Does this device support spotify?

Spotify plays on the DNP-720ae just fine--via AirPlay. This is better than integration as you have full control via the Spotify app on your device.
douglas  Jul 23, 2015
A
don't know what spottify is, but if this is the internet receiver, it is too difficult to program. Even Crutghfield advisor could not figure it out. returned it, IF IT IS THE INTERNET RECEIVER.

I returned the unit - it was defective - but as I recall there was no Spotify support.

Jacque: I really can't answer; I no longer have the unit.

A
No. Just Pandora, Napster and Rhapsody.
benjamin  Mar 24, 2014
A
I'm not sure. I use Pandora on it. But the device loses its internet connection frequently, which requires a hard boot. I'm not too happy with it, but there's not many options at this price point if you want third party control integration. Denon hasn't been much help either. If you aren't worried about third party control, then I'd pick another device.

Yes; I use it for Pandora and the sound is excellent.

A
This is a very good product for listening to internet stations. The selection is vast, it works great, and it sounds good. One important point: Do NOT, I repeat NOT, get the firmware upgrade under any circumstances! I usually do get firmware updates for electronics, but when I tried to download and install the update on this Denon, the installation stalled and turned the item into a brick! Crutchfield had to exchange it for a new one - there was no way to fix it. But other than that, I love this product.
john  Dec 23, 2013
A
No Apple here either. The Denon is fine for internet radio, although I don't use it a lot for that. I have been listening to something called "181.fm" lately, mostly for Christmas music, and it sounds real nice. I don't know where it is and I've never checked the bit rate, but it sounds good to me.
james  Dec 22, 2013
A
I bought this in May 2013. It's a high quality internet radio. I love it. No need to hook up laptop to the system. Highly recommended.
jerry  Dec 22, 2013
A
Robert: Having Apple products or any computer has nothing to do with the Denon. It will depend on the download speed of your internet provider. I have TWC Road Runner turbo 20mbps with the router two rooms removed from the denon receiver and have no problems. There are only 3 presets for stations. Pandora is already programed in and does not need a preset. jw
james w  Dec 21, 2013
A
Yes, I listen to loads of Internet Radio using the DNP-720AE. Does not matter if you have Apple products, Internet Radio is separate from Apple / iTunes.
michael  Dec 21, 2013
A
Hi Robert, This is a great unit! If you don't have apple applications, you can still access a variety of internet music sources such as PANDORA. I have it connected to my vintage SANSUI receiver and it sounds great -- Just one thing -- if you are connecting it wirelesly you need a strong wi-fi signal. I ended up having to buy a wi-fi signal extender. Hope this helps! Paulo
paulo f.  Dec 21, 2013
A
Absolutely, all you need is an internet connection, wired or wireless. I use wireless and it works fine provided you have good download speeds. It is a great product and I recommend it highly. It also will notify you when you need to do software updates and it does them automatically.
mark  Dec 20, 2013
A
Yes, it is very good for listening to internet stations. The tuner organizes them by geographic location (ie by city) then you scroll through the list to find the one you want. I've only browsed stations at the receiver since I need to look at the display to choose one. It finds a whole lot of stations, so you'll probably find what you want. I use a wired internet connection and have no bandwidth problems, so I cannot comment on wireless connection. Also, for non-Apple products, any PC with iTunes on your network will also be able to play to the tuner. If you can stand using iTunes, it's a pretty cool feature.
christopher  Dec 20, 2013
A
Robert I don't have any Apple products either. When I first received my Denon DNP-720AE, I unplugged my ethernet cable from my computer and plugged it into the Denon. After a short setup, it played internet stations beautifully. The search and organization was well done, not needing instructions to work my way through. That is not my primary use, but I did all that to make sure it worked.
phillip j  Dec 20, 2013
A
All you need is to connect it to your home computer network with an internet connection and you will get thousands of stations from all over the world
william e.  Dec 20, 2013
A
It's an excellent platform for internet and online listening (e.g. Pandora). My only complaint is that the device periodically looses the wifi connection which requires you to re-establish the connection. Denon does provide firmware upgrades intermittently that helps the user interface experience.
claire  Dec 20, 2013
A
Yes! We have only used the iPod functions a couple of times. We use this for rhapsody primarily, but tuning in stations from around the world has been a great feature during gatherings. Setting this up was effortless and we have had no complaints. One other nice feature is the built in fm/am tuner, works exceptionally well and seems to have a nice range.
thomas  Dec 20, 2013
A
I have not been totally pleased. I mainly use it for apple devices. No experience with internet stations.
gordon  Dec 20, 2013
A
absolutely, in fact I most likely use my Denon-720AE more frequently for internet radio than for iTunes over air-play. The unit also works well with any network media server or network storage drive. Hope this helps.
