How about furniture-grade speaker stands that are not only stylish, but can actually help improve your speakers' performance? Sanus' Basic Foundations® stands give you all that in an affordable package!

Basic Foundation stands are made with sturdy MDF (the same material used in many quality speaker cabinets) to resist unwanted resonance. Their twin contoured pillar design offers rock-steady support. Speaker wires run down a groove between the pillars — a snap-in black cover completely conceals the wires from sight, leaving just the clean lines of the stand. The stands come with triangular isolation pads for the top plate, to protect the speaker's finish, and provide additional resonance damping.

Product Highlights:

  • stand height: 24"
  • top plate measures 6-1/2" x 6-1/2"
  • base plate measures 11-5/16" x 9-1/2"
  • supports 20 lbs.
  • floor spikes to help minimize vibrations
  • warranty: 5 years

Assembled very quickly, excellent quality for the price.

Pros: Clean looking.

Cons: Stands are used on carpet with supplied spikes, foot pads are not supplied for hardwood floor, this might be an issue for other users.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Sanus BF24B 24" stands are the perfect height for bookshelf speakers. It levels the speakers near ear level, when sitting down for listening. I'm very happy I ordered these, they go perfect with my Klipsch RB-61 II's ! At first, when unpacking the stands to put together, they looked kind've cheap... but once put together, and the speakers placed on, they look great! So now I don't regret my purchase. The best thing about these stands, in my case, is that they're made of MDF wood, so no issues with corrosion, since ! live right in front of the beach. Also, you can't find anything better for what Crutchfield is asking in price! Crutchfield, you guys are the best!

Pros: Perfect ear level placement for bookshelf speakers Includes little stubs to isolate the speaker from the stands Great price!

Cons: none

As a replacement for my old wooden speaker stands, this pair of Sanus stands were a perfect option. They fell pretty sturdy and solid, have a cable management feature, the finish looks good, and provide a safe option for bookshelf speakers. Plus, being very easy to assemble makes them a great option for any home audio enthusiast. And the price can't be beat!

Pros: Great looks, nice matte finish, appropriate height, ease of assembly.

Cons: None.

This is the perfect stand for bookshelf speakers. I have a set of Klipsch RB600s sitting on them. At first I thought the speakers would be top heavy. However, when you add the carpet spikes on the bottom of the stands, they became very stable and can handle the Klipsch with no problems.

Pros: Cost effective and stable. Nice finish compliment the Klipsch black finish

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the 24in black Sanus stand. It's very nice. I use it with black Polk A3 speakers. Together, it's very sharp looking and stable. The angles on the stand's legs give it a stylish look and complement the curve of the Polk A3s. And 24in put the speakers at a very good height for sitting or standing listening. The hidden space up the legs to hide the speaker cable works well. The little non-slip bumpers on the speaker plate hold the speaker very stably. Note that the taller the Sanus model, the smaller the plate that the speaker sits on. For 24in, I thought the Polk's might not be stable but they were fine. But I'd be leary of going to 30in stands for this particular size speaker. The stands come packaged in a long flat box (assembly required of course), but Crutchfield sends it in a gargantuan box! It's an awkward size to ship I guess!

Pros: stylish, good height, stable

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I didn't have a lot of money to spend for speakers AND stands, and these are a steal for the money. Pretty easy to assemble (and I'm terrible at putting things together!), they look nice, and support my Def Tech SM45s with ease. No, they are not high gloss, fancy stands, and aren't meant to be. They do the job well... I appreciate the plastic spikes for carpet placement- Not as sharp as metal ones, and work very well. Thank you, Crutchfield!

Pros: Nice looking basic, sturdy stands, and very affordable. They do what they are intended to do.

Cons: None.

They are what they are: speaker stands

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm a relatively poor college student putting together my first stereo, so I didn't need any expensive stands to hold up my speakers. My room isn't acoustically treated or anything like that, so minimal vibrations won't really affect my sound quality all that much. That all being said, I was in the market for some cheaper stands that would just hold some speakers well. These were the stands recommended by NHT for their SuperZeroes (my speakers) so I went with them. They were a little tricky to put together as the screw holes on the bases weren't properly aligned, but I was able to make it work. The speaker cable hole on the part where the speakers sit is incredibly small and is in the center of the base, so I am not using it. Overall I have no real complaints.

Pros: They do what they say they do: hold speakers. They also look okay while they do it.

Cons: Tricky to put together, cheap build quality, speaker cable hole is too small.

