Toshiba employs a "wide color gamut" backlight to provide a 25% wider color range than their previous LCDs. You'll primarily notice deeper reds and greens. The 40RF350U is also one of Toshiba's first LCDs to use a 10-bit panel, which quadruples the number of possible color shades for each color primary (red, green, and blue). The bottom line is that the number of possible hues goes from millions to over a billion, for colors that are nuanced and natural.
