About the Nikon ME-W1
The interviewer's friend
Tired of crystal-clear video with so-so sound? Nikon's ME-W1 wireless microphone system features separate mic and receiver modules which can be clipped to you and your subject, so both ends of a conversation are heard at the same volume. Having the mic directly attached to a speaker, interview subject or narrator also combats intrusive wind and background noise. The microphone operates via Bluetooth®, and offers a secure wireless connection up to 164 feet away. It's water-resistant, so you can use it indoors and out.

Features
Overview: The Nikon ME-W1 is a compact wireless Bluetooth microphone system that can be used with any digital camera with a 3.5mm mic input. The system consists of a clip-on transmitter and receiver and a cable to connect it to your camera. The ME-W1 can pick up clear audio from subjects up to 164 feet away. The ME-W1 transmitter and receiver are each powered by a single "AAA" alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable battery (not included). The ME-W1 comes with a short audio cable, windscreen, and storage pouch.
Transmitter/Receiver: The ME-W1 transmitter and receiver are small clip-on devices that communicate with each other via Bluetooth wireless technology. Both have two 3.5mm connectors. The transmitter has a microphone input for connecting an optional ME-1 wired microphone if you need to record your subject in stereo, and a headphone output. The receiver has a microphone output for connecting the system to the camera and a headphone output. The receiver also has a built-in microphone to let you record your own voice, as well as that of the subject, or for two-way communication with the subject. Both devices have an on/off switch and Volume + and Volume - buttons.
Attaching the Transmitter and Receiver: The transmitter and receiver have spring-loaded clips that allow you to attach them to clothing or camera strap. An eyelet in the clip lets you thread a narrow camera strap through the clip to hold it secure.