These stands are the perfect choice for our home. The height is perfect and they are nice and sturdy as well. Setting up these stands was very simple. Took a little longer than expected due to the screws not going in too smoothly. The stands look really nice and the final product will not disappoint.

Pros: Easy set up. Sturdy foundation. Great look.

Cons: Screws do not go in as smoothly as one might expect.

I was looking for some speaker stands that stand about as tall as a living room chair. These stands are the perfect height.

Pros: Easy to assemble. The drill holes for the screws are nicely finished. Printed instructions are straight forward and clear.

Cons: Screw alignments require some movement to align the screws for tightening.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These made a significant improvement in my system. I am using a Pro-ject Expression 2.0 table with a Grado Green cartridge, a Carver CT23 Preamp, a Parasound HC750 amp, Sewell Silverback speaker cords, Db link interconnects, and Paradigm Triton V3 speakers. I can't understand] why they call them "bookshelf" speakers when they are clearly hi-fi quality. These stands made that apparent. Definitely increased the depth of the stereo imaging and intensified the low end. These stands and moving the speakers out into the room really allowed the high end to attain a lofty image and helped the vocal transparency. This is likely the best "upgrade" I have ever made for this amount of money! I recommend for anyone on a budget trying to attain the best possible sound from their system. They look good and are solid and sturdy. The plastic spikes are adequate for carpet. They are much more stable than I expected and even with 3 kids I am not really fearing them being knocked over. Take care putting them together and use a screwdriver and do it by hand so you don't strip the MDF with a power driver.

Pros: Cost, build, sound improvements

Cons: Plastic spikes could easily be replaced with metal.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this product on 12/24/2013 and received it within 7 days. But when I opened up the package, the hardware was missing. I thought this wasn't a big deal, and called Crutchfield about replacement hardware. I was then instructed to call Sanus, and told it would be faster to work with them directly. Again, I thought no big deal and contacted Sanus for the missing hardware. Sanus said they would send the parts within 7 days. Fast forward to 1/13/2014, I still don't have the hardware...

The wood seems decent, and the price is right, but I have an unusable product. I would have really liked to give this product a better rating, but lack of hardware and follow through with Sanus has forced me to give a negative review.

Pros: none

Cons: the unused product sitting in the box is taking up space next to my couch, my speakers feel lonely and vertically challenged

Excellent Value / Better than price suggests

Written by: K & R Tech from Nebraska City, NE on January 6, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these based on the price. The material is pressboard, with a black textured finish. I didn't expect top notch quality - but these certainly don't look like $50 stands to me (they look better than that).

Other reviews complained about the screws splitting the wood - I don't see how that is possible, since the legs are pre-drilled. Either the holes didn't exist, or the stand was assembled wrong. I suggest starting all four screws (on either the top or the bottom) in the holes, and then tightening from there.

In addition, I couldn't find the length I wanted, so I compromised with this one. I wanted a 28" - which isn't made. Now that I've seen one in person, I wish I would have bought the 31" - because I see that I could have chopped off each leg three inches, replicated the pre-drilled holes, sprayed the newly exposed wood with black spray paint, and had the 28" height I wanted. So - if you want a custom length, and are a little handy - buy a taller set.

Another review indicated that the screws are not recessed - but they are. As received, holes are countersunk on one side only - so that the screws will be recessed. If you put the stand together wrong, yes the screws will not be recessed.

Pros: Price and finish quality. They may be the cheapest stands you can buy, but they don't look it.

Cons: The speaker base hole is small - and the speaker base pads are thin. Go to a lumber or hardware store and buy cabinet door/drawer bumpers - they are thicker. As received, the pad thickness limits cable size quite a bit, but the fix is easy and cheap. Still well worth the money. If you're using 16/18 gauge wire, you'll be fine as is.

Work,, but not well designed.

Written by: JimS from Marion, MA on January 4, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These stands work, but barely. The uprights split in two places during assembly, but they still manage to hold up the speakers. Why not change the pilot hole size? (I contacted Sanus two weeks ago for replacement uprights and was told I would have them in a week. It is now two weeks and waiting, so I will likely fix them myself.) Also, why not change the speaker wire hole size on the upper platform so the wire can pass through? I will drill a larger hole than presently exists. I have also replaced the carpet spikes with self stick feet that prevent movement. (The stands are on a hard floor). Will also replace the foam speaker supports on the upper platform so the cable can run up the channel, under the speaker and then connect to the speaker. But why not make these simple no-brainer fixes at the factory? I am afraid I cannot recommend this product.

