MB Quart

Our take on the MB Quart PWE 352

Got enough juice? Get an amp for your new sub The PWE 352 15" subwoofer offers the exceptional performance you'd expect from an MB Quart Premium Series speaker. Its sturdy cast alloy frame suppresses resonances that can distort your bass. And a special-design dustcap strengthens and stiffens the treated-paper cone, so it holds its shape when you crank the volume.

The durable Santoprene rubber surround attaches to the bottom of the cone for enhanced excursion and a clean look. And you can wire up this 15" speaker as either a 4-ohm or 1-ohm sub, so you'll have plenty of options when building your system. MB Quart has created a subwoofer that handles plenty of power and produces deep, clean bass.

Specifications

Features

Woofer Construction: This MB Quart Premium Series woofer is equipped with a treated paper diaphragm with an inverted parabolic polypropylene dust cap and a Santoprene synthetic rubber, inverted roll surround.

Basket: The PWE 352's motor structure is supported by a high-strength, non-resonant cast alloy basket.

Kapton Voice Coil Former: Kapton is a highly temperature-resistant, completely non-magnetic plastic foil. Because it has no affect on the magnetic field, the woofer provides more precise, distortion-free music reproduction.

Speaker Terminals: This dual-voice-coil subwoofer has a unique speaker terminal which can accept up to 10-gauge wire. The one-piece terminal block holds the speaker wire in place using set screws (2mm Allen wrench supplied). A plastic cover protects the terminal strip from unwanted contact.

Wiring: The woofer can be connected in the following ways:

  • Standard: You can connect the woofer to two separate amplifier channels, and each channel will see a 2-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, +2, -1, and -2 terminals.
  • Parallel: You can connect the woofer to a single amplifier channel which will see a 1-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, and -2 terminals. Two supplied short terminal jumpers are attached to the terminal block to link together the two positive terminals and the two negative terminals. Note: Please be sure the amplifier is capable of handling a 1-ohm load before connecting the woofer.
  • Series: You can connect the woofer to a single amplifier channel which will see a 4-ohm load. Connections are made to the woofer's +1, and -2 terminals. The supplied long terminal jumper is attached to the terminal block to link together the +2 and -1 terminals.

Logo Badge: The self-adhesive MB Quart Premium Logo badge can be mounted on the top of the screw cover ring in either direction.

Specifications

Enclosure Recommendation: MB Quart recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.5 cu.ft. for this woofer.

Mounting Recommendations: The PWE 352 can only be top-mounted into the enclosure. The supplied self-adhesive rubber gasket should be placed on the woofer to ensure a tight seal. No mounting hardware is included, however, MB Quart recommends M5 hex-head screws and lock nuts. After installation, the supplied screw cover ring can be fitted to the woofer's outer ring for a custom look.

Miscellaneous Specs:

  • Power Handling: 800 watts RMS (400 watts per voice coil)
  • Mounting Height: 0.323" without cover ring, 0.602" with ring installed

tight

Written By Wilfred, Hackettstown, NJ on Friday, July 29, 2005

I bought this with the RAA2400 amp. Have it set at 4 ohms getting 800W RMS in a sealed box. I'm using the front end defeat on the amp, so no gain is used or crossover, just the one on the head unit. and this thing sounds great, really tight and clear bass, even at loud volumes it will not fade away. Very good. I could turn it up to move everything around.

Kennedy

Written By Kennedy, Evergreen, AL on Saturday, June 25, 2005

Man, this thing quakes!!!! I recently purchased this monster and man, I am glad I did. I only have it running on 400 rms, and I can hardly breathe when it is turned up half way! The bass is heavy and clear with perfect reproduction. For the price, it is too good to pass up. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for high quality sound for a very low price. All I can say is that if you get it, be prepared for earth-shaking, window vibrating, stomach churning bass!!!

Loud

Written By BRENDA, Iowa on Saturday, June 18, 2005

I don't even know where to start... I bought two of these and have them wired 2geather at 2 ohms hooked up to a kenwood 1600watt amp which is only half of the power to their rated... and WOW!!! These things are earthquaking! I have them in a duel chambered sealed box and i have the fade all at half way front and the bass all the way down and they still are twice as loud as my 3 kicker comp Vrs!!! This subs are at a great price they sound like a 15inch L7 that was fully powered! I'd recommend these for even full price!! It's a great deal

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
