If you'd like to add more music to your life, the Denon AVR-X1100W IN-Command receiver will be a welcome addition to your home theater. It's designed to let you get as much of your music collection playing through your speakers as possible, regardless of where your digital tunes are stored. This receiver is loaded with wireless capabilities, so you can stream music from smartphones, tablets, computers, and online music services. Connect your speakers and wired components like a cable box, gaming system, and Blu-ray player to turn your living room into a true home theater with walloping surround sound. It's even 4K-ready for connection to an Ultra HD TV.
With all the various devices we use to play music, the hardest part can be playing them all through our home theater speakers. The AVR-X1100W takes all the mystery out of this process. Have a networked computer or music server? Built-in Wi-Fi along with DLNA compatibility will place your entire collection at your fingertips. Have a tablet and smartphone? If it's an Apple® device, AirPlay has you covered. If it's Android™ or another platform, built-in Bluetooth will do the trick. Are you a subscriber to Spotify's premium service? Access their entire library through the Spotify app and play it all back with this receiver. Plus, there's Pandora, SiriusXM, and free Internet radio streams all accessible using this receiver on its own.
The free Denon Remote App turns your Apple or Android smartphone into a powerful Wi-Fi remote.
Wish you could have music playing in two rooms? The 'X1100W can help you do it. Its multi-zone feature means it can power speakers in two rooms simultaneously — playing different songs in each or the same song in both rooms. Use the surround back speaker outputs to power stereo speakers in another room. Connect them in a kitchen, bedroom, or out on a porch to listen to tunes while the rest of the family enjoys a movie in 5.2-channel surround sound in the home theater.
To get sound that's perfectly optimized for your room and speaker setup, you'll need to calibrate your speakers. Luckily, that's as easy as plugging in the included microphone into the AVR-X1100W's front-panel and pressing "Start." The mic will take speaker measurements as test tones are played. Then, the receiver's Audyssey processing will adjust settings to guarantee well-balanced surround sound in your room. Audyssey's Dynamic EQ and Volume features help your system perform better at lower volume levels and minimize large volume fluctuations while watching TV or movies.
Denon's free Remote App can turn your smartphone or tablet into a powerful Wi-Fi remote control. Download it on your Apple or Android device and use it to change sources, adjust the volume, control music in multiple zones, and listen to Internet and network music sources.
Like all of Denon's IN-Command receivers, the AVR-X1100W offers useful home automation features. It can be set up and operated by a computer over a wired or wireless home network via IP control. There's an infrared input on the rear-panel, for use with external remotes and control systems. And the AVR-X1100W is certified for use with Control4 home automation equipment.
Your receiver powers your speakers and lets you connect and select your entertainment sources. But a great receiver does a lot more it ignites your emotions. From the passion of a favorite musical artist, to the crossfire of a super-charged movie soundtrack, to the intensity and immersion of a fast-paced video game, your receiver is the key to experiencing and enjoying it in full.
Worked great! For 15 months, would have expected more from my first Denon product, won't be buying another!
Cons: Display quit working, seems to be a common problem
Blown away with your customer service. The 1100 is great.
Pros: Denon plus Crutchfield = great
Cons: Cannot get my Direct TV remote to work on Denon
The Denon receiver was easy to set up. The on screen prompts makes the entire install effortless. The microphone in the box is great for setting up the sound displacement for the ideal sound and placement for the type and size of area your surround sound speaker system is placed.
Pros: I upgraded from an analog system to the newer digital wireless system, in which i think is a great improvement in home HI-FI sound system.
Cons: Analog systems are heavier and bulkier, harder to maneuver in tight spaces. A serious effort and cost is considered in repairing the analog systems.
Had it for 3 weeks now. Works great. Sounds great. Easy setup. Love the features.
I finally upgraded my 2 channel stereo receiver with something nice. Currently only using it to power a record player, and 2 Klipsch reference bookshelf speakers, but it sounds amazing. Will do a full review when 5.1 with zone 2 outdoor speakers are installed.
Pros: App is very cool, wifi and AirPlay are great too. Sounds excellent.
Cons: Gets really hot being inside a cabinet.
After my 3 year old Yamaha receiver died I decided to try a Denon. Best decision I could have made, this unit rocks! Delivers crisp clear sound even at low volume. Surround sound is far better than any of my previous receivers. I love it.
Pros: Easy set up
In my opinion Denon produces some of the most reliable Home Theater receivers. My recent purchase of the AVR-X1100 proves my point. First off, it is easy to connect the plugs in the rear to the right speakers (especially with the use of gorilla plugs) and the supplied tags to place on the wires only help keep things neat. Second is the ability to set the sound for a variety of sources; there is a setting for music, another for Cinema, for games or if you wish a multi stereo setting for the entire room. The versatility of this set is really amazing for the price, which for what is included is very reasonable. All in all I could not be happier with this purchase. It fills all my needs and then some.
