. You might want to think about getting the wiring kit for two amps when you get this sub. I know I am glad I did!

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The subwoofer box does not list the amount of air space the box has but based on the dimensions of the box I would estimate it to be around 1.5 cubic feet. This powered sub can enhance bass in any factory or aftermarket stereo system. There is an installation kit available for this application. I highly recommend it. [ MIKE Jul 19, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Pretty much any stereo with a subwoofer preamp output will be compatible with this powered subwoofer. Also so we can recommend correctly we need to know if you have the factory Bose audio system in the Altima? You will need the EFX 8-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit to have this subwoofer installed.
