The earcups, though small, comfortably covered my ears and closed them off from a good deal of the noise around me. I was impressed by how clean my music sounded coming from the headphones. Since these are portables, I spent most of my time with them listening to lo-res audio files. They sounded pretty good, and I heard a reasonable amount of detail. With higher-quality audio tracks, the sound was (naturally) even better. They may be designed for portable use, but I could definitely use the AKG K 451's for day-to-day listening at work, too.
