Denon AVR-X2000 7.1-channel home theater receiver with Apple AirPlay

Stream music from your iPad, iPhone, or computer running iTunes with the AVR-X2000's built-in AirPlay support.

Stream easy with AirPlay

Whether you've got music stored on your iPhone, iPad®, or computer running iTunes, AirPlay makes it as simple as pressing “Play” to stream songs to the 'X2000. It's so easy to browse and listen, you may find yourself rediscovering music you forgot you owned. Even if you don't have hundreds of gigabytes of digital tunes, don't feel left out — the 'X2000 features built-in support for Spotify® and SiriusXM subscribers, as well as free Pandora® Internet radio and DLNA-compatibility for networked PCs. That's millions of songs at your fingertips before you've connected a single component to this receiver. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network.

Audyssey fine-tunes your system

Denon's home theater receivers continue to get easier to set up and control. One of the 'X2000's best setup features is the built-in Audyssey speaker calibration software. Not only does it optimize your system to fit your room, but it can also tone down loud commercials as well as improve dialogue and surround effects during low-level listening. The 'X2000's full-color on-screen display uses lots of graphics makes these and other settings a breeze to navigate. Once you're set up, be sure to download the free Denon Remote app for your Apple or Android™ smartphone. It's the simplest and most intuitive way to control your receiver via your home Wi-Fi network.

Two assignable channels to fit your setup

With 7 pairs of speaker outputs, the AVR-X2000 offers a lot of setup flexibility, so you can customize your home theater to your own space and needs. Connecting a 5.1 surround system in one room leaves outputs for a stereo system in a second room — no additional amp required. Or use those extra channels in Zone 1 for "front high" or "surround back" speakers to give movie soundtracks even more depth and realism. Or try bi-amping your compatible front speakers to squeeze even more detail out of your two-channel music.

All the connectivity you need

Worried the 'X2000 can't handle all your components and sources? Seven HDMI inputs ought to ease your concern, with plenty of room for Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, cable boxes, and more. Analog-to-HDMI upscaling means you'll only need a single cable to connect this receiver to your HDTV. There's also a front-panel USB connection for your iPod® or other Apple device. It creates a direct digital connection, so you can get even better sound from it using the 'X2000's circuitry.

    Audio Features

Equal Power Amp Design w Discrete Circuitry: The Denon AVR-X2000 is equipped with a 7 channel power amplifier rated at 95-watts (into 8-ohms, at 20-20kHz, with 0.08% THD, driving 2 channels) that reproduces high-fidelity sound in surround mode with equal quality and power for all channels, true to the original sound. The power amplifier circuit adopts a discrete-circuit configuration that achieves high-quality surround sound reproduction. To faithfully reproduce the original surround sound, each of the Denon AVR-X2000's seven channels are equipped with its own high-current power amp of equal power. Since these power amps also use discrete circuits configured with parts strictly selected for their contribution to high sound quality, rather than with low-cost integrated circuits (ICs), the surround sound playback is of impeccably high quality.

Amplifier Assignment: The AVR-X2000's seven discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup.

    • Surround Back: The AV receiver's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Surround Back Left/Right for Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx 7.1ch playback.
    • Bi-Amp: You can configure the amplifier for front bi-amp operation to achieve a higher-quality 2-channel sound by connecting the receiver's front and surround back channels to your main front speakers (if compatible). Receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround.
    • Front B: A second set of front speakers can be powered by the surround back amplifier. Receiver will be limited to 5.1ch surround.
    • Front Height: The receiver's amplifier channels can also be configured as Front Left/Right, Front Height Left/Right, Center, and Surround Left/Right for Dolby Pro Logic IIz 7.1ch playback.
    • Zone2: In addition, the AVR-X2000's amplifier channels can be configured as Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right, and Zone 2 for Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II 5.1ch playback in the main zone and 2ch PCM playback in the second zone.

24-bit/192-kHz DACs: This receiver is equipped with 24-bit/192-kHz DACs for all channels to decode and playback high-resolution recordings with less jitter and  clearer sound.

32-Bit Processing DSP: The Denon AVR-X2000 is equipped with an Analog Devices 32-bit DSP for powerful and highly accurate surround sound reproduction.

