Not great

Written by: Jason from San Diego, CA on June 9, 2011

There are an ever increasing number of compact noise reducing travel headphones on the market, and I didn't find these to stack up all that well.

I found these on-the-ear models to be too tight (and it didn't seem like it would be possible to stretch the headband out over time). I had ear fatigue/pain after just a few minutes of wearing them.

The battery case/noise reduction module on the headphone line is also inconvenient.

The noise cancelling/noise isolating capabilities are only average. These headphones do not insulate your ears from outside noise that well - likely owing to the on-the-ear design. The noise cancelling capability was average and leaves a lot of white noise.

On the positive side, the hard case is compact and good for travel, as the headphones fold up pretty small.

I returned these to Crutchfield and will probably shell out the extra dough for the Bose QC3 instead.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound and very comfortable. They are very light and fold down very small so they take up very little room in my breifcase. I ride the train more than fly and the noise cancellation works great on Amtrak and commuter rail. I listen to a wide variety of music including rock, country, classical, etc. and these do an amazing job at producing clean, clear sound; tight base full mid-range and crisp highs. I particularly like the feature that the noise cancellation is contained in a small external module that you can clip to your pocket but the NC can be completely removed and you can use these as regular headphones.

Good but not great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Expected more from a Harman product. The packaging was very with it but the product disappoints. Sound is good but not as good as my old Bose. What was very disappointing was all the plastic, lack of instructions or any literature on how to best employ/enjoy the phones. The band clip appears to be the product of a cost reduction project and does not give one confidence that it will go the distance. The head band is very stiff and difficult to adjust. I am sure it will become easier as I use them. I wear them 5-7 hours a week. The comfort is OK but not great. Don't see myself sitting down to read and using the phones for background music. At full price spend the extra cash for Bose.
