Quality stands for the price. My Energy 5 speakers fit well. I had to mount them a tad different from instructions as the keyhole stud was to large. But there was enough hardware included so I was able to devise my own mount!
Pros:
Good Quality. Good Price

Will not fit Vizio S4251W-B4 Satellite Speakers

Written By JA, Cave Creek, AZ on Monday, February 24, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these universal speaker stands after speaking with a product specialist via online chat. Sent him the link to my Vizio speakers and he confirmed that the speakers would fit (based on the fact that the speakers are keyhole style). Tried setting up the stands and they do not fit at all. Returned in exchange for Sanus EFSAT-B1. Made that work with modifications. See my review on the page of the other product for details.
Pros:
Nice stands that I am sure work great with speakers that fit.
Cons:
Did not fit my satellite speakers or wires.

Good, not Great

Written By James R., Charlottesville, VA on Thursday, August 08, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The HTB7 is a decent speaker stand, and bears the weight of my little 2.5-pound Polks admirably.

Setting them up was the biggest difficulty. I'd already run wire from my receiver to the satellite speaker, and trying to thread it up the stand from the bottom was a poor decision. Even so, the opening is very narrow, and I struggled to get the 16-gauge wires through. Secondly, though various "Universal" mounting plates and screws are included, I still had to pick up some spare nuts and bolts to secure my speakers to the stands. While far from an expensive solution, it would have been nice to avoid an extra trip to the hardware store.

However, once set up, they've performed as one might expect.
Pros:
- Once set up, performs its task as it should
Cons:
- Difficult to thread speaker wire. - Rubber feet on the base don't adhere well and frequently slid off. - Additional hardware may be required to attach some speakers.

Very nice product. Looks great and surprisingly stable. Would have given it a 5+ but had to drill expansion holes to fit the screw through the mounting plate.

Best In Their Class

Written By Gary, N.W. IN on Saturday, July 27, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice stands for their price point. Other reviewers have commented on the finish being somewhat scratch-prone; my experience likewise. These stands WILL NOT handle more than 14AWG speaker wire. I found the best way to run wire is through the top section opening first, down into the second section, and through the base.
Pros:
Attractive and sturdy. Multi-point mounts that can handle virtually any satellite speaker. Indentation in the base that allows speaker wire through so the stands sit level on non-carpeted floors.
Cons:
Finish prone to scratching and marring. If you're using keyhole mounting with any of the Polk Audio TL-series satellites, none but the smallest banana plugs will work.

Satellite speaker stands

Written By Bob, Plymouth, MI on Monday, June 03, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two pair of these HTB7 speaker stands for my Polk surround sound speakers and am very satisfied with the product. I was concerned about the stability, not being top heavy with speakers installed, but the heavy base gives them good stability, even on thick carpet. I used Rocketfish 16 ga. wire, which barely fit through the small hole at the top, so this would be the maximum size wire you can use. All in all, a very nice stand at an affordable price that I would recommend to anyone.

Great stand for small speakers

Written By wallace GT, Colorado on Thursday, December 13, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a Yamaha YHT-597 HTIB, and these stands work well. However, there are are a few things you should know. This stand offers multiple mount options for the speakers, which should fit just about any speaker you have. I had to widen the mounting notch slightly on each speaker itself for the mounting screw to slide in easily, otherwise it was too tight. Not the stand's fault, though. The other thing which others have mentioned in their reviews is the tight, narrow tube for threading heavier gauge speaker wire through. I used Monster XP clear jacket compact speaker wire. It slid just fine though the stand tube, but I had to get creative to get the wire out at the top to hook up to the speaker. Thinner gauges wires will be easier. Also, on one of my four stands, there was a small chunk of metal left attached at the wire opening that I had to remove with some needle nose pliers before the wire would feed through correctly. Other than that, the fit and finish of all items is great. The adjustable height of each stand allows for easy customization. Just read the specs to know the weight limit that each stand holds, and the max height at which it can go. Now that they're all set up, they look great in my living room. I get lots of compliments from my buddies on the setup. I'd recommend them to my friends, with the little bits of advice I just gave you. And beside the stand, the Crutchfield shipping was fast, and the stands were well packed.
Pros:
Adjustable height, weighted base, universal speaker mounts
Cons:
Narrow opening for heavier gauge speaker wire

Not good for thicker wire

Written By shawn, san diego, ca on Friday, April 13, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I hadn't thought about drilling a hole bigger to try to get the wires through, as another reviewer pointed out. However, I am not convinced that the 12 gauge wire would have made it through the upper portion. Honestly, I do not understand what the designer was thinking. Many people have to run a lot of wire for surround sound. Longer runs require thicker cable and it seems impossible to get 12 gauge wire through these. You might be able to get 14gauge through them but it'd probably be a hassle.
Pros:
They are simple to setup and slim so they don't take up a lot of space in the room
Cons:
can't get good wire through them

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Stands look nice in the living room. Base seems weighted sufficiently for stability. I would recommend to others. Ordering/shipping process with Crutchfield easy as usual.
Pros:
nice look. reasonable price.
Cons:
hard to get wire through. I used a coat hanger to pull the wire through. Took a while to make sure I did not scratch the exterior of the stands. Mechanics wire would work better as the coat hanger had some flexibility limitations.

Seem to be pretty well. Had to take apart to run my 14-gauge wire through it. I found it easier to push the wire in through the top hole instead of from the bottom. Holds my Energy RC-Micro satellites quite well.
Pros:
Look good. Solidly built.
Cons:
Was not really crazy about the plastic used to join the two pieces of the post. Seems to hold for now though.

