Sanus NF24 Speaker Stands

Overview

Our take on the Sanus NF24 Speaker Stands

High-performance speakers deserve high-performance stands. From top to bottom, Sanus' latest wood speaker stands combine fine furniture looks with ultra-rigid construction for solid support and optimum sound quality.

High-performance speakers deserve high-performance stands. From top to bottom, Sanus' latest wood speaker stands combine fine furniture looks with ultra-rigid construction for solid support and optimum sound quality.

Each base and top plate is made of anti-resonant MDF and has a smooth low-luster black finish. Brass speaker studs and neoprene pads are included to isolate the speaker from the top plate. Plastic feet for the underside of the base plate protect wood or tile floors (adjustable carpet spikes also included). A patent-pending concealed speaker wire path on the rounded support pillar keeps cables out of sight. Assembly takes just minutes.

Priced per pair

I never thought that speaker stands could improve the quality of my Vinyl and other music but I was wrong! These were the best little investment into my sound system and the price is tough to beat. :)

Sanus NF24 Speaker Stands

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off let me start by saying that I normally don't leave reviews for items purchased but couldn't resist when I was reading the reviews left by others for what I believe is just a lack of knowledge on there part. I purchased these stands to support my Polk TSX220B speakers that I am using for fronts in my 5.1 setup. They are made sturdy and have a nice matte black finish. I honestly wouldn't put a speaker any bigger dimensionally than what I have due to the small top plate. I have read all the reviews on these prior to my purchase and saw how much difficulty people were having putting these stands together, reading the instructions and installing the vertical wire cover on the back. I even read complaints about them not being level. It only takes a #2 stubby phillips screwdriver so you don't strip the screw holes from over tightening them. As far as these not being level, try moving them to something you know that is level like a granite counter top. I will bet it's the floors in your home are not level not the speaker stand. Overall these are pretty nice stands for the money and I would definitely purchase another set but maybe a "open box" special next time from Crutchfield.

Pros: Easy to assemble, Multiple choice of feet options, Decent quality overall.

Cons: Wish the black finish could have a little more gloss to it and maybe Sanus could provide small & large top plates for different size speakers.

Nice stands but the hardware for attaching the top plate is terrible. Screws are cheap and not robust enough. In addition the screw heads stuck up too high. I had to replace with something longer and thicker. Typical made in China. Overall the stands are decent that aside.

Pros: Nice design.

Cons: Made in China. Cheap hardware that had to be replaced.

About TIME

Written by: Don T from Houston, TX on February 8, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had the same Norman Lab speakers for 40 years. I have hung them from the ceiling, parked them on book shelves and, most recently, sat them upright on the hardwood floor. As I age, I grant everything that has a number of years on it a great measure of grace. My speakers have not seemed as rich for the last 15 years of sitting on the floor and I was clearly aware of the difference but unwilling to replace the speakers. My audiophile cousin suggested raising them to improve what they might be capable of delivering. WOW, what a difference elevating them to seated ear level on these well priced, unobtrusive looking, sturdy speaker stands. Love my Sanus NF24 Speaker Stands. Wish I had done this years ago.

Pros: sturdy, easy to assemble, unobtrusive in appearance, choice of carpet or hard surface footing, WELL PRICED.

Cons: I had no issues with this product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A decent value, they look great from afar but are far from great. Nothing is close to being truly square or aligned on my set. The top plate is at a very noticeable angle when compared to the base. The base is also not level and I have had to use shims to get all four corners touching. Even with the base secured, they are very wobbly once assembled. The center post feels so flimsy that a child could break it from the base with ease. I am actually a really worried about them tipping in an earthquake or something. They will suffice until I can find a better solution long term. Also, mine was missing a carpet stud (came with 7 of 8), but since I have hardwood floors it wasn't a big deal to me.

Pros: - a reasonable value for holding up bookshelf speakers

Cons: - no adjusters on the base to assist with leveling; had to use shims - poor crafting tolerances; components are far out of alignment - wobbly and flimsy - missing components

Looks great and was easy to assemble, just be careful when tightening the screws to not overtighten. A little dab of liquid soap helps to lubricate the screws. One of my bottom pedestal came dented from the factory. I used some black marker to fill it in. That's my only compliant.

Pros: Sturdy with good looks. Brought my bookshelf speakers to a proper height. Big difference in sound stage and imaging.

