A well-built turntable

Treat yourself to warm sound with Denon's well-built DP-300F turntable. Its precision die-cast aluminum platter ensures stable rotation for rock-solid playback. The tonearm features adjustable balance and anti-skating controls for proper tracking. And its sturdy base minimizes the vibrations that can compromise sound quality.

Automatic playback with manual control

Fully automatic operation makes the DP-300F easy to use. With the touch of a button, the tonearm swings over and begins playing your record, returning to its original position when finished. The manual lifter mechanism lets you accurately place the stylus on the record wherever you want without scratching.

Switchable phono preamp for hookup flexibility

DP-300F features a built-in phono preamp that lets you connect the turntable to an ordinary auxiliary input on your receiver or audio system. But if your receiver has a dedicated phono input, and you'd prefer to use it, you can switch off the preamp.

Features

Features

Overview: The DP-300F is a fully automatic turntable that is powered by a DC servo motor with a belt drive system. The turntable is designed to work with dedicated phono inputs and standard line level inputs, so it can be used with almost any receiver or preamp.

Heavy Base Construction: The heavy base construction improves performance by reducing the amount of vibration transmitted through the turntable.

Removable Tonearm Headshell: A removable headshell makes cartridge replacement simple. Allows for any standard mount cartridge between 5 to 10 grams to be mounted and balanced.

Automatic Startup: The automatic startup feature allows the turntable to begin play with the touch of a button. Once play has been completed, the tonearm will return to the armrest, so the stylus and record are not damaged or scratched.

Rigid Diecast Aluminum Turntable: The diecast aluminum platter produces uniform rotation for smooth flutter free operation.

Manual Operation: The turntable includes a manual lifter mechanism that allows you to place the needle on the record wherever you want.

Built-in RIAA Phono Equalizer Preamp: The built-in phono equalizer preamp allows you to connect the turntable to an integrated amp or receiver that does not have a dedicated phono input. This is a feature that can be turned off when using a receiver with a phono input.

Note: The equalizer switch is set to the "ON" position from the factory.

33-1/3 and 45 RPM Compatible: The turntable will play at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm speeds. An adapter is included for playing 45 rpm records.

MM Cartridge Included: The DP-300F comes with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge, so you can  begin to enjoy your record collection as soon as you take it out of the box.

Attached Output Cables: The turntable has a hardwired output cable with left and right male RCA plugs. These can plug directly into your receiver or amplifier. There is no need for additional patch cables.

Controls and Dimensions

Controls:

  • Start Button: Starts playback.
  • Stop Button: Stops playback.
  • Size Button: Set according to size of the record (17/30).

  • Lifter Lever: Manually lifts and lowers arm.
  • Anti-Skating Knob: Set to the same value as the cartridge's stylus pressure.
  • Stylus Pressure Adjustment Ring: The appropriate stylus pressure for the included cartridge is 2.0g. Set to "2".
  • Counterweight: Should be set to the appropriate stylus pressure for the cartridge used.
  • Equalizer Switch: Set to "ON" if receiver does not have a phono input, Set to "OFF" if receiver has a phono input.

Q
What is the best available Denon receiver or amplifier option to pair with this turntable?
steve  Dec 30, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Steve, and thank you for your question. You do not have to use a Denon receiver or amplifier with this turntable, but if you wish to know the best Denon for a 2 channel music set up it would be their PMA-A110 integrated amp.

Q
Lookin for turntable in white?
james  Dec 17, 2022
1 answer
A
This Denon DP-300F is only available in the gloss black finish, James. The Andover Audio SpinDeck MAX in the link below shares the similar automatic playback and does come in the white finish, check it out! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_337SPDKMXW/Andover-Audio-SpinDeck-MAX-White.html

Q
Am I able to upgrade to better quality cables to from the turntable to the amp or are they fixed?
andrew  Nov 19, 2022
1 answer
A
The power and signal cables for the Denon DP-300F are built-in and fixed, Andrew. You cannot upgrade or replace them, sadly. You could consider a slightly larger buy-in for the Pro-Ject Automat A1 in the link below. It's still fully automatic playback, and most notably the increase in quality to the attached RCA cables that are shielded as well as the uprated Ortofon OM10 cartridge, this could avoid the need for any potential cabling upgrade! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_252A1/Pro-Ject-Automat-A1.html

Q
Can I connect Bookshelf speakers directly or Do I need an amplifier?
manoj  Dec 20, 2021
4 answers
A
You can connect bookshelf speakers directly too it but depending on the size of the speakers will determine how loud you can get. The turntable has a built in preamp that can be switched on or off. It will need to be on for non powered speakers.
matthew  Dec 21, 2021
A
I am not an expert but I think you need an amplifier. I use an amplifier and a power amp
marcus l  Dec 20, 2021
A
If they are passive speakers, you will need an integrated amplifier. If they are active speakers, you can connect directly.