Pros: Not only the ease of set up but how quickly it was accomplished. Excellent sound quality Ample HDMI inputs for all my needs. Airplay Network availability and internet availability
Cons: So far I have found nothing to find fault with, and since I have had other Denon products I know how reliable they are.
Bought this to replace a broken down Onkyo 808. The Onkyo is THX certified and gives a much cleaner, crisper sound quality. I used the automatic setup twice and just could not get it to work right in my opinion. I will return and buy a different unit.
Pros: Easy to set-up
Cons: Mediocre sound quality, IMO
Awesome, say no more!
I purchased this denon to replace my pioneer vsx-d914 which was supposed to be 150 watts x6 and this denon blows the pioneer away in every aspect of sound and performance quality this denon is 80 watts x7 and the sounds is unreal from the pioneer. Truly a great buy 5 stars from this guy
Pros: love how I have my satellite Xbox one all hooked up and the stereo menu shows up on tv, the Internet radio is a super sweet bonus where I live we have no good fm channels
Cons: No real cons, only thing I feel could be better is the remote a lcd screen integrated into the remote would make put this receiver on another level for me
Does a very nice job. Audessey is great; sounds good for modern mastered music and video, but you may want to tune manually for vintage tracks and heavily stereophonic tracks (Led Zeppelin's recordings in particular). The AVR tries to hard to recreate something that isn't there.
Sound is clear as can be, and the smart on/off/input selection are great.
Airplay works very well, occasionally dropping signal (post song, not during). Airplay has always done this no matter the hardware iteration.
Good value, and much much better than the two new Onkyo products (AVR and Integrated amp) I tried before settling on this one.
Easy to set up, took maybe 30 mins, sounds great, easy to use....just wish it had a printed owners manual
Pros: Sounds great, easy set up, especially the wifi if you have an iPhone....much easier than my Samsung blue ray player
Cons: No printed owners manuals
Display on front of receiver burned out in 6 months. Buggy software and does not support the Netflix, etc.
Great sound and happy with the overall functionality and use. Some difficulty with set up due to not having a compatible port on the TV but once that worked out it is great.
This receiver has met all my expectations. Quality construction. Great clean sound and the Audyssey system works great. It rally makes a difference and gives you plenty of options to tailor the sound to your preferences.
My old Denon was tired and needed replacing. More than that, it was obsolete as most things of ten years are. This Denon AVRX11000W replaces it perfectly. It connected to my home wireless network easily and I've loaded the Denon app to my phone and tablet. I can now turn on/off, up/down and choose connected (MP3, CD, etc) or internet (Pandora, radio, Spotify) from my phone! As long as I am on my same network, I have complete control, even choosing audio settings. It is the perfect receiver for my setup.
Pros: Ease of connection, zoning, options for control.
Cons: Required a TV to setup which I had to borrow since I do not use one; audio only.
I have been an Onkyo owner for many years and just recently decided to try the Denon for the first time. This unit is everything it claims to be and much more, it is very simple to set up and has all the great features that I was hoping it would have. The unit delivers sound much better that my Onkyo ever did and I am extremely happy I made the switch. Love it awesome receiver.
Cons: I'm not an extremely techie guy so I would say there's no cons for me.
Does all it promises
Pros: AirPlay, Internet radio, great sound
I am extremely happy with this receiver. I bought it to replace a 5-6 yr old Harman Kardon and the difference is surprising. The setup for this device is so easy - it walks you through placement and connection of each individual speaker, sends tones out to determine their location, etc. The sound is fantastic, much better sound than the HK and the video output is much more crisp than with my HK. One of the things I like the most is the iPhone app that lets me control the receiver from my phone. I can sit on the deck or be in another part of the house and can change the inputs, volume or stream Pandora right off the phone, I love it. All in all a great product for the price point.
Pros: Price, sound, video, app, wireless, bluetooth, easy setup, HDMI inputs, look
Cons: none so far
Great sound and features. Access internet radio stations along with Pandora, Etc. Love the android app to control the receiver. No problems setting up. It has an auto set-up feature for fine tuning speakers etc.
Pros: Great value for the price.
Great receiver for basement surround sound
Pros: Easy setup, Bluetooth, great sound
The Denon AVR X1100W is just what the Dr ordered! This receiver does everything it says it would and more. I love the powered two zones and the app!!! Oh yes!!! I love listening to music in my back yard while I work...and change the input and volume all from my phone while out there. The wifi connection is seamless and was as easy to set up as 123! Best receiver I have ever owned...worth every penny!
Pros: wifi, powered multi-zone, enough connections to get the job done!
