Overview: The Denon D-M37S
Personal Component System is and ideal choice for a compact music center that
delivers superb musical quality. The unit's built-in CD player features
precision Burr-Brown audiophile D/A converters, and features CD-R and CD-RW disc
playback compatibility, along with MP3/WMA playback capability. The
D-M37S features a front panel USB
connection port for MP3 players or USB drives. The
D-M37S is also equipped with iPod dock
connectivity using the following required iPod docks: ASD-11R/3N/3W (sold
separately). The unit's powerful amplifier section features Denon's simple and
straight circuit design philosophy, and includes a mono output for connecting an
external subwoofer. The system's matching pair of compact loudspeakers feature
double layer inverted cone woofers and soft dome tweeters with extended high
Amplifier: The Denon D-M37S is equipped with a 30 watt x 2-channel
high power amplifier. The unit's circuit board configuration has been designed to
achieve lower impedances.
Simple & Straight Circuit Design: The Denon D-M37S give you high sound
quality based on the "Simple & Straight" concept. Circuitry is uncomplicated,
signal paths are short, and all adverse influences on sound quality have been
minimized. The circuit design and the way the chassis is built ensure the sound
you hear is faithful to the original performance.
Triadic Nose Reduction: In most electronic audio component, various
circuits, boards, and wire layouts can influence each other and cause noise in
your system. Denon eliminates these three sources of noise to ensure that the
sound is as clean as possible.

Smooth Dynamic Sound With Negligible Distortion: Distortion from the
input selector, electronic volume, and power amp has been suppressed to improved
the signal-to-noise ratio and produce an even smoother, dynamic sound.
CD Player: The Denon D-M37S features a front-loading, single-tray CD
player which supports the following Music CDs: CD-A, CD-R, and CD-RW. The D-M37S
also supports playback of MP3 (32-320kbps) and WMA (64-160 kbps) files recorded
on CD-R and CD-RW discs in ISO 9660 level 1. The unit can support a maximum of
512 files + folders (255 files per folder). The unit also supports ID3-Tag
(ver.1x) information so title, artist and album names can be displayed.
Note: This unit supports both 12cm and 8cm CD discs.
CD/MP3/WMA Playback: The Denon D-M37S features Repeat
(Single/All/Folder), Random (All), and Program (up to 25 tracks) playback, as
well as direct track/folder access (using remote control)
Note: Program playback is not possible with MP3/WMA discs.
AM/FM Tuner: The D-M37S features a built-in AM/FM tuner and comes
supplied with an FM wire antenna and AM loop antenna. The built-in AM/FM tuner
supports up to 40 station presets in any combination. You can manually tune your
presets or have the unit automatically (FM only) select your presets using the
area's strongest stations (auto preset is not possible with AM broadcast
stations). You can label each preset station with an 8 character name.
USB Port: The Denon D-M37S is equipped with a front-panel USB port for
easy, direct connection of a USB mass storage device. The front-panel USB port
supports playback of MP3 (32-320 kbps) and WMA (64-192 kbps) audio files
recorded in FAT 16 or FAT 32 onto a USB mass storage device. The unit can
recognize up to 255 folders and 255 files per folder. When a USB device is
connected, playback will start automatically. You can control basic operations
(Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, Repeat, and Random) of your connected

possible to connect and use a computer via the unit's USB port using a USB
Minijack Audio Input: The D-M37S features a front-panel 3.5mm minijack
stereo audio input for connecting an external portable audio source.
iPod Compatible: There is a dedicated 3.5mm control terminal on the
rear-panel of the unit (labeled Dock Control) for connecting an iPod Denon control dock (ASD11RK,
ASD3N, and ASD3W-sold separately) so you can listen to audio from your iPod through the
D-M37S. You will also need to connect the AUX2 stereo input of the unit to the
optional iPod dock. Once an iPod is docked in the separately sold Denon iPod
dock, you can control it using the Denon unit's wireless remote control or from
the iPod's click-wheel/touch-screen. The iPod's battery is also charged when

RCA Analog Inputs/Outputs: The Denon D-M37S is equipped with a two
pair of rear-panel RCA stereo audio inputs and one pair of rear-panel RCA stereo
outputs (AUX 1 and AUX 2) for connecting an external home component audio source
Headphone Output: The D-M37S is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm
headphone output for private listening. Once a headphone is connected, the
system's speakers will automatically mute.
Compact Size: The D-M37S's compact size lets you easily set the system
up on a bookshelf, in a bedroom, or any other room in your home.

Bookshelf Speakers: The D-M37S features a pair of 2-way, 6-ohm
bookshelf speakers (SC-M37) which feature a 4.75" poly-cone woofer with rubber
surround and 1.0" soft-dome
silk tweeter with a frequency response 45Hz to 40kHz inside a bass reflex
enclosure with a rear-firing port (foam port inserts are supplied to seal
cabinet). The speakers can handle up to
60 watts RMS and 120 watts Peak. The D.D.L cone and high definition tweeter with
voice coil ventilation prevents the woofer cone and teeter from swelling when
the air inside heats up and maintains uniform centering of the diaphragm.
Together, with the newly developed crossover network, the speakers reproduce a
smooth and natural sound. Each speaker features binding post speaker terminals to
accommodate audiophile cables and connectors. The speakers feature a black wood veneer
finish and a black cloth removable grille.
Subwoofer Output: The Denon
D-M37S features a mono-RCA subwoofer output for connecting a power subwoofer to
the system for additional bass.
Optimizing Filter: The system's response is optimized for the supplied
Tone Control: The D-M37S feature separate bass and treble tone controls
(-10 to +10dB) for adjusting the tone of the system to your taste.
Super Dynamic Bass:
The Super Dynamic Bass (SDB) circuit produces powerful bass sound even when the
volume of the system is low.
Source Direct: The Source Direct feature is provided for turning off
the tone control and SDB circuitry to make the system's response naturally flat.
(RC-1097): The Denon D-M37S comes supplied with an easy-to-use IR
wireless remote control. The keys of the remove have been laid out so that
various media can be easily played both intuitively and visually. The buttons
for the main operating sequences, such as Play, Skip, Stop, or Volume Up/Down,
have been place near each other for smooth, quick finger operation. The remote
control has an operating range of 23 feet at a 30-degree angle (left or right)
of the unit's front-panel IR eye.
FL Display: The D-M37S features a comprehensive FL display, to easily
indentify source, music tracks, broadcast stations, and 12-hour clock.
Dimmer: The unit's display brightness can be adjusted in four steps:
100%, 7800%, 40%, or Off.
Timer: The Denon D-M37S features a Sleep Timer, Once Timer and
- Everyday Timer: Playback starts (the power turns on) and stops
(the power turns off) at the set times each day. You can select which source
and what volume for the unit's timer playback.

- Sleep Timer: Use this function to automatically switch the power
to the standby mode after as specific amount of time (minutes). The sleep
timer can be set up to 90 minutes, in 10 min increments.
Last Function Memory: This stores the settings as they were
directly before the standby mode was set. When the power is turned back on,
the settings are restored to as they were directly before the standby mode
Power Supply: The D-M37S is powered by standard household AC
current using the supplied 6.5' AC power cord.
Lower Standby Power Consumption: The power consumption of the unit
when in standby is approximately 0.3 watts.
