Transfer Modes: Like most file
management software, Windows Media Player 10 has manual synchronization to
transfer specific files (audio, video, and still photo). Windows Media Player 10 also has an
Automatic synchronization mode which compares the library on your PC with the
files already on your Portable Media Center and automatically loads any new
files in your PC library into the player.
Video Files: Video files on
your PC hard drive recorded using Microsoft Windows XP Media Center are easily
loaded onto the Zen Portable Media Center using the included Windows Media
Player 10. The files may include TV shows, home video, and movies purchased and
downloaded from the internet. The video files are categorized by name and date
on the player and can be sorted either way or by new additions.
Music Files: The
same Windows software also loads music tracks from
your PC. The music files cam be downloaded from internet music sites or "ripped" from audio CDs. Music files
are
encoded in MP3 or WMA. The music files are categorized by album, artist,
playlist, song, or genre and can be sorted using any of these.
Digital Photos: Tens
of thousands of still pictures can be loaded from your PC to the Media Center.
Pictures are sorted by name, date, or a list of new additions. A slide show can
be displayed with interval options of 5, 7, 10, 15, and 30 seconds. Music from
the My Music section can be played along with the slideshow.
Controls: The start button
prompts the main menu. Four cursor buttons are used to highlight menu items and
an OK button enters your selection. A back button jumps back one screen. There
are also power, volume +/- buttons, preset, and standard transport buttons
(play/pause/forward/reverse).
Menu: The main menu toggles
between the My TV, My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, and My Settings options.
Each of the content screens will sort by different criteria. TV, pictures, and