Cons: Slight dent on pedestal base but black marker covered it up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Exactly what I was looking for.

Pros: Very nice finish, very sturdy and easy to put together, supports my Polk fx500i surround speakers. Some reviews stated that it was difficult attaching the wire cover to the neck of the unit. Easy solution: Slide the wire cover up the neck first. Just start at either end and run the cover through the groves rather then trying to press it into the groves at the very end.

Cons: None.

Nice stands

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm on the fence between 4 and 5 stars but went with 5. Stands are very nice. But the long piece of plastic on back that hides the cable cracked on both when trying to bend it into a 'u' shape to slide in grooves. But I can live without that. I just used some black electric tape to hold wire in place up the shaft and it looks nice. But I gave it 5 stars because I was pleasantly surprised by rubber sticker feet I could use as alternative to little metal pointy feet picture shows that speakers rest on. I knew my speakers weren't rectangular in size and back of speaker would fall in between metal feet. I used the rubber sticker feet option and got to place stickers where I wanted... and they hold speaker in place exceptionally well. Great traction. So I'm very pleased with stands. I think they look great. And wide bottom plate really holds a heavy surround bookshelf speaker in place without worry of it being tipped over.

For the price I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these speakers. They provide a very good foundation for my Polk RTi A3 and the fit and finish are very good. The cherry color of the stand is very close to the cherry finish on the Polk speakers.

Pros: Perfect match for the speaker. A very reasonable price.

Cons: none noted at this point.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are a nice set of stands which handle my Polk RTi A3's just fine. They are heavy and stable and the rubber feet work well on my hardwood floors. I was a bit worried that they would be tippy but they are not at all. I found them very easy to assemble and well made, really wonder why people had trouble putting them together. Overall I found the quality high and they look very good, well worth the price.

Pros: Well made Easy to assemble Look very nice Stable

Cons: None

Good speaker stand

Written by: Zemrock from Montana on March 25, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good sturdy base for set on a hard surface verses carpet. They support a pair of 10" x 10" x 20" bookshelf speakers- no problem.

Pros: Clean lines, stable.

Cons: There could be a better solution for the pads on the speaker table surface, perhaps larger, more of them. The plastic cover on the back of the pedestal meant to cover the speaker wire is awkward and difficult to install but not impossible. I would recommend bending it a bit before trying to place it in the channels meant to hold it in place.

Good high end audio stand, surprising sturdy

Written by: Zoookle from Pittsburgh, PA on March 16, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall this stand is not bad. I don't get any vibrations or any rattling when playing music through the Polk RTI A3's they hold. They do have rubber feet for hard wood floors and spikes for carpets. Having carpet I used the spikes and it hold the speaker well and does not tip. The cord management panel was a little tough to put in. Unfortunately you have to force bend the plastic panel to get it into the grooves, but once its in it looks great. For a budget speaker stands this is a great deal.

Pros: - Looks/style - Price - Good center of gravity, even for heavy speakers (16 lbs) - Parts for carpet and hard floors

Cons: - Build/Quality control, some screw holes were a little lose or tight as some other reviewers have stated - Setup, the plastic panel for the cord management needs a little force to get in the grooves correctly

Awesome product.

Pros: Wonderful, easy to assemble. After reading some other reviews, I wonder if people know how to get dressed in the morning. I know my 6 year old grandson could have assembled this in 10 minutes, 5 minutes a piece. In other words, great product, great look and great functionality. Friends have commented that I must have spent big money on these as they look amazing.

Cons: None. I wonder in competitors type in smack to give a bad rap.

Cons: The drill holes are hit and miss. Some too tight, one or two, too loose. Instructions are only marginally helpful.

The finish is not great. The speaker wire will not fit in the groves on the back side of the platform . The directions are not great. The security of speakers on the pedestal should be better design. I feel these are over priced.

Cons: Wood finish not the best, slots for wire need to be wider, pr,ice too high

Great speaker stands. Well built and heavy. Come with a couple different kinds of feet options, one for carpet and one for hardwood or tile. They hold my Klipsch RB-81 II just fine. Oh and they assemble quickly. I highly recommend them.

