Sanus cooling fans

Written By Brian, Graham, WA on Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this Sanus cooling fan when I ordered my new Denon AVR1911 receiver. I have a closed in A/V TV stand and I wanted something to keep my new Denon from overheating. I looked at the NILES unit that sits on top of the receiver, but it was too expensive after already buying the receiver. The guy I spoke with at Crutchfield recommended this Sanus. I asked how loud it was, and he said it was pretty quiet.

When it arrived, I cut a 17"x5" hole in the back of my cabinet to install the Sanus and it worked great keeping my receiver cool. Unfortunately, this Sanus fan unit is very LOUD for use with an A/V home theater system. It was too unbearable to use, so I returned it the next day.

The Sanus unit is designed for use as a cooling fan for computer server cabinets. It would work great for an A/V system if you had it in a closet or some kind of space away from where you are acutally listening or viewing your home theater system.

Sadly, it would not work for me. I just wish the Crutchfield representative had been more knowledgeable in my application and we could have saved some time and trouble.
