What I expected

Written By Dan, North Babylon, NY on Friday, January 08, 2010

I did not see that review before I bought this product. In any case, once i discovered the round connectors, i was not sure if they would work. On my setup the cable worked fine. One end is plugged into my Sony receiver and the other into my high-def set-top box. The sound comes through fine, and even on the dolby 5.1 setting, the sound still sounds good. I compared it to my Monster optical cable, and the sounds quality is comparable (for my use). Don't be frightened by the round connectors though, they are designed to fit into the standard toslink optical port, but they rotate once they've snapped in (actually slightly helpful during setup).

I can't believe Crutchfield sells this product

Written By Normand, Elmer, NJ on Sunday, July 26, 2009

A round peg in a square hole. That is what the arista optical cable is. Optical ports are (mostly) square. This cable has round plugs, it would not stay in the optical ports of 3 different components (Dell TV, Sony BlueRay player and Pioneer amplifier).
