The installers had this up in no time flat. Looks like it will do a terrific job.

Pros: sturdy, low cost

My problem was 16" studs not centered where I needed them to center a 37" LCD
TV. The width of the wall mounting plate allowed me shift the whole thing to
where the TV is now centered.

The Sanus VMPL50 is a very simple yet sturdy universal plasma/LCD wall mount.
All the required parts were included in the box along with very easy to read
instructions. I would recommend this for anybody that is looking for a basic
wall mount. For $79.99 and free shipping it was a very good deal.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We purchased a mount from a different store that said it was rated for 35-50
inches, drilled out the holes put it up and found out that this mount is not
universal. It was about a half inch to narrow for our TV (42 inch Panasonic). We
then looked on Crutchfield's site and found this one. We called them by phone
and they made sure it was wide enough. We ordered this and got it within 3 days.
It was very easy to put up. The hardware comes in a long sleeve of sealed
compartments so its easy to find what you need. It took us less than 45 min to
get this on the wall and TV mounted. The only thing I did not like was there is
an Allen set screw that locks the two parts of the mount together when you mate
the TV mount to the wall mount that is pretty hard to get to so you can do just
a half turn or so on long screw. This part alone was about 10 min, just turning
that Allen wrench. You may want to find a long handled Allen wrench and save
yourself some time.
This is our 3rd purchase from Crutchfield this year, I cant recommend them

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this model because I liked the price and I wanted a TV mount that would hold either of two TVs that I have. One of the TVs is a 32" and the other is a 40". Another must for me was a mount that would securely attach across two wall studs. This mount did all that I wanted. The mounting base was long enough to cover two studs which made it easy to get my TV centered on the wall. The mount arrived right when it was supposed to and all the parts were neatly packed and ready for installation. The assembly was simple and I am very satisfied with the results.

This unit is well built and finished. Comes complete with all hardware for any
type of installation and is easy to install with basic tools. TV installation is
also easily done. Only difficulty lies in tightening the adjustment knobs if
your hands are to large to fit behind the TV and wall.

For "Older" TV's too

Written By Darrell, Beaufort, SC on Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this unit in hopes of it fitting my older Hitachi 42" Plasma TV. The
mount itself is very sturdy & well made. Fit like it was always part of the TV
and easy to install with adequate instructions. The only concern you may wish to
consider, is the distance from the wall on these older (or "thicker") flat
screen TV's. I was able to be creative with this mount and set the TV, 4" inside
the wall itself,. Thus, just leaving the outside edge of the TV almost flush
with the wall. It looks outstanding! Thanks, Crutchfield.

Great tilting mount with all necessary hardware included. The tilt out for cable access is
a big plus. I hung my 46" TV without issues. Tilt knobs are a bit difficult to reach when
fully mounted but a small inconvenience for a close to the wall mount that tilts.

No horizontal lock

Written By Reilly, Staunton, VA on Monday, January 17, 2011

This mount has no horizontal locking mechanism. In theory, your kid could slide it off one
end. Crutchfield said it would work with my KDL-46EX710. However, the M6x12 were too
short to engage the threads thru the mount, and the 35mm were too long without the
standoffs and too short with. I had to use a hacksaw to cut the plastic standoffs. Not real
excited for my application...

Don't know how the picture quality would have been perceived from sitting on the

Excellent, Heavy Duty

Written By Bob, Kitsap County, Washington on Wednesday, February 04, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Sanus VMPL50 Black tilting wall mount bracket purchased with the Samsung LN52A650 is beyond heavy duty, and easy to install. Sanus rates this bracket for up to 50" TV's, but it handled the 52" quite easily.

Note - Choosing a height location on the wall for a large screen can be perplexing. The optimum height would be fairly low, and this position looks funny to me. The tilting bracket facilitates a higher installation, and adjustment.

The final installation only took a few minutes. I screwed down the Sanus bracket connectors to the back of the TV (four screws and spacers), and a friend and I picked up the Samsung and mounted it on the main bracket, plugged in the HDMI connectors and power . . done!

Summary - GREAT quality TV and bracket, price, super Crutchfield service (Josh), and free shipping and White Glove delivery . . . Best Regards, Bob

I used the unit to install a 37" LCD above a brick fireplace. All hardware was included for my needs as well as many other mounting methods. The installation process took less than 20 minutes. The unit is solid and strong, with an easy to adjust tilt feature. Even with shipping costs, the unit was cheaper at Crutchfield, and I avoided the hassle of shopping at the box stores. The TV looks so good on the wall that I am considering one for the bedroom as well.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this to mount a Sony 46" W3000 above my fireplace. According to this web site and the Sanus web site, this wall mount is compatible. However, the M6 screws that fit the Sony were not long enough once you threaded them throught the bracket & washers - it only allowed one and a half turns when screwing them in, which doesn't give much comfort when hanging a 70 pound TV. I had to go to a hardware store and buy a different length M6 screw and a couple washers to make it fit. Low dollar add-on but high aggravation. Aside from that, the bracket is easy to mount!

Strong, Flexible, Easy to Install!

Written By Brad, Franklin, TN on Thursday, January 10, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this mount for a Sony 46" LCD XBR4 TV. As another reviewer pointed out, the newer Sony LCD TVs now come with recessed holes to match Sony's mount. However, you don't need anything else than what's provided to use this mount with a Sony TV if you have a couple of handy tools. The M6 size bolts are the ones that matched my Sony TV, but the short bolts were too short and the long bolts were too long for the holes on the back-left side of the TV. Spacers are provided for the long bolts, but I didn't like the extra space from the wall and I didn't feel like there was enough bolt left to secure the TV after using the spacers. So, for the holes on the back-left side, I just used a dremmel to cut two of the long bolts in half and everything worked perfectly! Overall, it took about an hour to mount the TV and the process of actually 'hanging' the TV on the mount was easy. I had enough room to adjust the tilt and change cables with the TV on the wall (although you won't be able to see the holes and will have to do it by feel).

