Features
Overview: The
kit includes a cradle, mounting bracket, magnetic roof-mount antenna, cassette
adapter, and cigarette lighter power adapter. The SKYFi tuner docks firmly in the cradle, where all power and
antenna connections are made. For the system to work, you'll need a subscription to XM
Satellite Radio in addition to the SKYFi receiver.
XM Satellite Radio: XM
Satellite Radio programming features up to 100 channels of digital-quality
music, news, talk, sports, entertainment, and children's programming nationwide,
many of which are commercial free.
XM Antenna: The
low-profile XM antenna has a powerful magnetic base that allows you to mount the
antenna on the roof or trunk lid of your vehicle. The antenna needs to be
positioned in such a way that it will be free of mechanical and line-of-sight
obstructions.
Note: The antenna
must be mounted on a conductive (metal) surface of at least 2 square feet. A
minimum of 5 inches should be kept between the antenna and the molding of the rear window.
Car Cradle: Using the supplied car cradle mount with attached
adhesive pad, the car cradle can be mounted to any flat surface in your vehicle.
The car cradle mount has a ball joint that allows you to swivel the receiver for
optimum viewing. Using the extra adhesive pad, you can mount the car cradle
directly to your vehicle's dashboard without using the car cradle mount. The car
cradle is also designed to work with many different third-party mounts,
including Belkin air vent style mounts, Nokia-style button mounts, and
AMPS-compatible mounts. In addition, the car cradle can be used with Pro.Fit
International Vehicle Specific Mounts (VSMs).
Remote Control Visor Clip: The
vehicle kit comes with a visor clip to allow you to conveniently keep your
remote control clipped to your sun visor.
Optional RF Modulator: If
you don't have a cassette player in your vehicle, or would like to bypass the
cassette adapter, you have two options. You can connect the cradle directly to
your receiver's auxiliary input (if your receiver has one); or you can order the
optional Delphi FM modulator, which
sends the XM signal directly to your FM tuner (the SKYFi tuner can't be used
with other FM modulators).

Note:
Initially, the cradle and antenna included with this kit included two
connections; one connection was for satellite reception, the other
connection was for signals from terrestrial repeaters. The current version
of this kit includes a cradle and antenna that use a single connection for
satellite and terrestrial signals. The pink connector on the new cradles
will not accept the FAKRA connectors included on the leads of dual
connection antennas. If the FAKRA connector is removed from the satellite
lead of a dual lead antenna, the satellite lead will plug into the included
cradle; although this would allow you to use a dual lead antenna with the
new cradle, reception will suffer because the unit will not receive signals
from terrestrial repeaters.
