The 42RV535U combines 1080p screen resolution with advanced video processing and upconversion technology to ensure you get the best picture with everything you watch. Toshiba's Double Skin cabinet design features a translucent outer skin covering a textured inner skin, giving this model a rich, luxurious look.
A stunning high-definition picture daytime, nighttime, every time
You'll enjoy crisp, clean HD images, thanks to powerful 14-bit video processing and dynamic backlighting for improved contrast. Toshiba's new AutoView system frees you from worrying about manually changing picture settings when you switch from midday viewing to nighttime movie-watching. AutoView continuously monitors the amount of ambient room light and automatically adjusts several key picture controls accordingly.
Standard-definition images look great, too
While most HDTVs look good with high-def sources, many display a lackluster picture when fed a standard-definition signal. Toshiba's state-of-the-art SRT technology improves the appearance of standard-def material by enhancing sharpness, brightness, and color. So whether you're watching high-def or standard-def, all your movies, TV shows, and video games will look their best.
A wealth of connections for all your A/V gear
Two component video inputs and four 1080p-capable HDMI inputs give you plenty of options for hooking up the growing number of HD components, such as satellite receivers, cable boxes, and video game consoles. The HDMI inputs also feature REGZA Link a system that lets compatible Toshiba components "talk" to each other for easier operation of your home theater.

Very impressed so far with image quality and overall features of the TV. A great value.
I bought this TV as my first "Big TV". I am very impressed. I have had the tv for 4 months and have had zero problems or viewing issues at all. My TV room has three big windows and the TV is easy to view any time of the day. Any kind of source looks great, especially the 1080P Blue Ray and upconverted DVD. I have a Onkyo Reciever that upconverts any source up to 1080i, and even the cable access channel looks great. If you are looking for a great TV with all the bells and whistles of the expensive sets, I would highly recomend this TV.

A wide 176-degree viewing angle ensures that you can enjoy this TV from any seat in your room.
PixelPure 4G 14-Bit Digital Video Processing: Toshiba's 4th generation PixelPure video processing system uses a 14-bit video DAC and constantly monitors changes in signal quality, content, and movement to enhance sharpness, contrast, and color reproduction. This advanced third-generation digital video processing system runs at a fast 333Mhz and is capable of producing 4,096 levels of gradation (16 times greater than a standard 8-bit processor) for a smooth, natural-looking picture without image banding.
DynaLight Dynamic Back-Light Control: Toshiba's DynaLight Technology monitors the brightness level of each video frame, and automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on the image content. Precise signal analysis offers 256 levels of backlight intensity. This creates dynamic contrast up to 5X that of the original panel contrast, resulting in a deeper black level that increases detail and depth, even in low light environments.

When the auto aspect feature is turned on and the TV receives a 480i signal, the picture size is automatically selected; a 4:3 signal is set to Natural, a 16:9 signal is set to Full, a 4:3 letterbox signal is set to Theater Wide 2. If the signal's aspect is not defined, the Picture Size defaults to the last manually chosen setting.

The HDMI jacks are compliant with the E-EDID (Enhanced-Extended Display Identification) standards. If you want to connect a DVI-compatible device, you will need an HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable. Since DVI does not carry audio signals, a stereo audio 3.5mm input is provided for the HDMI 1 input. In addition to the HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable, you will also need a stereo audio 3.5mm cable.
