Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Arista HDMI to DVI Cable by Ralph Graves If you've assembled your audio/video system over the past few years, you may have some components that handle digital video signals with a DVI connection and some that use an HDMI connection. You can hook up those components with Arista's HDMI to DVI cable. It transfers high-resolution digital video images from one device to another, such as from your DVD player to your flat-panel display. This six-foot Arista cable uses two layers of aluminum/Mylar spiral binding to help reject electronic interference that can degrade the signal. Gold-plated contacts on both ends of the cable resist corrosion. The DVI terminal's thumbscrews ensure a solid, secure connection for better signal transfer, as well as providing easy installation and removal. Note: DVI cables and adapters can pass video signals only; you'll need separate cable(s) to carry audio signals. Hands-on research from the Crutchfield Labs (what are the Labs?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Can mfrs. make it any more difficult for consumers? I have a 6 year old Sony 60" LCD/RPTV. It has many component and other inputs including DVI-d. I had a DVD player once upon a time that had DVI-d out. I bought a DVI to DVI cable. The picture looked worse than with component cables. Years pass and I have a newer DVD player (not to mention the BD player I bought with this cable) that has HDMI output. You need HDMI ins and outs to get the best Picture Quality with Blu-ray, 1080p signals and upscaling of DVD's to from 480 to 1080. My TV was designed and built before BD, HDMI or 1080p. Thanks to this cable my DVD's scaled thru a Panny 55 BD player look like blu-ray discs and BD discs look great too. I wasn't even sure this cable would work as the DVI interface was short lived, balky and no one supports it anymore. This cable works like a champ and delivers and great signal for a great picture. If you have need of a HDMI to DVI-d cable, buy this one from Crutchfield without hesitation. And if for some reason it doesn't work with your display, they will take it back and cheerfully refund your money. Remember, you will need audio cables as well because DVI-d does not support audio. Thanks Crutchfield. 12 out of 13 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Along with the optical audio cable I got, I get the home theater experience I've been expecting from my A/V system The only drawback is I would have liked a shorter cable. (Maybe 1 meter.)