Multi-Channel Decoding Formats: The Denon AVR-X2000 AV receiver supports the following multi-channel (Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic) decoding formats.

Note: Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your audio source is connected to the AV receiver via a digital audio connection (HDMI, optical, or coaxial). To enjoy true 7.1ch Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD surround sound, the receiver must be connected to your Blu-ray player via HDMI.

Denon Original Listening Modes: Denon's Original Listening Modes, combined with Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro Logic processing, produce more realistic, powerful sound effects for your movie and music sound tracks based on the type of content and your home theater setup. You can choose from the following:

    • Rock Arena: For rock and popular music sources, this mode surrounds you with reflected sound of the kind you would hear at a live concert.
    • Jazz Club: This mode recreates the atmosphere of a live house where the ceiling is low and you are enveloped with rich doses of reflected sound.
    • Matrix: With this mode, you can add rich reflected sound to 2-channel stereo music sources where reflected sound is normally not audible.
    • Video Game: This mode is suited for achieving surround sound with video games..
    • Mono Movie: This mode is used when you listen to recorded monaural sound sources such as AM radio broadcasts or news programs from the center speaker.
    • Virtual: Enjoy surround effects using only the front speakers or set of headphones.
    • Multichannel Stereo: Left and right stereo channels are distributed to all the speakers so that stereo sound can be heard from all directions at any listening position.
Note: This unit automatically generates a list of all the playable sound modes based on the input audio format and the current speaker setup configuration and displays the list on the screen. Therefore, you can select a correct surround playback mode even if you are not familiar with sound mode selection.

Direct Listening Modes: The Denon AVR-X2000 offers two Direct Listening Modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. Direct Mode provides playback of 2ch or Multichannel audio in its original form, without any surround or tone processing. Pure Direct Mode goes a step further by turning off the receiver's display and analog video circuitry to minimize the possibility of any noised being added to the audio signal.

Audyssey Technology: The AVR-X2000 features a full package of Audyssey audio technologies for optimal sound quality. Audyssey Dynamic Volume offers real-time volume adjustment, while Audyssey DynamicEQ improves your system's surround effects during low volume levels. Audyssey MultEQ automatically sets speakers to suit your room's listening environment and the speakers' characteristics.

    • Audyssey MultEQ: Audyssey MultEQ technology helps create an optimal acoustic profile for your home theater. Using the included setup microphone, Audyssey MultEQ measures sound levels and adjusts speaker configuration accordingly, making setup fast and easy. This room acoustic measuring and correction system analyzes (via the included microphone) the audio characteristics of your speaker system and your listening environment at up to 6 measurement points and automatically tailors the sound for top audio fidelity. You can set the Audyssey MultEQ to one of the following modes.
      • Audyssey: Optimizes the crossover point, output level, delay time, and equalization of all speakers based on speaker frequency response, speaker location, and room acoustics.
      • Audyssey Bypass L/R: Optimizes all speakers except front left and right.
      • Audyssey Flat: Optimizes frequency response of all speakers to flat.
      • Manual: Adjusts the tonal quality for each speaker individually using the manual equalizer settings; 63 Hz, 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz, and 16 kHz (-20dB to +6dB).
      • Off: Turns equalizer off.
    • Dynamic EQ: Audio engineers mix music and movie soundtracks at reference levels much louder than typical home listening levels. At lower volumes the human ear perceives sound differently; voices change, bass dissipates, and the surround effect becomes less enveloping. Dynamic EQ adjusts the frequency response curve based on volume to maintain consistent bass output, octave-to-octave balance, and surround impact, resulting in rich sound at any volume. You can set the Dynamic EQ to 0, 5, 10, or 15 dB.
    • Audyssey Dynamic Volume: Audyssey Dynamic Volume solves the problem of large variations in volume level between television programs, commercials, and between the soft and loud passages of movies. Dynamic Volume addresses the issue of commercials that are too loud and movie soundtracks with vast differences between soft and loud passages; the results are more intelligible dialogue, loud passages maintain impact, and soft whispers are heard clearly. When the volume level changes, Dynamic EQ also adjusts the frequency response to maintain sound quality. You can set the Dynamic Volume to Day (low), Evening (middle), Midnight (high), or off.