How to fish the wire through

Written By JimC, St. Louis on Sunday, January 29, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice attractive speaker stand - wife loves the way they look. I don't have much to add to the other reviews except that I also found it difficult to feed Monster wire through them. I solved the problem by splitting the wire down a few inches and cutting one lead about an inch shorter than the other. I was then able feed the wire through the bottom and fish the leads through the small hole at the top of the stand, one at a time, using a very thin nose pliers.

I hope this saves someone a lot of time and frustration.

Great stand for the price!

Written By UFgolfer, North Palm Beach, FL on Thursday, December 15, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I highly recommend this stand for anyone looking to place speakers in a small room. It has a great price and -- most importantly -- passed the wife test!
Pros:
This was exactly what I was looking for in a small speaker stand. A Crutchfield customer service representative recommended this stand to go with my newly purchased Polk Blackstone TL3 speakers. I am pleasantly surprised with this product. Thanks Crutchfield!
Cons:
Keeping the price in mind, it is difficult to find a fault with this stand. My only concern is the plastic connector used to secure the post extension. It tightens okay now, but I'm not sure how it will perform over time. Also, in reading other posts about these stands, I was prepared to have trouble threading Monster XP cable through the small post eye on the stand, however this turned out not to be an issue.

Speaker stands are good for our rear surround sound Definitive speakers (4 lbs. each). Only complaints ~ would like height adjust threaded connector to be metal ~ it is PLASTIC. Hope it holds up over time. Also was missing a duplicate sized screw for bottom mounting speaker to bracket but was able to use another (though they are different lengths).

okay...

Written By RW, Cape Cod, MA on Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stands worked for my needs with one BIG problem. No decent speaker wire will fit through the tube (without some major effort). Had to drill out the top hole about three times it's original size. Not what I wanted to do to brand new speaker stands! Had to make the choice between dealing with sending them back or risk screwing them up by drilling the out.
If I had a box set of speakers with thin wires, these would be ideal. They are small and look good.

Careful if Buying for Energy Micros

Written By LtColBuckRobley, Illinois on Thursday, March 03, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for the energy rc micro 5.1 satellite speaker system. I had lots of
problems getting the speakers to mount to these stands. I ended up going to my garage
and digging through some old screws and finally found some that these would mount
with. Nobody else had really mentioned that these wouldn't work with the energy's. I
later went to crutchfield.com product description for the speakers and saw in the notes
under "the product research team" that they do in fact mention they won't work with the kit
supplied with the speakers You have to buy a "pinpoint" screw kit which is sold
separately. So the moral of the story is I should have investigated further before I
bought. I did eventually get them mounted and the stands themselves seem sturdy and
look pretty good. The price is more than fair. Hopefully this review will save anyone the
trouble if they're planning to buy them for the energy micros.

configurations to adapt to a varitty of speakers - as long as they are light weight. Neither
attractive or ugly - the fact that they can be configured in many ways is the real plus.

why such small wire routings

Written By D Dubs on the Mike, My Living Room on Friday, February 04, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are perfectly nice except that when I bought my home speaker system, I was strongly
encouraged to get the thicker speaker wire (I think it was 18 as opposed to 16 g, but don't
remember for sure). So I got it even though it cost a bundle. Then I get the speaker stands
and find that the internal routing for the wire (i.e., up the rod) won't accommodate the larger
wire. So I took a hit on the cost of the larger wire, and had to buy the thinner cable which is
supposedly an inferior product.

Excellent Stands

Written By Colin, Florence, Oregon on Friday, January 23, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice stands. Easily adaptable to any speaker. I used computer speakers primarily because the amplifier is built in and I could transmit low level signals to them, eliminatinmg the need for wires. A real plus is being able to direct bass to the rear speakers, greatly enhancing the audio experience. For some reason, the left and right speakers have different configurations on the bottom, requiring a tiny bit of ingenuity to mount them to the stands.

Good Stands but Be Careful

Written By Grant, Wa State Coast on Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These stands solved my "placement problem". I have an oddly shaped room, and these work well with their adjustability, and being able to place the speakers where I need to. I also suggest as another reviewer did that you be careful when tightening them down. I don't know why they used plastic on the "tightening part", but they did. Just be very careful not to overtighten. Otherwise they're good stands. I was concerned that since I have shag (I know!) carpet that they might not be stable enough, but as long as you don't run into them they're stable enough. I have one pair and have ordered another...hope this helps in your search...

The speaker stands went together very easy, and look good. My only complaint would be, they need to be a few inches taller. They are lower than the back of my couch. I had to put them to the side, I would have preferred the back. But otherwise an exceptional value for the price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The quality of the speaker stands looked pretty good until I I had to adjust the height. I was disappointed in the quality of the cheap plastic adjustment collar. For just a few cents more they could have used metal or stronger plastic so it did not appear cheap. For the price they will get the job done, but I was disappointed.

Really Nice

Written By Big Mike, Boston on Tuesday, February 12, 2008

These are nice stands and support the speaker well. The reason I gave them 4 instead of five is that they don't seem to be intuitive to adjust the height.

Will These stands work well with the Bose 161 speakers? [ mark  Apr 12, 2014 ]
1 answer
  • I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The weight of those Bose speakers hits right at the maximum weight recommended for those stands. I would play it safter with something like the BF31's. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_051BF31B/Sanus-BF31B-Speaker-Stands.html?tp=1386 If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Would these work to mount Klipsch Promedia 5.1 system satellites? [ Dave  Mar 24, 2014 ]

  • I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: I?m afraid we don?t carry those speakers, but if they are less than 4 pounds and either have a threaded insert on the back or can set on the 2x2 top plate you should have no issue in using them. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Staff  Mar 26, 2014 ]
