Our take on the Nikon MB-D12

A must have for D800 enthusiasts, this battery grip from Nikon gives you extended shooting time plus increased comfort and balance as you snap photos. It attaches to the bottom of your D800, providing a convenient grip when holding the camera in the vertical position. It offers a shutter release button, front and rear command dials, and a joystick control for setting focus points. The magnesium frame and rubberized surfaces match your D800 perfectly and give it a more professional look and feel. The grip holds an optional EN-EL15 or EN-EL18 Nikon battery, or lets you operate your camera using eight "AA" batteries (not included).

A well made battery grip for the D810, D800, and D800e. The fit and feel are good on both my D800e and D810. In spite of the price, if you need a grip, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!

Great product, very good price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works perfectly with my Nikon D810. Solid build although, as others have said, Nikon is asking a lot for this grip. Crutchfield's price was very good, shipped when promised and got it when they said I would. I had another clone grip for my Nikon D7000, poor build quality, battery chamber broke straight away and heard rumblings about circuitry issues with clone grips, so for my D810 I wanted a Nikon grip. Highly reccomend.

Pros: Build quality, performance

Cons: Nikon's price structure. No cons with Crutchfield.

excellent, well made battery grip

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A well made battery grip for the D810, D800, and D800e. The fit and feel are good on both my D800e and D810. In spite of the price, if you need a grip, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!

Pros: feel, fit, functions perfectly, extends usage between battery changes, increases frame rate in crop mode, should be more long lasting and reliable than the knock-off battery grips

Cons: Only con is price compared to prior Nikon battery trips for older cameras.

A must have when shooting Vertical and using the pro lenses. Crutchfield makes purchasing a breeze and there sales rep. are very helpful

Pros: Fits well in the hand for Vertical shooting.

Cons: May consider removing it while shooting horizontal it ads a bit of bulk to the camera. In all a good choice.

Can't go wrong with this vertical grip. I am a wedding photographer and this is my 2nd Nikon vertical grip (I also own the MB-D10 for my D700). This grip fits my D800E perfectly and comes with the 8 AA-battery holder. Also, love buying from Crutchfield. They are extremely professional, courteous, and just very nice to deal with.

Pros: Solid build quality and fits the camera perfectly.

Cons: I want to say price, but you get what you pay for.

Nice addition to my Nikon D- 800 E camera

Not speaking for Crutchfield here, but the one I ordered IS a Nikon unit and is working as described. Came with box and warranty. Have heard many negative reviews about knock-offs so (as usual) stayed with name brand merchandise and have not had a problem. [ Don  Sep 22, 2015 ]