Also, I would suggest this mount over the low profile mount for Sony TVs. These TVs require 2 3/8" of space for ventilation at the rear of the TV and the mount gives you 2.5", where as the low profile ones only give you 1". Plus, that extra space gives you enough room to plug in new cables without needing to pull the TV off of the wall or crimping those high cost HDMI connections.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used this wall mount for my 40" Sony XBR2. As mentioned in previous reviews the packaging and instructions are both excellent. For my TV I had to cut the bolts which attach the back of the TV to the wall mount as they were slightly too long (and the shorter bolts were too short). As always Crutchfield service was excellent and even thought when purchased they had estimated it would take 3-4 business days to receive the product it only took 2! Price wise Crutchfield blew away the competition; the price (including shipping) was $50 less than any local store!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product was a real winner to receive and install. I was very impressed with the packaging of various bolts and everything labeled and sealed in plastic. I immediately called the factory and told them how pleased I was with their instructions and packaging of parts to surely fit any flat panel TV. I did use the spacers to provide alittle extra room to get to connections on the back of the TV but the bolts were usable for my Sony XBR 40 and I am enjoying a beautiful angle and view of my TV. Thank you Crutchfield for handling such a premium wall mount at a reasonable price.

Easy to set up but no "arm room"

Written By Ryan, Saratoga Springs, NY on Sunday, February 04, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price, the mount is very sturdy and very easy to set up. That is until you get to the point of trying to adjust the angle of the TV or even securing the bottom safety bolts. I purchased the Sharp 46" Aquos LCD. It may be a combo of the TV and the mount, but the problem I had was I cannot fit my arm between the back of the TV and the wall, the mount does not allow enough room to reach and adjust the knobs. Therefore, for me to adjust the up/down angle of the tv, I had to have the TV off the wall and "guess" what my angle would be, then put it on the wall, and repeat several times until I had the correct angle. At just under 100lbs it gets old real quick!

The other problem I had with no "arm room" was with the 2 safety bolts. On the bottom side of the bracket, you are supposed to put 2 safety bolts to secure the bottom of the tv brackets to the wall mount. It is and allen head, and there is about 2" of room between the bottom of my tv and my wall. My wife's arms couldnt fit either. I am hoping to find a tool at the hardware store that I can use to fit in there and get these bolts secured.

Maybe on a different TV this mount would be better, but, if you are getting it for the 46" Sharp Aquos LCD, I would shop around for something else.

Excellent, but problems with Sony products

Written By David, Arizona on Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very good product. It is well designed and comes with good directions, as well a thorough complement of mounting hardware for use with different televisions and mounting conditions. Be aware, however, that you might have problems using this to mount a Sony tv. I found that even though this mount is advertised to work with the Sony XBR LCDs, none of the supplied bolts would fit. A phone call to Sanus revealed that at some point Sony made its slots recessed so that they would be a perfect fit for Sony's mount while giving fits to anyone who bought another product. Sanus gave me a bolt size that their "engineers" had determined would work, and asked me to "acquire the proper sized bolts locally." A quick trip to a hardware store gave me what I needed, and so far the tv hasn't fallen off the wall. So I'd recommend buying the Sanus and making the extra phone call and trip to the hardware store to get what you need.

Compatibility: The VMPL50 universal wall-mount bracket is designed to fit flat-panel plasma and LCD monitors from 30" to 56". The TV can have a maximum weight of 130 pounds.

Construction: The bracket is constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a durable powder coated black or silver finish.

Mounting: The wall plate must be mounted to wall studs or anchored to a brick, block, or concrete wall using the supplied lag bolts. The slots in the wall plate can accommodate a variety of stud spacing, allowing you to easily mount the TV to wall studs that are 16" or 24" on center. Once the wall plate is anchored to the wall studs and the monitor brackets (with the TV attached) are hooked onto the wall plate, the TV can slide left to right, allowing you to center the TV on the wall. After the TV is secured, it will be held approximately 2-1/2" from the wall.

Note: Each monitor bracket has multiple bolt holes and can accommodate vertical hole spacing (on the back of the TV) up to 17-1/2" (445mm). Since the monitor brackets can slide on the wall plate, the horizontal hole spacing on the back of the TV can range from 2" to 26-1/2" (50.8 to 660.4mm).

Steel Stud Mounting: If you wish to mount this Sanus wall mount in a building with steel stud walls, you will need the Sanus SSMK1 Steel Stud Mounting Kit (051SSMK1). Steel stud walls are typically found in commercial applications, such as office buildings, warehouses, and condominiums.

Mounting Hardware: The VMPL50 comes with M4, M5, M6, and M8 bolts to mount the monitor brackets to your TV.

VESA: Given the mounting bracket's range of motion, it will accommodate the VESA 50, 75, 100, 200, 400, 200 x 100, 300 x 200, 400 x 200, 400 x 300, and 600 x 400 mounting hole patterns in accordance with industry standards set by the Video Electronics Standards Association.

Virtual Axis Technology: Once the TV is secured to the wall, you can adjust the TV's angle. With the Virtual Axis fingertip tilt system, the TV can tilt 12° up or down, and you can lock the position by simply tightening a knob on each monitor bracket.
