Mine is all black. I control it all three ways... directly, remote and with the iTunes app. I love it. It's perfect for me for radio stations, MOG and all my iTunes music files.

I purchased this item in black, so I'm unable to respond as to the actual color of the "white" version. The receiver can only be controlled with the remote. We are very pleased with the performance of the received in the three months we have owned it.

Hi peter, can't comment on the color I have black. If your question is can the device be controlled via its IP address - it can but only configuration parameters and not things like volume control, input select, etc - hth

Sorry. There are buttons on top of the unit, but not a complete set as on the remote. (I never use them, so I forgot they were there!) You might want to download the manual before you buy one. Pretty complex device, and there are lots of functions I never use.

Unit is white. Cannot control directly - only by remote or by app. Great unit!

The Denon DR-AN5 is White. It can be completely controlled either Directly (buttons on the unit), by the Remote Control or from an app that runs on iOS device (iPhone, IPad/Pod iTouch) or Android Device. I have not used the iOS controller. The Android controller works quite well both through my cellphone as well as through my Tablet..