Cons: None at all!!!
Looked into this new receiver after buying a Bose system. Did some research and found this receiver that does everything I wanted that the yamaha reciever/Bose didn't. Great buy and recommend it. Many features and helpful!
Pros: Lots of features and the two zone setup is amazing with outside speakers by my pool.
Cons: The remote app is incredible, best feature of this reciever. It is slow but what people fail to understand is your phone is communicating with the reciever and it takes time to process the information. It's slow but better than not having a phone remote! I can change stations, volume, and anything else I want while sitting in my pool! Who can say that...
Just upgraded from a 5 year old Onkyo. Super impressed by the on screen set up. I can't believe how easy it was to do all the speaker corrections, network, and configure all my components. Then, I turned it on - *wow*. Perfection. The sound is wonderful.
I honestly have no real complaints. I'm in love.
Pros: Ease of set up. Sound quality. Bluetooth and WiFi. Broad compatibility.
Cons: None I can think of.

Sorry, don't know [ DAVID Mar 09, 2015 ]
I skipped that part of the set up. So my guess is ti go back thru the set up procedure & disable the Bluetooth setting. I was concerned about this issue so I did not enable it. [ JOHN C Feb 24, 2015 ]
This is common with Bluetooth computers and phones and you simply need to turn off the transmitter on your IMac or phone. Most receivers automatically activate the Bluetooth receiver when you turn them on so the best solution is your transmitter. You could also contact Denon on this direct as there may a hidden setting. [ KENNETH Feb 24, 2015 ]
Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to stop connecting to Bluetooth automatically. My workaround has been to only enable Bluetooth on my computer or phone when I want to listen to something. [ TODD Feb 24, 2015 ]
Pete - sorry, I am unable to help. I use my unit for audio only, not A/V and currently am unable to to get the woofer working without using a computer although I know it can be done. Again, sorry. [ WINSOME Feb 24, 2015 ]
I had this same issue with mine!! It was stuck on Bluetooth and no one could figure it out! What I had to do wad return the original one(from local retailer) and just buy another(crutchfield) and I haven't connected it to Bluetooth yet, and probably won't either. It annoyed me though. I don't know what to tell you. [ JAMILYAH Feb 24, 2015 ]

If you have FLAC, you probably don't won't to convert to mp3......I mentioned the wired Ethernet home connection but you can use the MHL compatible connection on the front. Other connections can work too but will downgrade FLAC quality......if you care. [ JOHN Feb 17, 2015 ]
I haven't tried too [ ANDRIA Feb 11, 2015 ]
I am enjoying my Denon AVR-X1100W receiver, but am sorry that I am not familar with flac music. I do know that this receiver almost seems to think; for example, today I started my Asus 75JH gaming laptop which was connected to the receiver via an HDMI cable. When I started the laptop, the receiver found my LG 55" OLED monitor and turned it on, presenting the screen on the laptop, which I then used to play a Lynda tutorial about Lightroom 5.2. So I would imagine playing flac files would be a simple chore for this fabulous receiver, but I can't vouch for it directly. I would suggest, Radu, that you give it a try, Crutchfield has a great return policy. [ JOHN Feb 09, 2015 ]
Hi Radu, This unit does support the flac format. See page 10 of the users manual. I have not done so as of yet. YI u can find a flac to mp3 converter online if necessary as well. [ Michael Feb 08, 2015 ]
I use wired PC over a 35-foot run to listen to Apple Lossless through the Ethernet connection on the unit. [ JOHN Feb 17, 2015 ]
Sorry, I'm among the technologically impaired. I've never heard of a flac file. [ DON Feb 08, 2015 ]
Dolby plus is new. This receiver does not support Dolby plus. [ JOSEPH Dec 10, 2014 ]
Personally I prefer Multichannel stereo, but the receiver seems to have problems responding accurately to my Harmony One [ WILLIAM R Dec 05, 2014 ]
Yes it sure does. [ LOREN Dec 05, 2014 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy Nov 30, 2014 ] Staff
Absolutely. Set the other set of front outputs as Zone 2 in Amp selection screen, then you may place those speakers wherever you want. You can even play two different sources, as long as one of them is a direct source (cable box, cd player), non-internet in otherwords. [ Colleen Feb 02, 2015 ]
Hello, Ed. I have not attempted to connect to wireless speakers in another room or outside. Although, it does have a bluetooth setting, so I am sure that is possible. I currently have the receiver connected to my wireless router and it work fine. [ PATRICK Nov 12, 2014 ]
Heck no, the second zone on mine doesn't even work as prescribed. Their app is terrible. [ ROBERT Nov 12, 2014 ]
Get a power saver or regulator. You should have one anyway. [ Jimmy Jul 31, 2014 ]
