typical Denon player
Written By

Very nice player. I now have two of these units in different rooms. Video and sound quality is very good. The only problem that I had was the control directions were a bit confusing. This is a multipul disk player. Why has Denon chosen to force one to push the repeat button three times to play all 5 disks? There is no default setting that can be changed. We all must learn to march to the beat of a different drummer on occasion. If I needed another player it would be another one of these units.

Worth It .. Stop Looking

I use my changer as a DVD-AUDIO/SACD player as well as to play standard DVD's. I also own and use a separate Blu-Ray and HD-DVD players. As this unit is not hi def, its picture quality is quite amazing. The up-conversion is flawless. Audio is clean. And for those of you who have experienced the infamous sync issues of the Yamaha players using HDMI to your TV and digital to your receiver, I can assure you this player does not do that. It just works. Look no further; this is your player if you want Denon quality at a reasonable price. Oh, and the DVD-Audio/SACD portion is the ultimate bonus. For those of you who have never experienced true 5.1 hi def sound, you don't know what you're missing!

Perfection at last in a DVD changer
Written By

I went through [2] YAHAMA DVD-C750's before deciding to upgrade to a DENON DVM-2845CI [thanks to CRUTCHFIELD's patience]. The SOUND reproduction is better than I'd hoped and the PICTURE couldn't be better. But equally important is the mechanical reliability. I've tested over [30] DVDs and am so far pleased with the performance of ALL the functions! If any reader is familiar with the dependability of the JVC XV-M555 3 disk changer, the DVM-2845CI equals it. Technically I don't think that there is anything that comes close to the DVM-2845CI! [[DENON REALLY HIT A HOME RUN WITH THIS ONE!]]

DVM-2845CI

For a non-HD/DVD or Blue-Ray player, this Denon model has an excellent picture quality. Older DVD's look brighter, crisper, and have more depth when played through the HDMI connection. My only gripes would be that the carrousel only opens far enough to change two discs when using the "disc-exchange" feature and that the tray only rotates clockwise when changing from disc to disc. Very small complaints to have for the feel of quality that this DVD player gives me. And the player matches up very well when fit in with a black colored rack of components.

Great sound with some peculiar traits
Written By
Bryan, North Carolina on Sunday, January 06, 2008
The sound and picture quality that is output by this player is absolutely great, and I couldn't be happier with that aspect. This is my first foray into DVD-A and SACD and I love it!! But there are some things that bug me about this unit and I thought it might help others to know about them before purchasing. Let it be known, though, that the output from this player (the real reason to buy it) is second to none. Now for the oddities...
1. when plugged into the switched outlet on my Marantz receiver, the unit powers up when turning on the receiver, but then shuts itself down after it initializes
2. to play more than one disc without a stop, you must start playback, then hit the Repeat button three times to repeat all discs. The first two times it is pressed, the display changes; there is no way to know if the third press actually was received by the unit
3. disc loading is very slow compared to the Sony, Pioneer, and Marantz players I have owned in the past
4. the disc exchange function only allows you to change the discs that are accessible when the tray opens -- you cannot reload the whole tray by using the disc skip button without stopping the currently playing disc /
As mentioned, the real meat and potatoes of this player is worth it. Just be aware that there are some features that may be a nuisance.