Pros: Great looks, wel constructed, and come with optional feet.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Good Stands

Written by: Anonymous from Waxhaw, NC on December 3, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall Good stands. I used them for my Klipsch Ultra 2 speakers Front Left, Right, and Center Channel. Sold and sturdy. I used the carpet spikes that comes with the stands and the hold great. That back plastic that is used to hold the cables is hard to get in. I think the design could have been better. But after you get it in, it does what it's supposed to do. Still a great purchase.

Pros: Sturdy. Good build.

Cons: Hard to install the plastic cable management holder. Poor design.

Solid mid-range stands at a great price

Written by: Tamara from Arlington, VA on July 30, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have the Polk Audio RTi A3 bookshelf speakers. These stands are the perfect size and height for those speakers. I have hardwood floors and used the rubber triangles to keep the speaker sturdy on the stand. My sound is even better, now that the speakers are at ear/face height while sitting on the sofa. I was looking for sturdy stands and these fit the bill. Assembly: All that was needed on my part was a phillips-head screwdrivier (I used my electric drill with the phillips-head bit to get the screw all the way in as, once the screws were most of the way in, it got a little tough). Easy to assemble, though the cord management system (a piece of black plexiglass) is a little difficult to get in the back grooves. Looks: I just wanted something that could "blend in" with the current setup and black was the best best. Nothing fancy. Just simple stands.

Good stands at a great price

Written by: Jeff P from Philadelphia, PA on April 12, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sturdy stands, easy to assemble. Given they are 'entry level' stands, give or taken, I expected them to be less sturdy than they are. They come with carpet spikes and 'peg' stands you can use, and the top plate can use spiked pegs or rubber mats to place the speakers on. The cable hiding cover on the back gets the job done quite well, however I had some trouble getting my speaker cable through. I had first installed the speaker wire cover, then fished the speaker wire through the bottom, up the cover and out the top, but there wasn't enough room at the top to get the speaker wire + banana plug through. If the cover was an inch or two shorter, it'd be perfect. I just had to remove the top part of it to get the cable through. No big deal, but just a heads up.

Pros: Great price for a sturdy stand Multiple installation options

Cons: Speaker wire hider could be improved, but works well once installed

Not Bad For The Money

Written by: Bassman from Nashville on March 18, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stands look nice and fot the money they are not bad.The only problem I saw was the holes for the screws for the speaker bases were drilled too large and the screws did not tighten.I inserted some wooden toothpicks in each of them and managed to tighten then pretty good.I have a feeling since I used velcro on my JBL E30's to make sure they don't fall off that when I want to take them off the pedestals the bases will probably pull the screws out. When that happens I will just fill the holes and redrill.

Pros: They look good and are fairly sturdy.

Cons: The screw holes were drilled too large.

Quality Control Issues

Written by: WSC from Portland, CT on January 30, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Attractive stands. Look and feel sturdy, with a glossy rich black finish. Speakers sound great on the stands. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed with the quality control--which is the reason for the lower rating. The brass speaker studs would not fit on the top plate unless the pre-drilled stud holes were enlarged. Its not difficult to enlarge these holes--but why couldn't this be done at the factory. More significantly, the top plate and the base plate would not line up on one stand. I can't figure out which set of mounting holes (the pillar or the bases) are out of alignment. I am debating whether its worth the aggravation of disassembling, repacking, and returning this product. One other QC issue, the "patented" wire covers do not work with the recommended Monster speaker wire I was a little surprised at the size of the top plate ---its small in relation to my speakers. The speakers are not secured to the stand--they sit on the top plate. Looking at other similar stands, this appears to be the norm. I would be concerned if there were children or pets in the house.

Pros: Rich finish, looks good when assembled. Speakers sound great when mounted on the stands.

Cons: Quality control lacking. Possible issue--the speaker could be knocked off the stand under some circumstances Speaker wire covers would not fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stands have a nice finish and are solid when put together. Because I put the top shelves on upside down, the holes were not beveled (they are on the other side) I beveled them before I knew the other side was already beveled. This weakened the holes. I contacted Crutchfield and told them I needed to purchase new top portions, but they were good enough to send me a new set no charge - wow! Great service.

Pros: Sharp looking. Sturdy. Great customer service.