Surround Parameters: You can adjust the following surround mode parameters:

    • Dolby Pro Logic II Music Settings: While listening in the Dolby Pro Logic II Music format, there are three further enhancements you can adjust:
      • Panorama: Broadens the front stereo image to the surround speakers to provide a wraparound effect, especially effective when there is limited output from the surround channels, panorama can be turned on/off in the menu.
      • Dimension: Allows you to move the sound field forward or backward.
      • Center Width: Allows you to adjust the width of the center channel.
    • Center Image: In the Neo:6 Music mode, the Center Image feature adjusts the output of the left and right channels relative to the center channel, allowing you to make the center channel more or less dominant as needed. This improves the image of the center channel, especially when the listener is off-center. Adjustment varies from 5 (nothing subtracted from the L/R channels) to 0 (L/R channel output is cut in half).
    • Denon Original Surround Mode Settings: While listening in one of the Denon Original Surround Modes, there are three further enhancements you can adjust:
      • Room Size: This feature allows you to set the size of your desired acoustic environment when using specific Denon Original Surround Modes; select Small, Medium small, Medium, Medium large, or Large.
      • Effect Level: This function adjusts the effect signal level from 1 to 15 when using specific Denon Original Surround Modes.
      • Delay Time: This feature adjusts the delay time (0-300ms) to control the sound stage size.
    • Height Gain: Adjust the volume (Low/Mid/High) of the Front Height channels in Dolby Pro Logic IIz.

Audio Enhancements: The Denon AVR-X2000 receiver provides various audio enhancements to deliver a high-quality listening experience every time.

    • CINEMA EQ (Cinema Equalizer): The Cinema EQ function gently decreases the level of the extreme high frequencies, compensating for overly-bright sounding motion picture soundtracks. Select this function if the sound from the front speakers is too bright. This function only works in the Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic (including PL II, PL IIx, PL IIz), and DTS Neo:6 modes.
    • Restorer: Compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and MPEG-4 AAC reduce the amount of data by eliminating signal components that are hard for the human ear to hear. The Restorer function generates the signals eliminated upon compression, restoring the sound to conditions near those of the original sound before compression. It also corrects the sense of volume of the bass to obtain richer sound with compressed audio signals.
    • Dynamic Range Compression (DRC): Motion picture soundtracks have tremendous dynamic range (the contrast between very soft and very loud sounds). For listening late at night, or whenever the maximum sound level is lower than usual, Compressing the dynamic range allows you to hear all of the sounds in the soundtrack with reduced dynamic range. DRC works when playing program sources recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS.
    • Tone Settings: You can independently adjust the system's overall Bass and Treble settings from -6 to +6 dB.

Volume Settings: The AVR-X2000 offers the following volume settings.

    • Volume Scale: You can choose to display an Absolute volume scale (0-98) or Relative volume scale (-79.5 to 18dB).
    • Volume Limit: You can set a maximum volume level of 0, -10, or -20 dB to limit the receiver's total volume output.
    • Power On Level: You can define the volume setting that is active when the power is turned on (0, 1-98, -79 to +18dB, or Last)
    • Mute Level: You can set the amount of attenuation for the audio muting circuit; -40dB or -20dB below current volume, or full mute (sound turned off entirely).

Level Adjustments:  The AVR-X2000 provides the following level adjustments.

    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.
    • Dialogue Level: You can adjust the output level (+/-12dB) to clarify the dialogue output from the center channel.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can set the receiver's subwoofer output level (+/-12dB) independent from the other speaker levels and system's main volume.

Audio Inputs/Outputs: The Denon AV receiver offers a variety of analog and digital audio inputs/outputs.

