Most speakers don't include speaker wire. Arista's 50- or 100-foot roll of 16-gauge wire offers an affordable solution. Warranty: 90 days.

Arista 16-Gauge Speaker Cable

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

seems to work alright

Pros: didn't have any problems with it

Do Not Buy This Wire

Written By TypicalTuba, San Francisco, CA on Sunday, June 08, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When separating the two wires from one another, the glue that holds them together seems to be too strong and tears the insulation, exposing the copper under one side or the other. The only way I was able to reliably separate these wires was to carefully, meticulously cut them apart 1/8" at a time. I've had all different kinds and qualities of speaker wire over the years, but I've never had such bad cable as this.

Cons: Completely unusable

Good Price, Not So Good Quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The price tag is what broght my attention to this cable but when I attempted to install, it gave all kinds of problems. Everytime I tried to split the pos and neg wires, it tore the whole encapsulation and that was very frustrating. The ends came out too fuzzy after stripping (with professional wire strippers) and it wasn't much fun to get into the opening of the speakers and the amplifier. Price is good but I much rather spend a little more and get easier to work cables.

Pros: Price

Cons: Almost imposible to split. Too fuzzy, making installation a bit frustrating.

Arista 16-Gauge Speaker Wire

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Cost effective way to run longer lengths of speaker wire

Pros: Low cost per foot.

Cons: Insulation does not split neatly when separating leads. If you pull the wires apart instead of cutting them, you'll likely end up with breaks in the insulation and potential shorts. A better quality insulation splits neatly with little effort.

Skip it

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this "16 AWG" wire as an intended upgrade to some 18 AWG speaker wire that I bought at a big box home/hardware store. The conductors inside the arista wire are the same diameter, if not a hair thinner than the 18 AWG wire! The only difference is that the Arista has thicker insulation--which would be a good thing if it weren't almost impossible to pull the wires apart cleanly (even after a good "start"). Also this isn't pure copper.

I ended up buying 14 AWG pure copper wire.

So skip this--either go with the cheap stuff or pay more for the better stuff.

This works fine for our medium powered system. Can't see the need for Monster cable.

Great Speaker Wire

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this with my Onkyo HT-790 HTIB, which comes with pretty cheap speaker wire to say the least. This does the job, just make sure you have a crimping tool

As long as it is used the same way at both ends, it does not matter. One wire is signal (+), the other is ground (-). The big thing is to make sure that (+) on the amp end goes to (+) on the speaker end and the same with (-). [ FRED  May 12, 2014 ]

the copper is the+ [ RONALD  May 07, 2014 ]
It doesn't matter as long as you keep it consistent from the radio head/amp to the speaker itself. [ Jonathan  May 07, 2014 ]