Would recommend to anyone to buy these stands they are the perfect height for couches. I bought these to hold the Polk RTi A3 speakers I bought for my brother. These assembled easily. I have to say I though the cables might be hidden inside the verticle posts, but they ran along the back which worked, but I thought they might be more hidden. The speaker cable hole going from the post to the actual speakers fit the 16 gage speaker wires but would not be wide enough for 12 gage wires.

Pros: Attractive design (cherry and black) Assembled easily.

Sanus 24" Speaker stands

Written by: capkris from San Juan, PR on February 4, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These stands are sturdy and well built. They look nice and I recommend them. They are a good value for the money. Follow the instructions carefully and be sure to use the right screws in each hole when you put them together. I started to put them together incorrectly by not paying enough attention to which screws went where, but it was simple to fix; just remove them and start again. If a screw seems to be hard to tighten, you might be putting it in the wrong hole. I recommend using velcro tape to ensure speakers do not fall off from vibration (of the speakers themselves). A small piece (approx. 1"x2") on each corner of the base where speaker rests on the stand should be sufficient.

Pros: These 24" stands are the perfect height for "bookshelf" speakers.

Cons: The cable mangement cover is a little hard to install and remove, but it provides a good option to hide the speaker cables. Note it is just a cover; it is not built or intended to "wrap" excess cable.

Written by: Eric from Carson City, NV on January 25, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ordered these off of the outlet site. Arrived within a few days, easy to setup. They look great, my only criticism is the size of the cable guide holes, which are barely large enough for my Monster cables on a normal setup. I've got my B&W monitors bi-amped, so I can't use the cable guides until I make the cable holes and guides larger.

Pros: Great service from Crutchfield, easy to setup, look great (even my wife says so!)

Cons: Cable guide and access holes need to be larger if using Monster cables.

Attractive stands - buy them.

Nice looking, sturdy, and easy to assemble. (I use them on oak flooring.) The rear panel that hides the wire is easy to install - I didn't bend it enough to start. You do have to really bend it to fit into the slots, but the panel is more flexible than it appeared at first - don't worry about it. It seemed easier to insert them by starting at the top and working down.

Very Satisfied

Written by: AbbyK from Corning, NY on July 24, 2011

Bought these to replace a brand-new set of Sanus BF24Bs I had bought but was not satisfied with (appearance). These are much better looking, well worth the extra money. Box comes all beat up. My carton was so badly damaged that it was missing the hardware kit and instructons. I was shocked that the main parts appeard to have held up fine - the box was literally a mess. Crutchfield 2nd day shipped the kit - hassle-free. The stands went together well, but I noticed one of the bases had been damaged in shipping. Crutchfield 2nd day shpped a replacement - hassle free. Interesting to note that both replacement shipments came wrapped as if they were fine china - bubble wrap, foam - impossible to damage. If only the original stands came out that way. 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the carton quality or Crutchfield's shipping method. I would definitely buy them again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speaker stands, the cherry against the black looks great. The stands are sturdy and strong, very easy to assemble and the wire managment hides the wires perfectly. We are using the steel pegs to anchor into the carpeting. But with all the configurations, you have several options to choose. I gave it a rating of 4 stars, only because the tops could (should) be larger. My Polk RTi-A3 speakers are larger ( they do fit on them). But I would have paid a little more, if Sanus included an extra pair of tops for larger speakers it's a 5 for sure. With that said, you get a great, good looking stand, for a good price point,I would highly reccomend this product

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice these stands were. Very easy to put together (and I'm a girl!). Got these for a pair of B & W 686 speakers that weigh almost 11 lbs, and I am not worried at all about them getting accidentally knocked over. Great stands for the price!!!

The stands arrived in a fairly torn up box, and, predictably, they had gouges, etc. They are just OK, not terrific.

A great quality speaker stand

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these in cherry to go with a set of cherry Polk LSi9's. They arrived in great shape. It is a snap to put them together and takes about 5 minutes each. Two screws in the top and two in the bottom. Screw the four feet on each one and snap in the plastic channel that covers the speaker wire and you are done. These are very solid and are well made. They look great with the cherry finish speakers and appear more as a piece of upscale furniture. The speakers I have are rather heavy and the stands are quite adequate to hold the load. Can't go wrong with these. Simple to assemble, very sturdy, and quite attractive.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I give these stands 5 stars in agreement with the previous reviews. A couple of points not mentioned in the other reviews: 1) I am using the stands with the supplied spikes on carpet and I find the stands to actually be 23" high 2) it's hard to discern from the picture, but the pole is not circular but more of an egg shape (imagine a flat bottomed egg lying on it's side with top pointed towards you). The pole is also solid wood, not hollow, so you cannot add weight with sand like you can with some stands, but they have plenty of substance without it 3) I have the stands facing my seating area and find that I do not need to insert the plastic glides in the back that hides the speaker wire. The pole itself does the job. There are holes towards the back of the top plate and bottom base that you run the wire through. I find this is enough to keep the wire in place 4) I think it goes without saying, but you want to make sure the speakers that you place on these are at least 8" wide as the top plate measure 7.5". 5) Lastly, these stands look great.