    • Assignable Digital Inputs: The AVR-X2000 features an optical digital (Toslink) input and a coaxial digital input. Each input can be assigned to any of the different input sources except Tuner.
    • Speaker Terminals w/ Color Labels: The receiver has binding-post terminals for all speaker connections. The binding-polst terminals can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual). The receiver will accept speaker impedances of 6 to 16-ohm. The AV receiver comes with color labels to easily identify which channel a speaker cable should be connected to. Since the speaker cables have labels in the same colors as the connectors on the AVR-X2000's rear panel, there's no longer any confusion about which terminals they should be connected to.
    • Headphones: When headphones are plugged into the full-size 1/4" jack on the front panel, all the speakers are automatically muted.
    Video Features

HDMI (v1.4): With seven HDMI v1.4 inputs (6 rear/1 front), the AVR-X2000 allows you to route multiple high-definition devices, such as your Blu-ray player and cable/satellite receiver, to your TV. It also allows you to connect all of your devices to your TV with a single HDMI cable (via its HDMI monitor output), reducing cable clutter. The HDMI inputs are assignable to different input sources. The receiver's HDMI v.1.4 jacks are compatible with 1080p/24Hz & 4K video, 3D video signals, Deep Color & x.v.Color technology; as well as LipSync, ARC, and HDMI control.

    • 3D Pass-Through: With the advent of 3D media, it is important to own a receiver that recognizes 3D video signals. The AVR-X2000 is able to pass through 3D signals from your Blu-ray player, ensuring that the 3D effect doesn't get lost in translation. It also recognizes signals from 3D television broadcasts. By connecting a 3D-compliant Blu-ray disc player and 3D-compliant TV to the AVR-X2000, you will have a 3D home theater where you can enjoy high-definition sound and video on a level you've never experienced before.
    • Deep/x.v.Color Support: The AVR-X2000 also supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes. The result is a more lifelike, vibrant picture.
    • LipSync: If needed, the audio signal can be manually delayed to match the video signal; adjust from 0-200ms.
    • ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to your receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

4K Pass-Through + Video Upconversion: The Denon AV receiver's Analog Device 12-bit video processor (ADV8003) supports pass-through of 1080p/24Hz and 4K Ultra HD video. This sophisticated video processor also provides upconversion from standard definition (480i/480p) and high definition (720p/1080i1080p) sources to 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160 pixels), which lets you connect all your analog (composite/component) or digital (HDMI) video sources to the AVR-X2000 and then connect to your HDTV with just a single HDMI cable.

HDMI Standby Pass-Through: When enabling the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function, regardless of whether the AV receiver is "On" or in "Standby" both audio/video streams from an HDMI input will be output to your television, via the receiver's HDMI monitor output. You can select between three HDMI through function modes.

    • HDMI Input: Selects the HDMI Input (1-4) for which the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled.
    • Last: The HDMI Standby-Through function is activated on the input source selected at the time of setting the AV receiver to the "Standby" mode.
    • Off: The HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is disabled.

Analog Video Inputs: The receiver features two composite video inputs and one component video input. These analog video inputs are output to your television via the receiver's HDMI monitor output. The receiver does not offer composite video or component video outputs.

Picture Mode: The receiver provides Picture Mode to adjust the picture quality for your viewing content and environment. You can select from Standard, Movie, Vivid, Streaming, Custom, or Off. The Custom mode lets you manually adjust Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Hue, Noise Reduction, and Enhancer (sharpness).

Video Select Function: While listening to Network/Tuner/USB content, you can switch the receiver's video input so you can display video while listening to an audio source.

    Network + Tuner Functions

    Convenience Features

On-Screen GUI w/ Setup Assistant (via HDMI): The AV receiver's on-screen display (GUI) provides information about your system's settings (with video overlay). The on-screen graphical display combines large, clear text and icons, so you can easily make all necessary adjustments and settings during setup, to quickly and easily optimize the AVR-X2000 for your particular speaker setup and source equipment. The exclusive Denon Setup Assistant easily walks you through the whole process. When you control the sound volume, the volume level is displayed on-screen, and when you switch the input source, the name of the input source is also displayed on-screen. The on-screen menu can only be output to your TV via HDMI.

Multi-Source/Multi-Zone: The Denon AVR-X2000 offers Zone 2 and All Zone Stereo functionality for playback of audio in two separate rooms of your home.

