Hear your music exactly as the artist intended

Music producers depend on high-quality headphones to hear music accurately as it's being recorded in the studio. That's why the award-winning producer Quincy Jones relies on AKG studio headphones, like the Q701s. These specially designed 'phones are carefully engineered to present huge, airy, three-dimensional sound from all your tunes. You'll hear the thump of a kick drum, the liquid tone of a clarinet, or a singer's subtle phrasing as if you were sitting at a private concert — just you and your favorite artists.

Quality design that you can hear...

The Q701s use AKG's patented Varimotion technology, which allows for greater motion of the speakers' diaphragms to produce powerful, crystal-clear sound. They also feature flat-wire voice coils to ensure extremely accurate sound with superb transient response. No matter what type of music you listen to, these 'phones will deliver sound that's richly detailed and beautifully balanced from top to bottom.

Flat wire voice coils

Flat, aluminum wire creates a stronger, more uniform magnetic field in the voice coil, enabling the Q701s' diaphragm to reproduce sound that's more accurate and that presents a more realistic soundstage.

Varimotion diaphragms

The Q701s use patented Varimotion diaphragm technology to generate more accurate sound and exceptional transient response by preventing unwanted vibration.

These stylish 'phones sport solid metal arches and an adjustable, genuine-leather headband. The luxuriously padded earcups rest gently around your ears to provide a comfortable fit for hours of listening pleasure. And each pair of Q701s is hand-crafted in AKG's facility in Vienna, Austria by some of their most experienced engineers. The 'phones are then individually tested for quality, calibrated, and stamped with a one-of-a-kind serial number. Would you expect anything less from studio headphones endorsed by Quincy Jones?

A share of the proceeds from these AKG Quincy Jones Signature Line headphones will go to the Quincy Jones Musiq Consortium to support music education.

"These are the only headphones I've heard that bring out the true sound we were striving for on records like 'Billie Jean,' 'Thriller,' and 'Give Me the Night.' It's the best quality sound I've heard, ever."

From the review AKG Quincy Jones Signature Q701 Headphones — Worthy of the Namesake

"The Q701 headphones did a great job with virtually every musical genre I tried. While they were responsive enough to handle hip hop and electronica, the Q701's really did their best with music that was more acoustic in nature. The drivers delivered the highs and lows necessary to color the tones properly, and with a responsiveness that kept everything coming through clear and clean."

Buy Them

Written by: SexieWASD from Bangor, Maine on September 15, 2011

Serj Tankian has a ground loop issue with his vocal mic, you can hear the extra tiny bit of buzz where he cut in the vocal track on elect the dead. If that doesn't say it then I don't know how to.

If you have an amp to use with them, buy them, just like that. They don't sound great without a proper headphone or integrated amp, but with one, step back there's a show going on. They don't punch bass, but they will go exceptionally low very cleanly. "Bass I Love You"'s 7Hz low is able to be perceived. That is low for an open back set with such a huge soundstage. Where they really shine is on acoustic tracks where there are all kinds of little sounds, picks plucking and singers breathing, and feet moving, that just gives you a huge stupid grin.