Sanus NF24 Speaker Stands

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My first impression after removing the parts from the box were that they are heavy and dense. The speakers stands are solid which makes me feel like they are of a good quality. The assembly of the stand was very simple with only a few screws to piece it together. The instructions were fine, but I'd even say you could assemble these without instructions because it's that simple. The hardest part of the assembly was the plastic wire cover along the back. The cover was rather difficult to bend and insert into the back slots. It took a few minutes to get the piece in correctly but once it's installed, I won't have to play with it again. I found that once I made sure the slots were clear from debris that the plastic pieces installed a little bit easier. I'm using these speaker stands with a pair of Model 6 speakers and I'm very happy with my purchase. There is no rattle or noise from the stands and they are of the right height for the speakers to place the tweeter at roughly ear level while sitting down. Crutchfield processed my order very quickly and the product was shipped the very next day. The standard ground shipping arrived in only a few days with the product undamaged. I was very happy with the experience and would recommend both the speaker stands and Crutchfield to anyone. I would buy this product again if I ever needed more.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The fit and finish, instructions, and sturdiness are top notch. The additional few dollars for furniture quality appearance is also much appreciated as these match my compoment shelf. I was glad this height was available, as it places the speakers just below my 60 inch screen. Crutchfield shipped promptly and there were no scratches, etc, as I have always run into in the past with other big box stores. I would buy these again. i am very satisfied.

Sanus NF24

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, a very nice, functional stand. Provides the perfect audible speaker height for bookshelf type speaker. 2 Negatives: First, the plastic speaker wire cover is a bit unwieldy. The design could, and should be improved. Second, the speaker platform is dangerously close to being too big (sticking out from under the speaker). It could be a little smaller. Just BARELY fits under Polk RTIA3's. Be sure to measure your speaker bottom and compare it to the dimensions of this speaker stand. I did, but had less free space to work with than I had planned on.

Great speaker stands

Written by: Steven from San Francisco, CA on July 7, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great little speaker stands. The central column is hardwood (it looks like Cherry, but I'm not totally sure it is) and the top and bottom platforms are MDF or some other composite, but very strong. It comes with all the necessary HW to put the stand on a carpet (using spikes) or wood (using rubber feet). It also comes with little brass cones that mount on the top platform, so the speaker just rests on four points. We have downstairs neighbors who are noise sensitive and we have yet to hear complaints about sound transfer. I'll probably buy another pair of stands for the guest room.

Features

Design: Each base is made of anti-resonant MDF finished with three coats of hand-sanded black lacquer. Adjustable floor spikes are included to provide stable footing on carpeted floors, and to further minimize resonance. A single sturdy black pillar supports the low-profile top plate, which features a choice of neoprene isolation pads or brass isolation studs. Plastic wire covers give your speaker stands a neater look by concealing the wires completely.

Spiked Feet: The spiked feet pierce the carpeting and anchor the stand to the floor, keeping the speaker stable and reducing resonance. With the spiked feet installed, the stand height is adjustable from 24.75" to 25". Note: If you do not wish to use the spiked feet, Sanus has included plastic feet that will not scratch your floor.

Brass Studs: These upward facing brass studs hold the speaker stable and minimize resonance.

Neoprene Pads: The sharp points on the brass studs can scratch the bottom of the speaker. If this is of concern, you can use the supplied neoprene pads to stabilize the speaker.

Weight Capacity: Each speaker stand can support up to 25 lbs.

Top Shelf Dimension: The top shelf is 7-3/8" wide and 7-3/8" deep. Note: For use with smaller bookshelf models. The NF24's height makes it an ideal solution for mounting your surround speakers.
