Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

Great box... Bad seal

Written By Civicrunner07, Louisville ky on Monday, February 23, 2009

Great box.. Had 2 10 momo's in a 2006 pontiac grand prix. fit wonderfully and great construction... Spend 3 dollars and 20 minutes and re seal all of the joints. Good product and good price.

Good box for the money

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It seemed sealed up okay. I added some caulking around the terminal cup. The carpet was starting to come off in some spots. Overall I am satisfied with the box. I had it hooked up and running in about an hour and sounds good. I think the price is dead on for the quality. I have 2 Polk 10" momos in it and they sound clean.

Nearly Perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Read the reviews before purchasing and sure enough, I needed to use a hot glue gun to seal it up tight. I went ahead and scraped off the junk that was flaking off and sealed it up where needed and probably where it wasn't needed just to be sure.

My subs sound great in this box and the box is well worth it if you don't mind 10 minutes of work to seal it yourself.

4/5 given due to the 10 minute seal job.

Other reviews spot on about the glue

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just received this box and had read the other reviews here and the problems reported regarding the glue / caulk. Sure enough the glue was very dry and has begun to flake. I can see at least one corner where the box may no longer be air-tight.

Don't get me wrong. Its a great box but take the others and my advise. Scrape off the excess glue inside and reseal them before mounting the subs.

Sounds great but...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound is great...but I had to seal all the joints with caulk becuase there was not enough used in the making of the box. Also I was disapointed that these boxes are made in China and not America. I installed two Rockford Fosgate Punch P1S410. I installed some batting in the box to give it a deeper thump. I installed this item in a 2003 Montana facing the rear of the vehicle.

Decent box

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a pretty decent box, It sounds good. I have two rockford 10" stage 2 subs mounted into it. The bass is sharp and the box doesn't seem to make much noise form vibrations. The box is pretty solid, but I am a little concerned about the caulking job on the seams. They looked like they were starting to crack, but so far its not leaking air. I have only had this box for a couple weeks, so we will see how it holds up.

Hard hitting and Tight !!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I will start off by saying this is a nice sealed enclosure, my only disatisfaction was after mounting one of the Alpine 10" type R Subs air was leaking into the second chamber, so instaed of packing it up and shipping back for a replacement I got out the Hot Glue gun and re-ran all seams, Wire Terminal's. Now its air tight ! I am running Alpine MRP 650's 600 watts RMS to each Sub and WOW !! talk about HIT. I wanted tremendous Sound Presure and Sonic Impact from the Apline 10 R's and this enclosure made me happy. I also packed the enclosure with Polyfill to enhance the Sonic output and subdue the Audible Cabinet tones of the Sub's, Sound/Bass Presure is the goal for me. This setup was installed in a 2003 Grand Marqius, Trunk Rear Firing. The sound is BIG and Powerful, One Sub was good but Two Subs.... now your talking !!!

Hardware Included, screws, wire.
Small footprint.
Great match for Alpine 10" type R Subs.

Mine Leaked before sealing it myself.

Spring Clips: Two sets of spring clip speaker terminals, located on the back side of the enclosure, will accept bare wire or pin connectors. The enclosure is equipped with two 15" lengths of 16-gauge speaker wire, pre-soldered internally to the spring clips, for connecting the woofer to the inside terminals.
