About the Nikon LD-1000
Light, in every way
Light, in every way
The Nikon LD-1000 LED movie light is a slightly diffused continuous light source designed to improve the quality of your videos (and photos) in low-light situations. It screws directly into the tripod socket of your Nikon 1 or Coolpix camera, and the light itself sits off to the side of your lens' axis, so the shadows that it casts look pleasing and natural. Two brightness settings allow you to adjust the amount of lighting support that you need.
The LD-1000 is battery-powered, compact, and lightweight, so you'll find it an easy travel companion.

Features
Overview: The Nikon LD-1000 is an LED Movie light, designed for use with Nikon 1 and Coolpix digital cameras. The LD-1000 outputs a steady beam of light to provide additional illumination for both still photos and movies. It can be handheld, or attached to your camera via the included bracket. The LD-1000 weighs 4.6 ounces with batteries, or 3 ounces, body only.
Included Bracket: The LED light has a 5-1/4" long metal bracket that screws into the bottom of your camera via the tripod socket. You can adjust the angle and position of the light depending upon the length of the camera's lens (to prevent shadows caused by longer lenses). Without the bracket, the light can be handheld to allow you to get creative with your lighting.
3-way Switch: The LD-1000 is controlled by a 3-way push button switch on the back of the light. One press turns on the light at full strength, while a second press reduces power by half. Pressing the switch a third time turns the light off.
Light Output: The LED light outputs 130 lux at full power and 65 lux at half power at 1 meter (3.3 feet). The light has a beam pattern of 55° vertical and 72 horizontal°.
Power Requirements: The LD-1000 is powered by four "AAA" alkaline, Lithium, or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. No batteries are included with the LED light. Estimated battery life is as follows:
- Alkaline: Approximately 30 minutes
- Lithium: Approximately 120 minutes
- Ni-MH: Approximately 70 minutes

The Nikon LD1000 is really nice. It fits well with my Nikon Coolpix A. It has the same, weather sealed, all metal construction, that my camera has. It's a nice addition to my camera. Great for video and still shots. It has two brightness settings. It's small, and yet it's build like a tank.