    • Zone 2: Denon's Zone 2 function lets you select a different audio source for listening in a second location of your home. The AVR-X2000 features a Main Zone (audio/video) and Zone 2 (audio only). The Main Zone offers 7.1-channel playback of your audio/video gear in your main entertainment room. Zone 2 allows stereo audio playback of another source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via left/right RCA audio or speaker level outputs. When using the AVR-X2000 to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.1-channels. When using the receiver's line output terminals for the second room you need an additional amplifier to power those speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.1-channel. The volume of Zone 2 can be controlled by the Denon receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.
      • Compatible Zone Sources: Only tuner, analog, USB/iPod, and Network/AirPlay sources can be played in Zone 2. You cannot select different AM/FM radio stations or different Network content for different zones.
      • Incompatible Zone Sources: It is not possible to play the digital audio signals from the HDMI, Coaxial, or Optical terminals in Zone 2. Video cannot be sent to Zone 2.
    • All Zone Stereo Function: The All Zone Stereo function allows you to enjoy the AV receiver's Main Zone audio source in Zone 2 simultaneously (regardless of input audio signal types; analog or digital). During the All Zone Stereo, 2ch playback is automatically selected for all zones and each zone will play at the same volume level. This is useful when you want to enjoy the same music at the same time in multiple rooms during a get together or party.

Front-Panel Display Dimmer: The receiver features 4 display settings for the front-panel LCD window; Bright, Dim, Dark, and Off.

Quick Select: The receiver's front-panel has four Quick Select buttons. Each button can be programmed with a specific input source, surround mode, and volume setting for easy recall.

Source Rename/Hide: You can change the display name (up to 8 characters) of a selected input source. If an input isn't being used, you can hide it from the display so you don't have to scroll past it when you change sources.

Text Search: You can search Internet Radio, USB, and DLNA content using keyword searches from the AV receiver's on-screen menu and remote control.

Slide Shows/Picture View: You can play back still image (JPEG) files stored on a USB memory device or media server and pictures on Flickr website as a slide show. The display time can also be set. You can also play back music and a favorite picture at the same time via USB, Internet Radio, or Media Server.

Personal Memory Plus: For each input, the receiver automatically memorizes the settings for input mode, surround mode, HDMI output mode, audio delay, etc. When the input source is switched, the settings last used for that source are automatically recalled. The surround parameters, tone control settings, and playback levels for the different output channels are memorized for each surround mode.

Protection Circuit: This is a function to prevent damage to components within the power supply when an abnormality such as an overload, excess voltage, or over-heating occurs. In this unit, the power indicator blinks and the unit enters standby mode when an abnormality occurs.

Timers: The receiver features a programmable Sleep Timer and Auto Standby function.

    • Sleep Timer: This function allows you to automatically set the power to standby after a predetermined amount of time has passed; set the sleep timer up to 120 minutes in 10 minute increments.
    • Auto Standby: The unit enters standby mode automatically when no commands are sent to the unit for the set time (30 or 60 minutes). Before it enters the standby mode, "Auto Standby" is displayed on the front-panel display of this unit and the on-screen menu.
    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The AVR-X2000 comes with an IR wireless remote control that can operate this receiver only. The remote control features Glow keys so it can easily be used in the dark.

HDMI Control: The Denon AVR-X2000 can control select external audio/video components connected via HDMI which support HDMI control. When you make an HDMI connection with a TV or player compatible with the AVR-X2000's HDMI control function, you can perform the operations from the AVR-X2000's remote control; Power off, Switching of audio output devices, Switching of audio input devices, Volume adjustment, and Playback functions.

Denon Remote App: The Denon Remote App lets you control the Denon Network A/V receiver using your Apple iOS or Android device. Simply download the free Denon Remote App from the iTunes App Store for the iPod touch/iPhone/iPad (iOS 4.3+), or download the free Denon Remote App from Google Play for your compatible Android device (1.5+). The AV receiver will need to be connected to the same network as your Apple iOS or Android device. This free Remote App lets you control the Denon A/V receiver's basic functions (power, volume, input, surround modes) from your Apple iOS or Android device. You can even navigate the A/V receiver's network and Internet content from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device. For added convenience, there are eight customizable home screen short cut buttons that allow you to tailor the look and function of the Denon Remote App to suit your needs.

Custom Integration: The AVR-X2000 is part of Denon's IN-Command series line-up of receiver, which is Denon's certification to custom installers that the receiver has advanced connectivity and control features often required for custom home integration and theater applications using premium control systems. These features include a RS232C jack for use with whole house control systems and remote in/out IR command control.

    • RS-232C Port: Port for connection to external whole-house control systems, from companies such as AMX, Crestron, etc.
    • Remote Jacks: Minijack input and output jacks for use with an optional IR repeater system (sold separately).

