At home on land or on-board ship, Nikon's 14 x 40 StabilEyes VR binoculars deliver images that are up-close and locked-in. The land VR (vibration-reduction) mode reduces the effects of shaking hands and external vibrations, while at sea, another mode reduces the effects of rolling caused by waves and wind. A unique servo control system gives you stable images even while panning and tilting.

14X magnification would be challenging to keep on target in normal circumstances. But because these binoculars are stabilized, you'll find it easier to stay locked on your subject, while experiencing a degree of magnification normally not seen on binoculars. And of course, the StabilEyes VR binoculars feature classic Nikon optics technology: they're fog-proof, nitrogen-filled, and O-ring sealed, and the glass elements are multi-coated for bright images and true colors.

    Product Research

Overview: The Nikon StabilEyes 14 x 40 binoculars are equipped with Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) system, the same used in Coolpix and DSLR cameras. Vibration Reduction provides a steady view when used in a vehicle or aboard watercraft, or when following fast-moving objects. The StabilEyes binoculars come with a travel case, 4 "AA" batteries, lens covers, and an adjustable, high visibility floating strap.

VR Modes: The StabilEyes 14 x 40 binoculars feature two Vibration Reduction Modes. The Land Mode is recommended when footing in secure, and compensates for vibration from hand-shake and binocular movement. This mode is mostly used for following moving subjects while studying nature or watching sports. The On Board Mode should be used when footing is unstable, and the vibration comes from strong wind or from an engine.

Waterproof: The StabilEyes 14 x 40 is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to prevent fogging, and to protect the internal optics from condensation and mold. The StabilEyes binoculars can be used in areas of high humidity or rain without worry.

Optics: Nikon uses multi-layer coatings for its lenses to give you the brightest images possible. You get high resolution from the phase-correction coated prisms.

Power Requirements: The Nikon StabilEyes 14 x 40 operates on 4 "AA" batteries (supplied). Fully charged alkaline batteries provide approximately 6 hours of continuous operation. An LED flashes when battery power becomes weak.
