About the Sanus CFR2127

If you have a sizeable audio/video component system, then the Sanus CFR2127 component rack was made for you. This metal cabinet securely holds your gear, and has enough space to run all your cables inside it.

If you have a sizeable audio/video component system, then the Sanus CFR2127 component rack was made for you. This metal cabinet securely holds your gear, and has enough space to run all your cables inside it.

Sturdy casters make it easy to move, and each shelf is backstopped so your components sit securely during repositioning. Quick-release removable side and back panels give you access to your components.

Rack-mount or shelve your gear

The CFR2127 can accommodate up to twenty-seven 1-3/4"-tall rack-mounted components. Or you can use the included shelving to store up to 13 larger components. You also get rack face plates, so you can fill in empty gaps between rack-mounted of shelved components for a cleaner look.

Easy cable connections

Space behind the shelves lets you run connecting cables between your components. And a three-rack panel that can be attached to either the top or the bottom of the rack's rear gives you options for running wire out of the cabinet.

Industrial-strength construction

The beefy CFR2127 can support up to 750 lbs. of electronic gear. Welded heavy-gauge steel construction makes it durable and strong, and a locking tempered glass door gives you added security. Drop-down legs provide stable support, and they're adjustable, so you can ensure your gear stays level.

Ventilation to keep components cool

Integrated vents along the edges and air holes in the back panel keep air circulating. The cabinet also features cooling shelves on both the top and bottom of the rack for improved airflow. In addition, every shelf also has ventilation slots to help keep the temperature down.

Q
I have only 3 components...turntable, cd player, and amplifier. Can shelving be configured such that with all 3 items in unit, albums can be easily placed on turntable? Thanks!!

Greetings Glenn. Thank you for your question. What would be nice is to have a sliding shelf, but unfortunately Sanus does not offer one at this time. What you can do is remove a rack or two, and have the top rack mounted a bit lower so you have more room to maneuver your precious vinyl.

What would the best way be to clean this product?

I have a similar Sanus rack for my studio equipment Isaac, and I use the Austere V Series Clean & Protect in the link below. While designed for Tv and device screens, the Clean & Protect works equally well on all electronic devices without using harsh chemicals. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_272CLEAN5/Austere-V-Series-Clean-Protect.html

I am looking at getting this stand, however the shelf width concerns me. Does anyone know if a Marantz SR8012 will fit into this without using a shoehorn?
john  Nov 24, 2022
1 answer
A
The Marantz SR8012 is 17.375" wide. The width of the shelves in this cabinet is 17.4". The SR8012 would fit, but it would be snug. However, this isn't uncommon for AVR units situated in equipment racks.

Is there any way i can hold two 80lb each audio amplifiers and my gear on this thing?

James. I bought the heavier shelves and used them to mount a denon amp that about 60 lbs and a pioneer amp that is about 80 in this cabinet and a bunch of other gear without and problems. I also bought the fan assembly's for cooling. Filled my rack though
ron  Jul 20, 2021

James, per the Sanus web site, the CFR2127 comes with four 2U shelves with a 50lb weight capacity for each shelf. I have three Emotiva amps in my rack, two XPA3's and one XPA5, as well as a Marantz processor, but none of them weigh more than 50lb.
jeffrey  Jul 20, 2021
A
Put their heaviest amps on the bottom of the rack***
steve  Jul 20, 2021
A
Yep. Most people put the heaviest equipment (which are typically amplifiers). My amp is only about 55 pounds but it holds in place no problem and the full weight of equipment in my rack is close to 300 pounds and there are no problems.

Q
How much space is there between the front rack and the glass door (when closed)? I have rack mounted equipment with XLR connections on the front. There would need to be enough space for the connections protruding from the face of the equipment.
derek  Feb 08, 2020
5 answers
A
There is about 1 1/2 inch between the components and the glass.
wilbert  Feb 27, 2020
A
The racks allow you to adjust a fair amount. Mine are configured for 2 1/4 " from the rack to the glass. This is not QUITE enough for a Blue Ray disc to eject fully, but it certainly is far better than other racks I have worked with. If you use Right angle XLR's you will not have any problems. Hope that helps. By the way, I have NO complaints with this rack at all. It is expensive, but I looked around and I could not find any rack that was as well built and was easy to work with when you need to quickly strip off a panel to gain entry. I wish the rack was 25% less expensive, but it truly is a quality piece of gear. Even my wife likes it! That absolutely surprised me.........