The App states iPad and Iphone and doesn't mention Itouch. I have both the phone and pad and it works seamlessly with those. I don't believe the Touch has the required hardware to work with the receiver. Maybe contact Denon support, they respond to questions very quickly.

I would think so. I have an iPhone and the Denon remote app works great. It works using the wireless network, so as long as you have the receiver connected to your wireless network, it should work fine.

Yes, you can. As long as you have and iPod Touch that can run the Denon Remote app, is connected to your wifi network, and the X2000 is also connected to the same network. There are also some 3rd party apps that will control it such as DeRemote.

I believe so. If you go to the Crutchfield listing and look at the picture of the back you will see a section labeled "Pre-Out" for both sub-woofer and Zone 2. I believe you can slave Zone to to the master source and use as the feed for your other amp. Call the tech line at Crutchfield - they are awesome. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I have experienced occasional "blank spots" in the audio during Blu-ray playback. What is the cause of this, and is there a remedy?
    clyde  Aug 01, 2014

How old is the Blu-Ray player? It may be a surround sound setting, mis- wire of the speakers, or both. Do the blank spots effect all the audio or only what comes from the center channel. i.e. dialog. If all the settings and most importantly the correct wiring including polarity are correct, then I would move on to some other troubleshooting. Make sure to not the layout of the back panel and match positive to positive and negative to negative to the proper channel. Also make sure the polarity is correct on the back of the speaker. First I would take note when the blank spots come. If it is in the same time stamp, then I would guess it's the disk. If it's random, then I would move the HDMI cable to another input and see if it still happens. If it does, I would rule out the receiver and swap the HDMI cable. Make sure you have the proper HDMI cable. The HDMI standard you should be using is 1.4, 1.4a, or 1.4b. The newest is HDMI 2.0 which I If this fixes it, then it's just the cable. If it is still there after the HDMI cable, I would try another player to see if this may be the problem.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I'm afraid we don't have a wi fi adaptor for that model. I would suggest checking with Denon to see if they have a preferred one that would work. You can reach them at 800-497-8921. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

One thing to consider: A 20% increase in power output DOES NOT relate to a 20% increase in volume, almost tenth of increase as it's not exponential. Can look up the article if need be; but memory has a 50% increase in amp power related to 10% increase in volume into the same efficiency speakers (which really DOES affect the power you need to drive the speakers) (honest rms into 8ohm , two channels david  Sep 05, 2014

    Hi Ryan W total wattage is 95 watts (8 ?/ohms, 20 Hz - 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.) 5.1 or 7.1 and 125 watts (6 ?/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.) 5.1 or 7.1 Specifications is on the download pdf manual at Crutchfield site search on appendix. hope this helps.

Per "AVForums", it has seven discrete channels each rated at 95 watts @ 8ohms. I have it set up in a 7.1 channel configuration and output with movies and music is very impressive even compared to the Denon 120 watts per channel receiver it replaces.

Well for future reference this info can be found on the manufactures website. But these are the spec they have on this AV receiver, hope it helps. I believe the rating @ 95 watts per channel if for 8 ohm. Also all speaker outputs are 95 watt, if you use the 5.1 or 7.1, you just get to assign the two extra speakers for another job to support the main speaker outputs if you use 5.1.

Yes but why? Set up: Choose manual, go to audio / choose graphic eq. If you've set up using Audyssey, this is not an available option. Audyssey makes set up really easy and it does a good job, I've tried it both ways and always seem to be missing sounds from movie soundtracks using graphic EQ and manual. Good luck, I like it and it has plenty of power and features for the price point, with decent speakers it's a great deal.

Interested in this receiver with connection to Polk T 300 speakers, but only via banana cables. Is this possible with these two items?

