Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the MB Quart PWE 304 by Ken Nail What's a component sub and why would I want one? A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back. The PWE 304 12" subwoofer offers the exceptional performance you'd expect from an MB Quart Premium Series speaker. Its sturdy cast alloy frame suppresses resonances that can distort your bass. And a special-design dustcap strengthens and stiffens the treated-paper cone, so it holds its shape when you crank the volume. The durable Santoprene rubber surround attaches to the bottom of the cone for enhanced excursion and a clean look. And you can wire up this 12" speaker as either an 8-ohm or 2-ohm sub, so you'll have plenty of options when building your system. MB Quart has created a subwoofer that handles plenty of power and produces deep, clean bass. Features Specifications Features Woofer Construction: This MB Quart Premium Series woofer is equipped with a treated paper diaphragm with an inverted parabolic polypropylene dust cap and a Santoprene synthetic rubber, inverted roll surround. Basket: The PWE 304's motor structure is supported by a high-strength, non-resonant cast alloy basket. Kapton Voice Coil Former: Kapton is a highly temperature-resistant, completely non-magnetic plastic foil. Because it has no affect on the magnetic field, the woofer provides more precise, distortion-free music reproduction. Speaker Terminals: This dual-voice-coil subwoofer has a unique speaker terminal which can accept up to 10-gauge wire. The one-piece terminal block holds the speaker wire in place using set screws (2mm Allen wrench supplied). A plastic cover protects the terminal strip from unwanted contact. Wiring: The woofer can be connected in the following ways: Standard: You can connect the woofer to two separate amplifier channels, and each channel will see a 4-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, +2, -1, and -2 terminals. Parallel: You can connect the woofer to a single amplifier channel which will see a 2-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, and -2 terminals. Two supplied short terminal jumpers are attached to the terminal block to link together the two positive terminals and the two negative terminals. Series: You can connect the woofer to a single amplifier channel which will see an 8-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, and -2 terminals. The supplied long terminal jumper is attached to the terminal block to link together the +2 and -1 terminals. Logo Badge: The self-adhesive MB Quart Premium Logo badge can be mounted on the top of the screw cover ring in either direction. Specifications Enclosure Recommendation: MB Quart recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.0 cu.ft. for this woofer. Mounting Recommendations: The PWE 304 can only be top-mounted into the enclosure. The supplied self-adhesive rubber gasket should be placed on the woofer to ensure a tight seal. No mounting hardware is included, however, MB Quart recommends M5 hex-head screws and lock nuts. After installation, the supplied screw cover ring can be fitted to the woofer's outer ring for a custom look. Miscellaneous Specs: Power Handling: 600 watts RMS (300 watts per voice coil) Mounting Height: 0.224" without cover ring, 0.522" with ring installed Product Reviews Review Summary Average Customer Review: 6 people say: 5 Star: (5) 4 Star: (0) 3 Star: (0) 2 Star: (0) 1 Star: (1) Review this product Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences about this product. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I purchased this speaker w/ the MB Quart RAA2400 as a bass package. The 304 is in a Q Logic QLH-1.0012SS 1 cf. box, which is pretty small. I still have trunk space. The bass is clean and tight, but w/ the rear seat up, some of the bass gets abosorbed. The 304 has to be wired in series w/brings up the resistance to 8 ohms which I think is the reason the bass isn't very loud. The amp bridge w/only put out 400w into 8 ohms and it's only stable down to 4 ohms. I should've gotten the 302 which I thing would be louder. But I will be ordering another 304 for more bass! Those w/hatchback cars and SUV's, the single 304 will do. Those w/ sedans, I would recommend getting the 302 if your amp is only stable to 4 ohms bridge or run two 304's. Was this review helpful?
