The Reference Series RAA4200 amplifier from MB Quart delivers the high-end performance and reliability you need for a serious audio system. Housed in a sleek, low-profile black chassis, this 4-channel powerhouse produces plenty of power to drive your subwoofers or speakers. Its convenient top-mounted controls make tweaking the output a snap, while removable end caps hide all of the wiring for a professional-looking installation.

Use the built-in low- and high-pass filters to get the best sound out of your system. If you're using an outboard preamp or crossover, you can bypass the amp's built-in gain and crossover controls for a cleaner sound. You also get a set of preamp inputs and outputs for tapping into your other audio components — flexibility that means this amp can be incorporated into just about any system.

Separate LED indicators warn of distortion in either the front or rear channels. And all Reference Series amplifiers are exactly the same size, so your MB Quart multi-amp setup will look perfect.

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

The Perfect 4 Channel Amplifier

Written by: Duff from Berlin, MD on May 31, 2005

This 4 channel MB QUART 4200 amplifier is a great amplifier indeed. This amplifier is one of the best amplifiers I have yet come to purchase. My first amplifier was an Alpine, they are pretty good, but the MB QUART is even better. This MB QUART 4200 series amp is pushing my 6 1/2" Polk DB Component system, along with two 5 3/4" Polk DB speakers in the reaer doors. The amplifier is so powerful that I couldn't even turn the gain half way up, this amp is a good amp for the price. I want to get a MB QUART 2400 series amp just to have it in case I want a pair of subwoofers in the back. For the price I prefer you to even load up to on this.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave this a 4 just because I've never really had anything else to compare to. This amp is powering my polk db 6500 series components up front and one 12" polk db 124 sub in the back(bridged). I always wanted a sytem with overall balance in the lows and highs and this amp does that. I am listening to metal in a whole new way, so much clarity and the right amount bass to blend with it. I also tested it out with some rap/hip hop, it also gets the job done. Hell of an amp for the price.

A/D/S replacement!

Written by: CK from Kirkland, WA on May 22, 2005

Ive been into car audio for almost 20 years now and have used my fair share of low to high end gear. Out of all the amps Ive used I have always favored my out dated 15 year old A/D/S PQ series. I've tried everything from the newer A/D/S to Xtant with no luck. The sound quality just wasnt the same. Then I saw the MB Quart RAA4200 on clearance and thought what the heck for the price and told my wife I wanted it as an early fathers day gift!

My first impression when I took it out of the box was man this amp is big! Not to mention fairly heavy. But the build and quality of this gem does shine.

Installation was a breeze with its quick disconnect type connections. Tuning it is even easier since all of the controls are right on top.

Sound quality is excellent! I could hardly believe my ears. This is probably one of the cleanest amps Ive ever heard. I listen to variety of music everything from Jazz, alternative, Hip Hop and a little classical. So I loaded up my 6 disc changer with a variety and listened to about 30 seconds of each song from each CD and this amp was very impressive!

My system consist of A/D/S components, plates and Single 12 inch sub. So Im not really into heavy bass just balanced sound quality. But what this amp did for my 12" sub was pretty incredible.

So overall I rate it a 4 only because its a little to big for my liking. But as far as sound quality this amp is a 5. Ill probably purchase the MB Quart 2 channel or Mono amp to match this so I can take my 12 off of it and dedicate it as a "Highs" amp only. But you could just bridge this into 2 channels to run a couple subs with no disappointments but that would be a waste!