The RCA inputs on the AV Receiver WILL NOT work for a turntable.. as the signal being output is entirely different than normal RCA plugs. You need a preamp or other unit to process the turntable's signal into something the AV can use (normally needs to be 'amped up' in order to have a signal which in turn can be amplified to go out to your speakers. I have the frequency out Hz range for turntable somewhere,,, accept for now you cannot plug any RCA out line from a turntable unless you have an amplifier or receiver designed to input a turntable (I use a B&O analog system having cd/cassette/turntable/am-fm to input the turntable, and use RCA out from the B&O to go to AV Receiver if I want to play records through AV 7.1 digital sound system. Also must have an AV receiver which converts the analog signal into digital. or it won't sound right on your speakers (if at all).. davzway

All inputs are either HDMI,phono at line level or optical, there are special phono amps you can purchase for an RIAA curve phono amp to feed into a line level input. To be absolutely straight I would not recommend this unit for anything but amplification in a burger joint or mall because it's not sonically balanced in it's output.

I would assume that any of the free left/right conventional channels could be used for a turntable. You could configure them to change the name of the channel. Try it. I do not think that it will break anything.

Not directly. There are no low-level inputs. You would need a preamp signal to drive this unit.

I would think it is possible but you would probably need a preamplifier. I see no mention of using a turntable in the Denon instruction manual which can be found online. Perhaps answers can be found through Denon tech support.

I have not tried, but I would think it depends if the turntable is already amplified or not. Sorry I can't be more help.

This Receiver, like many others, has a 9-band equalizer that can be accessed thru the setup menu. Not knowing the kind of speakers you have, I assume you want to get a good bass effect, I would jack up the 2 lowest bands to the max, and set the rest of the bands down toward the middle of the volume range, then adjust each one according to your taste. Be aware that in "pushing" the base with any reciever, that more heat is created. This reciever normally tends to run a little "hot", so a tech rep from Denon told me, and as long as you can touch the top of the Denon while it's playing and it doesn't feel excessively hot, then you're OK. What I do, just to be on the safe side, is aim a small fan at the side of the reciever while it's playing and even for a while after it's off. Good luck, and enjoy!

Not a physical control, under the Audyssey listing on a pull up GUI, you can set eq manually via the remotes center dial. Personally the Audessey silver works fine though I did bump up the center channel a little from the recommended setting.

What does is mean by "optical/coaxial digital and HDMI audio sources cannot be output to Zone 2"? I have a component based Denon 7.1 AVR and I can send any audio source to the zone 2 speakers (i.e., DirecTV, DVD, radio, etc.) I don't want to be restricted to what audio sources I can play in Zone 2.

Thanks James. The more I've read that issue related to HDMI has become clear. I like to play zone 1 audio from DirecTV on zone 2 speakers. We can see our family room plasma very well for our patio. Looking at the AVR-X3000. Thanks for your help.

I have zone 1 hooked up to 5.1 surround and zone 2 to stereo speakers on my patio. I don't know about optical/digital coax, but it will not pass the HDMI sources to zone 2. Internet, radio, Pandora, CD are available for zone 2.

I don't have an E400, but I did have a Sony receiver that behaved that way. I have not experienced those same issues with my X2000. Many times I leave it on Pandora, but I can still use the TV without having to turn on the receiver and switch sources (assuming I don't actually want to use the receiver itself).

Yes, but it will let you set a default. My default is set to Cable/Sat, since that is the input that I use the most.

    Q
I use a Denon 2900 to play SACD disks. It is currently connected to pre-out jacks in my Denon 3803 for each channel, and toslink for standard audio. The 2900 has no HDMI. Can it connect to the AVR-X2000? I don't see similar inputs in the back.
    buju3  Dec 05, 2013

    A
This receiver does not have pre-amp inputs for each channel. You would be able to connect the 2900 via the Toslink cable, but that may not be ideal for SACD. I'd recommend contacting an Advisor by phone or chat to discuss receivers. They'll be able to help find a receiver that will work your current gear, and prevent you from loosing functionality.

dose ipod plat through all 7 speakers?
    greg  Dec 02, 2013

There is a setting on the receiver that will allow for this. Multichannel Stereo: Left and right stereo channels are distributed to all the speakers so that stereo sound can be heard from all directions at any listening position.

    Q
dose this have a manual EQ and how many bands?
    greg  Dec 02, 2013
    1 answer
    A
While this receiver mainly relies on Audyssey MultEQ for auto calibration there is a setting in the receiver for manually adjusting the tonal quality for each speaker individually. Using the manual equalizer settings the available bands are; 63 Hz, 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz, and 16 kHz (-20dB to +6dB).
