The AH-D5000 headphones from Denon feature beautifully polished mahogany earcup housings, using the acoustic properties of the wood to add natural warmth to your music. Responsive micro-fiber diaphragms reproduce fine sonic details and clear, defined bass. Small openings on the outer part of the wooden earcups further increase efficiency and improve overall sound quality, like the port on a speaker cabinet.

Mahogany Enclosures: The enclosures used for the Denon AH-D5000 headphones employ housings made of natural wood Mahogany with superior acoustic characteristics that are rich with a broad, natural sound. Mahogany is a very popular material for drum making and guitars because of its great integrity and capability to produce very dark, warm tones compared to other more common wood types like maple or birch.  Along with its acoustic characteristics, mahogany's light weight makes it an excellent headphone material as well.

Driver: The Denon AH-D5000 headphones feature a 50mm driver with a 1-31/32" Neodymium magnet in each ear-cup to reproduce delicate musical details and powerful sound.

Microfiber Diaphragm: A micro-fiber has been used to form the headphone's diaphragm so that it faithfully reproduces the sonic details and delicate reverberations that occur in concert halls.  The size of the micro-fibers is approximately 1/100 that of natural cellulose used in ordinary diaphragms, and with this density, ransmission rates are increased.

Acoustic Optimizer: The acoustic optimizer provides optimum acoustic characteristics by adjusting the sound pressure balance in front of and behind the diaphragm.  This makes the sound more dynamic, provides clear bass, and also keeps balance at low to mid frequency ranges.

Comfortable Fit: The headphones use a light-weight magnesium frame and feature vinyl covered foam ear-cups that gently rest over the ear and a padded adjustable headband for added comfort.

High Quality OFC Cable: The cable used is made of high purity 99.9% 7N OFC cable and employs an aluminum connector cover and a cloth mesh jacket.  The High-quality cables are of equal length for the Left and Right channels to maintain optimum sound quality and performance.

Connector: The headphones feature a gold-plated 3.5mm mini-plug connector for superior signal transfer with an aluminum cover to add more durability. The headphones also come supplied with a gold-plated 3/4" adapter plug.

Great headphone, one of the best I heard over my long audiophile years. It has an exciting sound signature with a slight sibilance in the highend. The bass is punchy and goes very very very deep. The mid is lushy and emotional with a hint of spark in the vocal area. The treble is detailed and lean. Overall is a great headphone for the money. I myself have done the Markl mod and a recable with Mogmi and it makes a huge difference in the sq. The markl mod tone down the mid bass a,d brings out the mid even more makes it one of the most balanced non-monitor headphones in the market. The Mogmi cables makes the sibilance goes away while still retaining that sparkly vocal and treble. I recommend a tube amplifier to add warmth because they are someone bright and forward. I came from a Sennheiser so it's a huge difference in sound signature. This denon is great for electronics and modern music while I keep the sennheisers for classical and jazzs.

Cons: Some people report problems with the hinges
