Video D/A Converter: In order
to output a high-quality digital signal with its original purity still
preserved, this unit employs a 12-bit, 54-MHz video D/A converter. This design
improves the reproducibility of extremely minute details so that the picture
viewed on the screen is completely faithful to the original image in both its
colors and high resolution.
Audio D/A Converter:
This unit has dual 192kHz/24-bit Burr Brown digital-to-analog converters.
Digital Audio Output Capabilities: You
can select an LPCM output setting of On or Off. When On is selected and you are
playing a DVD recorded in 96kHz, the signal is down converted to 48kHz/16-bit
before it is passed through the digital outputs. When Off is selected and the
unit is playing a non-copy-protected DVD recorded in 96kHz, a 96kHz/24-bit
signal passes through the digital outputs. If the DVD is copy-protected, the
digital signal is automatically down converted. When multichannel DVD Audio is
played, it is downmixed to 2-channel stereo before being passed by the digital
Note: Multichannel DVD-Audio
is passed through the analog outputs only.
Progressive Scan Output With
Faroudja's DCDi: This unit has a progressive scan output featuring
Faroudja's patented Directional Correlational Deinterlacing (DCDi). This
technology applies new motion adaptive deinterlacing that prevents the
introduction of motion artifacts and jagged edges from video signals that
originated from video cameras (such as with sporting events, live camera feeds
and music videos). The result is a sharper, noise-free picture with finer
details. Video images are displayed with optimum naturalness and color
reproduction with less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than traditional
interlaced scanned pictures.
Digital Bass Management: This
unit has built-in bass management that allows you to adjust the speaker size,
delay time, and channel balance when using the 5.1-channel output.
Multichannel DVD-Audio Playback:
DVD-Audio is a multichannel format used for high resolution audio recording.
This unit can decode and play DVD-Audio discs with a sampling rate up to 192kHz
with a 24-bit word length.
2 MB Buffer Memory: This unit
is equipped with a 2 MB buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are
played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or
in the rare event of a pickup dropout.
MP3/WMA Playback: This unit
will play MP3/WMA files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660
level 1/level 2 or Joliet formats. MP3 files with a compression rate from 32-320
kbps and WMA files with a compression rate from 48-192 kbps are supported. Each
disc can have a maximum of 256 tracks and 255 groups.
JPEG Disc Playback: This unit
will play JPEG files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level
1/level 2 or Joliet formats. JPEG files with a resolution between 32 x 32 and
6300 x 5100 are supported. All JPEG files on a disc can be played back in a
slide show. The slide show has a fixed interval of 5 seconds. During slide show
playback, you can rotate an image 90-degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. In
addition, you have access to the following features: random, program, and repeat
playback. Each disc can have a maximum of 256 images and 255 groups.
Virtual Surround: Virtual
Surround simulates multichannel surround sound using only two speakers. You can
choose one of the following modes: 1 (natural effect), 2 (emphasized effect), or
Picture Zooming: During play,
when you press the Zoom button on the remote control, you can enlarge the
picture by 2x or 4x. You can then use the cursor buttons to move the enlarged
viewing area up, down, to the left, or to the right.
Markers: Up to 10
points on a DVD or CD can be stored in memory and easily recalled. Markers are
automatically cleared when the power is turned off or when the tray is opened.
Resume function allows the player to remember the point where you stopped play.
Playback will resume from the point stored in memory. The stopping point is
cleared if the unit is turned off, the tray is opened, or the stop button is
pressed a second time.
Auto Power-Off: If the unit is
in stop mode for approximately 35 minutes, it will automatically switch to
Dimmer: You can choose from the
following display brightness settings: Bright, Dim, or Auto Dim. In Auto Dim
mode, the display dims only during playback.
Black Level Control: This
feature allows you to make dark portions of the video brighter.