Hello! The distance between the front edge of the rack and the glass with the door closed is exactly 1". I hope this helps and you have enough room. The Sanus unit is really nice- Very professional looking and excellent heavy-duty quality. Crutchfield is awesome as well! Best. Poppa Wheelie.
jeffrey  Feb 20, 2020
A
The cabinet is deep, so I think you will have enough depth to have the connectors in the front.

I have a rack mounted NAS installed. When the door is closed, the clearance is about 1 and 1/8th of an inch (about 2.9cm) between the edge of the NAS and the door.

Do IR tv/ receiver/ set top box/ etc. remotes go through the glass door? I would like to avoid to have an extender and buy a universal remote.

Q
Can this be used in a garage? Is it sealed enough?
charles  Mar 22, 2017
1 answer
A
It can. The issue will come from cooling fans. If you need to install some to keep your gear running cooler, then that could bring in a lot of dust/dander from a garage. If that can be kept somewhat under control, then you shouldn't have any issues. HTH! My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
what is the usable inside space from front to back and side to side? i am trying to see what size gear can fit.
teryl  Mar 18, 2017
1 answer
A
I'm not in the position to measure the rack now but I can confirm that it is deep enough to fit my 18.5 inch deep Yamaha Aventage RX-A2060 receiver with some space left behind for wiring etc. Side-to-side fits the 17-inch wide receiver too. I also have an Emotiva XPA Gen3 amplifier sitting comfortably in the rack too.
olalekan  Mar 20, 2017
Q
what is the inside measurement of the rack space and can you remove the back ?
teryl  Mar 16, 2017

A
The rack shelves are 17.25 inches wide and are available in varying depths (my shelves are 17.75 inches and 15" deep. The back panel and both side panels are easily removable.

Yes the unit came with an assortment of shelves and blanking plate. I purchased the unit about a year and a half ago, so I do not remember the exact amount, but it was approximately 6or 7 of each. I love the unit, it makes doing your wireing so easy to access, and it looks good too.
martin  Apr 30, 2016

The unit I purchased in 2015 was with five shelves and four blanking plates.

Q
Would it be safe to put a turntable on top of this rack? I know that the heat vents are on top, do you think it would damage the turnable over time?
alexander  Dec 05, 2015
7 answers
A
I do not have a turntable, but if I did I would not have a problem with putting a turntable on top of the cabinet. I do not feel a great deal of heat coming out of the vents on top and my cabinet is full of equipment.
pete  Dec 07, 2015
A
I purchased this item last year. The top is steel and would work fine to put a turntable on. I don't see how it could damage your turn table as long as it has a dust cover.
kurt  Dec 06, 2015
A
It is warm at the top vent but not overly so. Plus the turn table will be in the ambient air so it should cool off. But why not get a taller version and put the turntable inside?
shawn  Dec 06, 2015
A
My turntable was on top of my Sanus rack (until I purchased a sliding shelf to hold it) and it never became notably warm. Unless you have a large, hot component near the top of your tack, I wouldn't think you had have any problem.
jesse  Dec 05, 2015
A
I suspect you would have to have a very hot cabinet to generate enough heat to damage a turntable. There are vents on the sides and back also, so it seems highly unlikely. If you had that much heat you should be cooling it with a fan in the rack or A/C. For typical audio components I think it would be fine.
bryce  Dec 05, 2015
A
No you would need a lot of very hot running equipment to generate that much heat. I have an 11 channel receiver, separate amp, blu ray player, media server, rook, cable tv dir, apple tv, etc and it generates very little heat.
rick  Dec 05, 2015
A
the amount of heat should be negligible. I have 2 large amps, pre-amp receiver, and it only gets warm. I have the optional fan unit installed in the top, but I rarely turn it on. If you are that concerned, you can get the fan unit.

Can the casters and adjustable feet be removed and this rack be used built in? We are doing a new construction home and want this mounted in the wall with closet access from behind. Thanks!

The casters and the adjustable feet can both be removed this is a great buy will work with new construction
devon  Jun 09, 2015

I actually did use this unit as a built in and did not use the canisters. I did use the adjustable feet for leveling purposes which I would recommend. I bulit the framing specifically to fit this unit and then finished it with trim. It absolutely looks like a custom built in...
gary  Jun 09, 2015
A
Yes, in fact the casters and adjustable feet are included separately to be attached to the cabinet - so you can just leave them off.
james  Jun 09, 2015
A
I see no reason why you could not do this as the wheels are removable and i believe the feet can be unscrewed and removed as well (not 100% sure on that last part but you could just screw them tight to the bottom. there are vents on the sides, top and bottom so make sure you leave room for air to circulate. it is a high quality piece of equipment.