I need just the needle for Denon DP-300F Turntable?
bob  Oct 13, 2020

I am not sure if you can just buy the needle itself. I "Upgraded" my stock cartridge with a Sumiko Black Pearl cartridge and have been very happy. It costs less than $100.

The cable for my Denon DP-300F is 42 inches long.
william  Jan 13, 2019
A
I don't know. Mine runs about 5 feet
joseph  Jan 13, 2019
A
I did a Google search and found a blog that said it is 42" in length. That sounds about right to me. It would be difficult for me to measure it as I have in in a cabinet with a sealed back and it's difficult to get it in and out. No reason that you couldn't use a rca extension. I have been very happy with the turntable.
david  Jan 12, 2019

It is about 3ft non-changeable

marcus l  Dec 20, 2021

The cable from the back of the turntable to the end of the RCA jacks is 42" or 3 feet 6 inches. Hope that helps you out... happy vinyl listening to you. I've been well satisfied with this model from Denon.

Q
It seems that I am not able to adjust the Counterweight effectively. The stylus continues to "skate" across the record when done playing?
judy k.  Nov 22, 2017
2 answers
A
The record groove will move the tone arm/stylus to the label. Since it's tracking the groove, it isn't really skating.

can i use this with Sonos
richard  May 07, 2018
A
I haven't had to replace, but I did need to readjust it shortly after I started using the turntable as I noticed a slight drag in the sound. You have to pull the turntable off, but it wasn't easy for me to figure out exactly how to align things to do it. I suggest calling the fabulous tech support at Crutchfield. They walked me through the process over the phone, including by camera to see what I was looking at. Also, you'll need a piece of ribbon to pull it in place.

Q
why is there not a ground wire on this ???
kevin  Jan 24, 2017
3 answers
A
Yes. It has grounded 2 prong plug
oliver richard  Jan 21, 2021
A
I'm not an electrician but I've got some electrician-type experience. Does the two prong plug have one prong bigger than the other? If so, one is hot and the other is return, and the return should be attached to ground at the panel. I agree that it'd be more straightforward if all equipment had a 3rd prong for ground, but for whatever reason a lot of stuff uses the two-size prong method, which will only plug into an outlet one way. I have drills, etc. with two prongs.

Q
What is a good stylus upgrade for this turntable? Thanks
al  Jul 31, 2016
2 answers
A
The Denon DL -110 is an excellent upgrade for this turntable. The stock cartridge is pretty good, I thought it sounded as good as the Sumiko Pearl. The Denon DL -110 is superior, and after about 10 hours of break in the 110 gets very dynamic. Great distinct, not mushy bass, smooth sounds across all of the mid range, no blurring, or blariness, good separation and imaging creating an impressive soundstage, so you can hear the different instruments more distinctly. The DL-110 can be easily mounted, and works with all MM phono inputs.
jon west  Feb 26, 2017
A
I upgraded after a year to the Sumiko Pearl. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the sound quality.

Q
What does "heavy base construction" mean? Is the bottom plastic or metal?
joel  Mar 31, 2016
4 answers
A
The base is very minimal in size in relation to the entire machine, and is plastic, but so structured that it provides a firmness and stability exceeding what one would expect from metal construction. There is never the slightest tremor in play, and the sound surpasses anything I have heard in any audio source, and I have been listening to music for over 60 years. The turntable is astounding, and I could not recommend it too highly.
donald  Apr 04, 2016
A
Basically advertising jargon for heavyweight and well made. Base is metal. Had this unit since 2014 and no issues at all with it.
josh  Apr 01, 2016
A
I'm pretty sure the base is plastic, but it's very solid and well built, The finish is a shiny black and I find it to be very pleasing in appearance. The unit is fairly heavy and does not slide around without an intentional effort.
bryant l.  Apr 01, 2016
A
So, I just lifted it up to look at and judge weight...entire bottom is encased in (smooth) plastic but the overall heft suggests that the plastic encases a metal base....hope that helps
john  Apr 01, 2016
Q
I don't see a switch for the pre-amp. Can it be used on a receiver with a phono input, or must I use an Auxiliary input?
william  Aug 13, 2015
5 answers
A
The answers here are not really precise-they might confuse some people. The preamp switch is underneath the PLATTER...not the "turntable." The turntable is the entire unit itself. The platter is the large metal disc that accommodates the record and 'turns' (rotates). Most people will know this, but newbies might be searching for the switch under the base of the table. Also, more often than not, any decent outboard preamp will sound better than an internal one. The best one for the money is the Pro-ject Tube Box S; you will get lush, rich sound. I would only do this with an upgraded cartridge (2M Red or better) so that you maximize the quality of sound coming from your records. it might seem weird to buy a preamp that costs more than your table, but you can always upgrade your table and keep this preamp. This preamp will even sound good with tables costing thousands of dollars...NO...I don't work for Pro-ject.
tanman  Nov 25, 2016
A
William, Underneath the turntable is a switch which allows you to choose either phono or aux. Just lift the turntable minding the belt drive. Good luck, Mike
michael  Aug 16, 2015
