Features

Overview: The SmartCord Live provides real-time ticket protection through the Escort Live network. By replacing the power cord of your Escort or Beltronics detector with the SmartCord Live, you can be connected to other radar detector owners on the road through your Apple iPhone or Android smartphone. As you drive, you will receive alerts from others on the Escort Live network that speed traps have been spotted in your immediate area. You can also share your threat reports with others on the network. You'll also have access to Escort's Defender database of verified speed trap, speed camera, and red light camera locations. You will need to download the Escort Live app, and pair your smartphone with SmartCord via Bluetooth, in order to connect to the Escort Live network.

Detector Compatibility: The SmartCord Live is compatible with select Escort and Beltronics Radar Detectors. including the Passport Max, Max2, 9500ix, Redline, and most Passport 8500 X50 models. (If you purchased a Passport 8500 X50 before 2008, you should call Escort customer service for compatibility at 1-800-543-1608.) SmartCord Live is also compatible with the following Beltronics detectors: Pro 500, Pro 300, STiR Plus, STiR Magnum, V10, and V8.

Android and iPhone Compatibility: This SmartCord Live is compatible with select Apple iPhone (running iOS 4.1 or later) and Android smartphones (running OS version 2.2 or later). With either phone, you will need an active Data Plan with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE or WiFi.

Escort Live App: The Escort Live app uses your smartphone to create an extremely useful display and control panel for your Escort or Beltronics detector. It presents all of the information in two driving modes; dashboard mode and map mode. In both modes you get speed limit data for major roads and interstates, plus heading and quick access to live traffic in your area. An over speed limit feature keeps you alert to speed limit changes, plus you get easy access to your detector and application settings. In map mode, you can easily see your relevant position to live alerts and fixed position (cameras) ticket threats, so you can be alert and drive ticket-free. A recent update added Air Patrol zones where speed is enforced by overhead aircraft. The Escort Live app is available from Apple iTunes for iPhones running iOS 6.1 or later, and from Google Play for devices running Android 2.2 and up.

Escort Live: The free version of Escort Live provides real-time Police Spotted speed trap alerts, Mobile/Speed Camera and Red Light Camera alerts, Multi-color speedometer screens, and the ability to share your threat reports in the Escort Live network. You'll also receive automatic reminders for previously marked threats. There are multiple map and dashboard views available on your smartphone through the app.

Escort Live Premium: Escort Live Premium, available by subscription for $4.99 per month (or $49.99 annually), adds the ability to receive real-time radar and laser alerts received by other detector users in the area. You'll receive more detailed threat information, including time-sensitive, heat-mapped color coded warning icons, to help you respond quicker and more safely. Escort Live Premium gives you all of the available GPS-enhanced features, including vehicle speed, posted speed limits, over speed limit alerts, and compass and directional headings.

Controls/Indicators/Connections

Report Button: The SmartCord Live features a Report button for manually reporting to other users a verified X or K-band alert, or a police officer observing traffic.

Mute Button: The Mute button will silence an alert with one press. To lock out or unlock a false alert, you can press the button three times.

Alert Light: The Alert light blinks red when receiving an alert and remains solid orange when receiving a locked-out alert.

Power/BT Light: The Power/BT light glows solid green when the power is On, blinks blue when connected to your phone via Bluetooth, and solid blue when connected to Escort Live.

Power Cord: The SmartCord Live is equipped with a cigarette lighter adapter that connects to your vehicle's lighter/accessory port. The RJ25 modular connector at the end of the 39" coiled cord plugs into your Escort or Beltronics radar detector.

USB Jack: A Type A USB jack is provided for charging your phone. (No cable is included.)

Mini-B USB: A Mini-B USB jack on the side of the barrel allows you to connect to your computer for downloading software updates. No USB A-to-Mini B cable is included.