Pros: Work to hold up speakers.

Cons: Too many silly things have been left undone in manufacture.

These speaker stands are a good value. Price was important to me when I picked these speaker stands. I wanted stands that look nice at a good price. These stands fit the bill. They are easy to assemble and look good. I am happy with the look and the price.

The only con is that the back cover does not completely cover the back of the stands, and it shows roughly 1 inch of the speaker wire. I positioned the cover so there is about ½ inch at the top and ½ inch at the bottom. My wife usually notices something like that but she said it looks fine.

Pros: Good Price. Easy to assemble. Looks good.

Cons: Back cover does not completely cover the back of the stands

Written by: David from Tucson, AZ on January 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They are nice stands. However, this is one of those products that I believe the employees at Sanus, and its' parent company, don't actually use in their homes. The teeny, tiny speaker "pads" are only a couple of centimeters larger than being completely embarrassing. But, from a marketing standpoint, I can almost see why they are included. And then, we have; "The Hole". The is the hole on the top plate/whatever, almost in the center, where the speaker wire comes up and thru. I'm assuming no larger than 18 gauge. In the center? Where the speaker sits? On those teeny, tiny "pads"? I think NOT! What are they thinking? Overall, I like them. And they look and work very nice. Just forget about "The Hole" and buy some actual pads at your local supermarket.

Pros: Look nice. Work nice. Up to 20 pound speakers.

Cons: Teeny, tiny speaker "pads". The center, top wire hole.

The stands are pure junk unbefitting Crutchfields' reputation. The support column holes don't line up properly and as a consequence, the screws crack the room. The supplied spikes for the base of the stand are cheap plastic and most don't fit properly, and must be hammered in.

Pros: Stands can be returned for full refund

Cons: Poor quality, cheap accessories parts, Screws (that attached top plate to columns) are NOT RECESSED) and protrude about 1/16 of an inch above plate and would scratch the bottoms of speakers

Written by: AlexW from Monroe, NJ on November 3, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Sanus BF24B speaker stands look great and do the job quite well. However, the pillars that attach the base to the top part are made of some kind of pressed wood and when the screws are installed the pillars tend to split and crack. I was very careful about installing the screws as I had read previous reviews with the same problem. Still (3) pillars split/cracked when I installed the screws. Sanus replaced the pillars for me but upon trying the second time (2) pillars split again. The pillars are just too thin for the screws. You might want to get something with a different design or a thicker pillar.

Pros: Perfect height for my rear speakers and looks great. Sturdy enough.

Cons: The pillars are not made well. They are made of pressed wood and tend to split when installing the screws

Solid, but not attractive

Written by: AbbyK from Corning, NY on July 24, 2011

I bought them for some black Klipsch speakers I had just bought. They are solid, hold the speakers well, and are priced right. The appearance, however, is more appropriate for a college room or very informal den than a living room or nicer home theater room. I ended up putting these in the attic unti l can find a user, and bought the Sanus NF24s from Crutchfield instead. They are much higher-end looking (appropriate for the price). If you can swing the extra money and aesthetics matter, get the NF24s. See my caveat in its review section.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These have got to be the WORST speaker stands I've ever purchased. Made of thin pressed wood, two of the four pedastals arived already cracked. I had to wood glue them back together before assembly.

The platforms and bases are also made of thin, low quality pressed board - I had to touch up the bare spots with a black sharpie. The feet are not even metal - they're PLASTIC. They're also incredibly light weight. Sanus' other stands are great, high quality metal deals but these are NOT.

If you value QUALITY at all, do NOT buy these - save your $ for something better. At this low price I did not expect very much, and these are far, far worse than I expected.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'd had my front left and right speakers sitting on the floor for over a year - they sounded pretty good down there, how much of a difference could it make? Well, after making numerous small improvements to my home theater after the purchase of my new plasma TV, I decided to give the stands a trial run and see if they made a difference. When these stands arrived I quickly assembled them and fired up an episode of Battlestar Galactica. I could immediately hear the difference! Everything - movies, TV, music - sounds much clearer with the speakers at ear level.

As for the stands themselves, I am very impressed with them for the price. Assembly was very easy requiring only a #2 Philips screwdriver. All the pieces fit together well. The stands are remarkably stable with the carpet spikes and I have no fear of them tipping over, even with my heavyish speakers on top of them.

All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, and I have been unable to find anything comparable at this price. If you are looking for a good, solid, and inexpensive set of speaker stands, look no further than this set.
