Overview: The Nikon Macro & Portrait 2 Lens Kit includes two high-quality lenses, two educational guides, and a free online photography class. The AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR lens (model 2190) is a fixed focal length, medium telephoto macro lens that can produce magnificent macro images, even while shooting without a tripod. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens (model 2183) is a fast prime lens that gives your photos an angle of view that is approximately the same as what we see through our eyes. It is ideal for portraits, including photos in low light. Packed alongside of these lenses are Nikon Guides to Macro and Portrait Photography. Once you register your two lenses, you'll receive a voucher for a free online photography class from Craftsy.

DX Format Optimized: The NIKKOR lenses have the Nikon standard bayonet mount, and are compatible with Nikon DSLRs. Each lens has a built-in CPU which allows it to communicate with the camera body for focus and exposure functions. A set of CPU contacts is located on the lens mount for interfacing with the camera body. Both lenses are optimized for Nikon DSLRs with a DX-format image sensor. They can also be used with full-frame FX-format cameras in the DX Crop Mode.

Focusing System: The 35mm lens has a Rear Focusing System, in which only the rear lens group moves during focusing. This eliminates changes in the physical length of the lens during focusing, and enables faster focusing. It is designated with an RF abbreviation on the lens barrel. Meanwhile, the 85mm lens is an IF lens (Internal Focusing), in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Both lenses use Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) to achieve fast and noise-free auto focusing.

Focus Mode Switch: The Focus Mode switch on the barrel of both lenses lets you easily switch between manual focus and auto focus. If you want to enable auto focusing, the camera must be set to Auto Focus, and the switch on the lens needs to be set to "M/A". With most Nikon D-SLRs, the lens gives you a manual override option, allowing you to rotate the separate focus ring while pressing the shutter release halfway.

Vibration Reduction II (VR II): The 85mm lens has built-in Vibration Reduction II (VR II) technology, which improves image stability and reduces blur by compensating for camera shake. It can be effectively used in low-light situations, telephoto and macro shooting, and D-movie recording. When Vibration Reduction is engaged, you can shoot at shutter speeds up to 3-stops slower than those without VR. The Vibration Reduction feature can be turned on or off via a switch on the barrel of the lens. The 35mm lens does not have Vibration Reduction technology.

Diaphragms: The 85mm lens is equipped with a rounded 9-blade diaphragm, while the 35mm lens has a 7-blade diaphragm.

Included Accessories: The 35mm lens comes with the HB-46 bayonet-type lens hood. The hood adds approximately 1/2" to the overall length of the lens. The 85mm lens includes the HB-37 lens hood, which adds 1-5/8" to the overall length of the lens. On either lens, you can invert the hood and snap it onto the lens for storage, if desired. Both lenses also include a soft lens pouch: the CL-0913 (35mm), and the CL-1018 (85mm) lens.

Auto Focus: Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet autofocusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject-working distance through the focus range. Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables ultra-high-speed autofocusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation. The manual/auto focus mode switch allows quick response to situations requiring manual focus operation.
